BTW THe reason why your sprouts take so long to sprout is because you put them in the fridge. It only takes two days to get fully sprouted chickpeas at room temperature (even faster in the summer).

Thank you. This was very helpful. Reading about it online and googling it does not give the details that you just gave. You made the process seem simple, it’s tedious, and longer than I would like it to be, but simple and you described it great. I wish they could just sprout in one day and then I would be happy, but we have to be patient and deal with the tediousness so that we could have greatness in our food

Whoa I had no idea you could sprout them in the fridge. This is so useful to me because my apartment is humid and sprouting attracts little fruit flies when I leave it out so it's been frustrating. Thank you so much for the proof it can be done in a fridge. This feels way safer especially in terms of probably completely deterring mold. Thx!

Nice video. Regarding things i see in the comments section: If you read college research info, cooking sprouts after sprouting is definitely the way to go, to avoid any disease from sprouts. The greatest nutrition of sprouted quinoa comes by limiting the sprout size, to only the size of the seed- very, very small sprout; if you grow them longer, the sprout uses up the nutrition of the seed to grow, greatly reducing the nutrition. In terms of people commenting about refrigeration pros/ cons: you can do a combo- it doesn't have to be all or nothing. Start outside the frig, & progress to the frig. People also worry about fruit flies: use an outer towel wrap & plastic bag, &/ or sealed vessel like a crock pot dish with lid, or casserole dish with lid, & a strainer inside it to elevate it for draining. Blessings. Peace. Love wins.

I’m wondering what your reason for putting them in the fridge is because most plants need a little bit of heat to sprout so it seems like that would just slow them down or even stop them from sprouting but it looks like they still sprouted so it works but I don’t understand the benefit of it
@powerplantbody8243
@powerplantbody8243 3 года назад
Thanks for asking! I used top keep them out the whole time but they would go off every now and then. I started putting them in the fridge between rinsing and, while it's slightly slower, it didn't stop the sprouting process.

So they STAY in the fridge to sprout and then are only brought out to rinse off & drain, (so it's only about an hour or so out of the fridge) then stuck back in? Am I correct? I just want to make sure bc I'm trying to sprout some quinoa for my budgie who has some digestive issues and cannot eat seeds. She was showing signs of fatty liver disease, even tho her foods are pellets, (that I mix myself with ZuPreme fruit flavored pellets, (I'm changing their pellets to making my own- so I KNOW what all is in it, since no one knows what the truth is anymore) mixed with that is [1 cup of pellets] 1/8th cup of regular budgie seed mix, 1/4 cup of quinoa, some millet and I want to add the sprouts in the am for them to have like a healthy breakfast, like we eat! Just looking out for my babies and honestly, I can see myself muching on some with a little homemade ranch Greek yogurt too! If I give it to them, they have to see me eat it first! (Something I had to do to get them eating diff foods, now, when I eat, they go and eat. If I'm going to eat and they are out, I have to put them back or they're little beggars- like flies on 💩!) It's a bad habit I don't want them doing, but at least they're eating all kinds of fruits & veggies now! That's all that matters and it has made a HUGE difference in their activity and stamina, I've noticed!
