Wow this podcast is just copy + paste of every alpha male podcast you've seen before. Why did they even make this?? from stream → / gunnartvlive Streams on tues / thurs 9pm Edited by: / michaelcaringer
I work in construction easily making 100k a month as I continuously tell myself depression isn’t real and grow exhausted from all of the dubskis. From this I learned that I was the definition of masculinity.
Me, in the desert for 17 hours with my eyes closed: "If you can't see the sun, it can't touch you. No, this isn't a sunburn. It's negative energy leaving through my skin."
Is she someone you want raising your kids? Bold of you to assume anyone wants to create life with you. I love that they rarely question if they're even "husband" material lol
They do construction and only focus on exercise, gym, the bois, and money. All of that makes them masculine and chemically balanced, so they’re obviously husband material🤷♂️ Edit: they’re also quirked up and goated with the sauce. Can’t argue with that
Most of these guys have a skewed moral compass, they at once say to take responsibility, and be moral and masculine, but then then they go clubbing and whoring themselves out. They’re just individualists and hypocrites, it’s sad to see that this is what young men think of intellectual conversation
I absolutely love when people comment on neurochemistry and neurobiology with their "expert takes", on the same platform with which they refer to college universally as a waste of time. Lmao.
They're really just finishing their random nonsense statements by saying the word "neurochemistry" in isolation as if that lends any credibility to their statements. It would be funny if they weren't like... brainwashing a bunch of 12 year old boys at the same time.
I've seen these guys on twitter. They're all about moving away from mainstream health, but they go full speed into the other direction. Somewhere in the middle is probably a better place to be.
I'm a neuroscience major, and chemical imbalance as a cause for depression has been debunked for a long time, especially as far as serotonin being the cause. We still haven't figured out the cause, but it does make a difference to focus on gut health. Meditation seems to help, also ketamine treatments as well as magic mushrooms in a medical setting have shown promise.
@@greywitchwanderer9608well for a neuroscience major, probably shouldn’t spew bullshit. Imbalances may not be the cause for depression, or at least the serotonergic theory has been largely discredited, BUT there are imbalances present in depression and SSRI’s do affect it meaning that there is an effect. Gut health is serotonin, so you just said not serotonin, but yes serotonin. Ketamine and magic mushrooms aren’t awful, but they show more promise for other mental disorders more than depression. Also magic mushrooms are also serotonin based… The neurotransmitter interactions are very complicated, but present. I’m likely saying things you’ve already heard, but your take was so basic and ignored all nuance so I decided to write this
@@Jacob-pd5nf it's too bad I cant post medical studies here. I'm not going to argue about it. 100% low serotonin as the cause of depression has been debunked. Learned it years ago, and I believe the CDC only just confirmed it last year. What it does show, is that people can find confirmation for whatever beliefs they have because there is always something to defend untruths on the internet. I suggest you really do some intensive research on the serotonin theory. The brain is VERY complex. While it is easy to see where certain parts of the brain are active, it is very unlikely that you can measure neurochemicals in a brain. Even if you could, due to the plastic nature of the brain, it would not remain constant. And since the body strives for homeostasis, what would be the control group? What determines a healthy brain as far as depression? Depression is diagnosed by a patient's own debilitation. Someone could have symptoms of depression that dont register as depression to them because they have a higher tolerance and are able to function. Someone else may be weaker willed and feel depressed and debilitated much more easily. What would be the example of a healthy neurochemistry to diagnose it? Due to homeostasis, some people have less of certain neurotransmitters than others but that works for THEIR brain. The plasticity of the brain makes it very possible to regulate neurotransmitters internally by building neural pathways via habits done on a consistent basis. There is an issue with determining if a person's habits and mindset are creating the neurochemical composition, or is the neurochemical composition creating the mindset. Chicken or the egg. I'm just telling you what I learned. I'm sure if you look, you'll see studies backing what I've said up, and maybe some of what you said but either way it's not a definite answer for mental illness. I typically value intellectual debates even with people who have different opinions, but really despise ad hominem attacks and just disrespect in general. You dont know me and I dont know you. Keep things civil. I'm not saying mental illness isnt real I'm saying the theory of chemical imbalance is not holding up to scrutiny. I'll leave it at that.
