Today we're exploring another foundational concept known as the drama triangle. The drama triangle is a social model that essentially explains, or puts names to, different roles people play in drama filled relationships. And once you understand the triangle and these roles, it becomes significantly easier to step out of the drama and navigate these situations with much better skill, confidence and understanding. If you run into drama at work, with friends, with your spouse, your significant other, or any other human, this episode is a worthy listen. Let's get to it.

You are so wise man! I can tell by the way you specify things when you say something. Like when you make a statement “XYZ”, then you specify “I know that sounds like ‘ABC’ but I’m not saying ABC. If that makes sense. I know you know what I mean, because I do it too and I would. It’s pretty awesome. It takes superb wisdom, to know that life is all about balance! Keep at these videos! I was surprised the video had just under 10,000 views and not 1,000,000. I want to make videos one day too. Keep at it! This was gold. I think I’ve been being like your friend, thinking my siblings are the persecutors. They have reasonable concerns. But I still honestly feel like they don’t confront the parent in a reasonable way about those very reasonable concerns, because of their own triangle habits. It’s like a thousand fishing lines we’re can’t into a pond and I’m trying to navigate how to untangle the mess! But at least I can make sure to do my part to perform the healthy triangle instead of the destructive triangle moving forward! I subscribed thanks!

Thankyou so much Michael. The way you explain these 3 positive changes of roles resonate loudly with me. High schoolers need this info.

I agree! I also think high schoolers should take a class or two on how to have relationships. Maybe one on significant other/lover relationships, one on family relationships, and one on friendship relationships. But the powers that be don’t want it that way, because then they won’t be able to control us with politics and advertisements/marketing. They would have already had those classes. They know it, and they don’t want to give up that power. Hmm I’m realizing this drama triangle is everywhere, on a macro level! Tyrants know it and the love it. They won’t give it up either.

Looking forward to listening to your current posts and future ones. 👍 over the past 2 weeks the drama triangle came on my radar. I've been noticing it and reflecting on past relationships. I see myself in all positions at different times. Yesterday, I found myself wondering what my life might even look like if I'm not one if these characters. I will say my victim roles have felt real at the time...now I see that there was a payoff or need I wasnt mature enough identify or to ask for.

Can you fall into all three? For example, it you are being scapegoated for something you didn’t do, you tend to be the victim (you didn’t do it), persecutor (you are being scapegoated), and rescuer ( you save the others by being the scapegoat)?
@Svenshine
@Svenshine Год назад
Of course! I’m sure. I do know people bounce around between the three. But also what I think you are touching on, is that people project the three roles onto you (even if you’re not doing them). Those people need to blame or externalize. Or they just simply need those roles to be filled so they project them onto you, because they need them. Which makes it so complicated! But then I suppose maybe your job becomes not accepting the invitation to fulfill the role they are projecting on you.
