I keep the majority of my cigars in acrylic jars and keep those in a drawer so they aren’t exposed to sunlight. Has worked great and allowed me to put some more money towards cigars, as you mentioned!
@StogieLads

Excellent to hear! And good call with the sunlight, that's definitely true that you want to avoid letting the cigars stay in direct sunlight.

Do u keep any of the boveda packs in with them or is it strictly just the cigar in a sealed jar?

I found that the harbor freight Apache 1800 ($12) and the 2800($22on sale) are the best cheap humidors you can find they are air tight water proof and best of all if you ever want to travel it’s no problem

IKEA has a three litre glass container that is great for this. I can get about forty sticks in one and even Cuaba Salomones fits along the short side of the box. Boveda-packs fits standing up along the edges. The glass gives it a little bit more dignity than plasic. Anyways, glad to see quality content from Sweden, keep it up!
@StogieLads

I certainly agree with the glass, the ones I have are of glass from Clas Ohlson, but it sounds like I need to check out those IKEA ones! Thank you man!

Why would you get glass instead of plastic? The lid/top is plastic on the glass ones as well.

No doubt. The right tupperdor + Boveda = the most hassle free and cheap storage by a country mile. The rest is pretty much furniture and decoration, maybe with the exception of people who live in places where cooling is a must, but that too comes with a slew of practical problems. I use 50L food grade plastic containers that seal really well to store my boxes. I stick 10-12 65% Boveda's in there and they last a very long time. PS: I decided to smoke an H. Upmann Half Corona today out of the box I bought on your recommendation (just to get that reference point as I had planned to store them for a few years hrr hrr) and the first impression was very good. Best H. Upmann I've had, even as fresh as they are. Smoked great and lots of tasty complexity. It's also quite slow burning, so even though it's tiny, I still got a good amount of time out of it. I dunno what it is about these small sticks, but they tend to really deliver. For example, Partagas Shorts is the best Partagas I've had. The only challenge is to avoid burning my fingertips ;) Cheers.
@StogieLads
@StogieLads 2 года назад
That's awesome to hear about the HUHC! I really agree with you about the small sticks. The Upmann Half Corona and the Trinidad Reyes are the Cubans that have delivered most consistently well for me even when really young. Glad to hear you enjoyed it!

Do you have to occasionally air the tupperdor if it has an airtight seal to have some airflow for your cigars?
@StogieLads
@StogieLads Год назад
Yes, that's a very good point that I unfortunately omitted in the video. You definitely need to do that. I didn't think of mentioning it because I open all my humidors from time to time naturally when taking cigars out. But you definitely should let the humidor breathe every month or two!

Removing the cap is always recommended. I prefer taking them out of tubes in general too, as the tubes themselves really risk the spread of mold.

Can someone tell me if Principe Chicos need to be stored in a humidor? i have been told they dont as they are individually foil wrapped, in which case could i just leave them in a cigar box and throw in a boveda pack for extra measure rather than putting them in my humidor where i want to keep non flavoured cigars?

I have mine in an acrylic jar, I live in the Midwest, (cold winters, warm summers etc..) not super humid, I have 69% boveda in there, I see you have 65%, would you say 69% is too high?

Para ese tapperware de vidrio solo se necesita una bóveda de 72% 60 gms Alcanza muy bien para 25 puros
@StogieLads
@StogieLads Год назад
72% is way too high for a sealing Tupperware container. Over 70% and you’re hugely susceptible to mold unless you’re opening that humidor literally every single day.
@georgeG682

How many cigars do you think we can store in each tapperware? I mean 20 each or even 50 all together? Also how many bovenda (8gr or 60gr ) per cigars? Thank you

Thanks for this video. Question: how about temperature?
@StogieLads
@StogieLads Год назад
That's actually a very valid question! Living in Sweden, temperature very rarely becomes an issue for me which is why I didn't touch on it. In general, a temperature controlled humidor is always good, but not necessary. As long as you can keep your humidors indoors and out of sunlight it will rarely get hotter than what is safe, unless you live in a place with extreme heat and no air conditioning. The most important thing is to keep cigars outside of sunlight and in a place where temperature isn't fluctuating heavily.
@kevincle4669
@kevincle4669 Год назад
Hi really enjoying the channel as someone new to cigars. I was just wondering a few things, firstly how often do you replace the boveda packs, and have you found 65 to be too much? And is there a reason you dont use a hygrometer or is it not needed with tupperdors?
@StogieLads
@StogieLads Год назад
65% is the perfect level for me to be honest. 69% is where it becomes too much. I replace these about once every half a year or even longer as these Tupperware containers seal so well. With boveda you don't really need hygrometers as they're completely inaccurate anyway. If the container seals well then the boveda will keep perfectly and exactly at 65%!
@kevincle4669
@kevincle4669 Год назад
@@StogieLads Yes even after calibrating it supposedly, it is reading 69 with a 65 pack, so your right just very inaccurate, good to know Im doing it right with the 65s, Thanks dor your reply!

Glad you found the video useful! These particular ones are 2.8 liters by volume. They're 27 x 21 x 8 cm in measurement, so not too big but it also makes finding the cigars a bit easier so I don't have to dig through a massive container every time!

Do you unwrap the cigar plastic before placing it inside the container? or it’s fine to store it with the plastic wrap?

I just got some cigarillos from Davidoff but I do not have a humidor nor do I have any of those humidifier packs. Is it safe to store the cigarillos for few days in just a lock & lock container in their original box? Or will the cigarillos go bad or will "beatles hatching" happen in few days of poor storing? And my room is pretty hot through out the day and pretty warm through out the night, which I'd assume is less than ideal for the cigarillos. I'm also in CA so it's pretty dry out here. I got these cigarillos unexpectedly as a gift and I really want to preserve them the best I can as I know that Davidoff is a premium cigar brand so the cigarillos are premium too. Thank you.
@leandershah1617
@leandershah1617 10 месяцев назад
I don’t think this comment will help given it’s been a month since yours. But yeah, Cigarillos don’t really need humidification to be honest. I have a box of Davidoff platinum cigarillos (80 pack is it?) for about 30 days now, temperature is about 27-32 degree celcius where I am with an average humidity of 70% (Indian ‘winters’ are weird). No beetles hatching, not squishy or dry, smokes like the day I purchased it (stored in ideal conditions). Thing to note is that the cigarillos I have came in the Spanish cedar box. But I did take half of them out and put in my tuppperdor that had just stopped working (Boveda pack finished) just to see if the cedar, and humidity change would do anything to them. Happy to report, no changes flavour, texture, strength changes whatsoever, just need to burp the tupperdor every once a while and the cedar box ones have a little more aroma of well, Cedar!

@leandershah1617
@leandershah1617 10 месяцев назад
Every 2 weeks for a rough 3-5 mins is what works for me. Some say every 2 months or so but if you’re smoking each week out of that tupperdor, no need to air it because of how often it opens up!