I'm a med student, and what he said about the skin-eye-sunlight connection is utter bs. You could expect to hear it from a crackhead behind 7eleven, but not from someone in the medical field.
@@JayFriedrichs I would LOVE for you to site your sources and explain to me how what that douchenozzle said makes even the slightest ounce of sense. I'll wait, though we both know you won't be able to come through.
“When we cover our skin with outer layers and/or sun screen, we are blocking the vitamin D producing sun rays. This essentially means we are preventing ourselves from ever producing our own vitamin D”, these guys are idiots and the way they delivered that skin-eye-sunlight connection was weird but its pretty basic information
These guys remind of when the college bros I used to see at school would have a "deep" conversation and I would just make the Pikachu surprised face and just ignore them. 😅
Them describing a chemical imbalance sounds like my 60yo step-dad asking me if I've tried to just stop having anxiety. This is what happens when you choose "da club" over an education.
i hate when ppl think neuropsychology is all bs. i have a bachelors in addiction counseling so i’ve had full courses on the chemicals in the brain, how they differ with different mental illnesses & how substances can affect the brain differently depending on the way the brain is on a regular basis (i.e. marijuana can cause people with a natural higher level of dopamine to experience hallucinations bc it increases the dopamine even more whereas people with parkinson’s don’t have enough dopamine causes tremors/shakes & can help to relieve those symptoms). there is actual science to this & sure some mental health conditions _can_ be completely situational or a product of environment & can be improved without medical intervention (therapy, meditation, healthy coping mechanisms, etc) _however some conditions are due to a chemical imbalance that cannot be “fixed” without medication._ it’s crazy bc i have been diagnosed with bipolar type 1 & borderline personality disorder & was in denial of needing medication for a long time until one time i was doing MDMA (which was not my first time i had done it plenty of times before and had a great time) & at the peak of rolling my mood completely plummeted & i became extremely depressed (no i wasn’t coming down i was literally peaking) & that’s when i knew damn my brain is not right bc there was so little serotonin that even the MDMA couldn’t provide enough for me to be in that state of euphoria. & i’ve tried a lot of different things for my mental health before meds but it wasn’t until i had the _combined_ treatment of medication _and_ psychotherapy that i truly began to gain control of my mental health. it angers me that people with so little experience or education will have the most horrendously ignorant takes.
Community college a actually a great way to save money if you're considering furthering your education. Spending two years at a community college and then transferring to a 4 year university would save a lot more than if you spent the entire 4 years at a university. Even if you don't transfer you can get an associate's degree and build some useful knowledge
You have to think of it this way, saying someone can just make themselves happy when they’re depressed is like telling someone who just got out of surgery or broke a leg that they don’t need pain medicine. They can just make their selves feel no pain. Ridiculous
When they explain how your brain can be wired to think something is good for you, it makes so much sense now why ppl thrive under abuse and also all the benefits of addiction. It’s because their brain tells them it’s good for them and therefore it is. Dang, dude, that’s bars for real.
I actually study light in college! Your visual perception of light has ZERO to do with physical effects on your body (I can’t speak to mental stuff). Not everyone knows you can get sunburnt on a fully cloudy day and this is the perfect example (also Gunnar if u do investment stuff, the solar panel startup I work for would be completely unchanged if you visited but it’d be funny)
Imagine trying to convince people with mental and emotional dysfunction to go off their meds 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ That's so dangerous! (I also have some of the conditions they reference, so no disrespect intended towards you or anyone else with them 💜)
Gunnar please continue to upload your stream highlights/VODS. I don’t have the attention span to sit & watch lives (of anyone) or the schedule for it as I’m alllways sooo busy working and….sleeping… Plus it’s another way you can make money 😄 but really. I can watch Gunnar content all day but tHERE IS NONE SIRRRR
I always love when "grown" men tell others guys what there mindset should be. And how our brains/emotions should. Especially relating to trauma. Like my brain is gonna work any way relative to privileged Todd in a tank top
dude that no sunglasses equals better a tan theory is insane!! i dont think having a sick tan in my 20s is worth the eye & skin damage! protect your eyes and skin please
I love how the dude who's tired of winning so fucking much's advice to be successful was.. pick what you enjoy doing, and make an online course scam about it.
