After being asked by one of our FCA viewers to explain how to make Gary's take on the dongle rig, David provides a step by step guide on how to tie this simple but effective rig.
David also provides his views on the question of whether we think it will work for longer more delicate worm baits.
We hope you find this video informative and please let us know how you get on if you choose to give it a go!
As always thanks for watching and tight lines. FCA

Nice vid Bud. For Blacks, prewhip them on a baiting needle, cut to length and whip to the dongle and nick with the hook. Works for me.

Spot on Rick I’ll give it a crack 👍

The perfection loop allows the circle hook to rotate freely and set itself. Having the hook eye fixed with a tight knot doesn't allow as much action.... It'll still work, and I dont suppose the cod will be bothered 😅👍🏻

Yeah appreciate that mate, it was always a lazy mans version of the real thing. Although it’s interesting that in South Africa where I believe the original Dingle Dangle was made, they whip the hook rather than using a perfection loop. I wonder if that was purely a strength issue due to the size of fish they were catching 🤷‍♂️

hello, wondering if the loop would be easier if you use a crimp. thread line through and back then crimp.

Hi mate. Love your vids on here. Where abouts did you get that bait needle from? You fish all the local areas to me as I’m from Northumberland 💪

Thanks a lot mate really appreciate that 🙏👍 I think Gary gets them from any fresh water tackle shop. Somewhere like Frasers I’m Gateshead will have them I think, hope that helps👍

Great video mate..would it be better using a crimp on the loop to slide the bait on easier?? Cheers 🍻

I guess you could do that Mark yes, good ideal👍

Hi Dave I have tied a dongle like same as this one 70Ib straight through using the knot less knot. I have ordered some of the trident tackle components, I had found a lost rig on my last beach session which had a roto bait clip after tying the dongle the loop didn't eject once the paddle is pushed up not like using a hook. Do you prefer using the imp for the dongle rig I have got some Gemini lead clip that works just as a normal pulley 👍
@fullcircleangling
@fullcircleangling Год назад
Hi Michael, good stuff. yeah I’d say the imp is the better option for the dongle👍

@@fullcircleangling cheers Dave il have to buy some imps for the dongle rigs and use the trident tackle for the normal pulley rigs. Going to watch your latest trip with sloppy limpets later on always a good watch good luck and tight lines thanks again for the advice 👍🎣🎣🎣

Could I attach the loop to a splashdown clip? Would that work instead of an imp? Great vid by the way. Just subscribed

I've always used amnesia on my pulley rigs. You say you are using 70lb mono straight through. Do you look for any specific properties ie larger diameter mono to increase the abrasiveness or is it really a case of any 70lb mono will do? Cheers and well done on a really unique video 👍
@fullcircleangling
@fullcircleangling Год назад
Thanks very much Larry. I generally look for a good quality reliable brand first and foremost, Asso seems to be my choice presently. It doesn’t necessarily have to be 70lb, you could go a lot heavier if you wanted, as long as your crimps had sufficient diameter to take the mono. I’d would say that I’d use 70lb as a minimum. Hope that helps and thanks for the comment 👍

Hi Dave I am going to watch your video on how to make the dongle rig which sounds easy to make. Could you substitute the neoprene rig tubing for something like the core off a cable if you take the wire out or maybe the inside of a pen or would the tube be to rigid just an idea. But I will watch how you make yours thanks for all your videos m8 keep up the good work a d hope yourself and Gary have many tight lines 👍🎣🎣🎣

Actually the " dingle dangle" rig was designed by Leviathan Angling club in South Africa for casting big baits long distance, its been used for 8 years now to target any thing from 80kg rays and sharks to edible fish... ps, give credit where its due