That ‘wearing sunglasses makes your body not realise it’s in the light’ is completely wrong! When my friend (who is blind) was a baby, and her parents took her overseas, the only way they could change her jetlag was keeping her in the sun, because your body does know
From someone with insomnia, so this is coming from a sleep doctor, glasses thing is a lie, every single cell in your body has a circadian rhythm and can detect when light is hitting you. The main thing with sun exposure is make sure you get 30 mins of sun at the start of the day to help your body anchor its wake up time (you can wear sunnies tho)
Hey gunner, your skin can tell when light hits it. Sleep study people did an experiment with light and how it affects sleep. A small but bright light was shined on a woman's leg under the covers of an otherwise completely black room. Results showed the woman had a reduced quality in sleep when the light was shown on just her leg compared to the control of a black room with no light.
Homie. They deny depression cause they can’t deal with their own. Coming from someone who is depressed, I stopped venting not out of denial. But out of apathy. I’m aware of it and it still burns me. I can only imagine how ignorant they are.
It might also be that they have never experienced it, so they dont understand... and they completely lack reasoning skills, education on the subject, and empathy for others. Normal people would then realize they have no business speaking on the subject then... But not these alphas! They just cured depression my dude! 😄🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ (I hope you're doing alright as well)
I think my bro heard a couple of neuroscience podcasts and trying really hard to take away something from them, but doesn’t realize it takes a little bit more than a couple of Andrew huberman tik toks to even have a slight idea of neuro chemistry
I always love the take that it's what you're doing and putting in your body that causes depression. Like, of course, if your environment isn't great it's going to exacerbate things, but that doesn't cause the type of depression they're talking about. Clinical depression is a long-term issue and something I've dealt with since I was a child. I was a vegetarian for nine months, I used to juice every day. I take the meds to help me sleep. I've played sports and been active. I've been in and out of therapy my entire adult life, going upwards of two times a week at some points. And guess what? Still super mentally unwell. Because it's not something I caused, so it's not something I can fix myself. I'll take advice from these frat bros when they stop drinking their PBRs from a sippy cup, thanks.
“There’s progress towards men and women being equals and I don’t like that!” -basically what they were saying when they said “men are being feminized and women are being masculinized”
FYI when I searched “Gunnar TV live” to see if you had recent uploads, RU-vid didn’t show your channel or videos from this second channel in their search results. I had to go to Gunnar TV’s “Channel” tab to find it. Just fyi
I looked up the thing about sunglasses and I can't find a reliable source supporting it. A ton of articles talking about it but no actual full text research article.
bruh thank god i found somebody that's making fun of these guys. i kept seeing their shit on my feed and thinking these exact thoughts and figured they weren't receiving any push back
My depression is because I can't walk anymore and every second I'm alive my condition only gets worse. But sure, mind over matter. They've probably never stepped foot on a college campus and think they know better than millions of doctors around the world? Not to mention they're both privileged men who either is or can pass off as a white male. Plus they're both healthy from how they've painted their lives. Just because you don't have personal experience doesn't mean everyone else is lying or something.
5:32 I took full extra year of classes after graduating my community college...for shits and giggles. Tough ones too, learning to develop 35mm film for example. Does this mean I qualify as wife material or the opposite? The absolute Chad there.. the epitome of every girls dream and cream.. a man so suave he probably read every book by Dickens and can quote Poe's "The Raven".... he was a little unclear on the details of what constitutes "wife material". The single GREATEST level of a female and her life's purpose.
The blond guy looks like if someone took Harry Styles, put him in a FromSoft character creator, and hit “create similar face” over and over again til he popped up.
i love how they highlight certain words to emphasize them and yet the words their highlighting green are still just worthless useless information and just yapanese
