That is some awesome information. I’ve always done the old techniques that you mentioned. It can be affective but also cost money. I think you are a great example of getting people out of the house and in to the garage. I started watching your videos cause I want to build my grandkids some go cart. You sure have helped a lot. Keep up the good work. Cheers!

Hi. As a 40 year tech college instructor, I’d like to say you do a great job of teaching versus showing on your videos. It’s great. I was wondering why you use round tubing versus square tubing for fabrication knowing that round is more difficult to measure, weld, etc. Thank you. Max Gernand

The string holder magnets are really cool, but those floppy gator clips would find their way out in the middle of the driveway the first time I tried to used them. Another couple of magnets would work great for that job tho.
@centurialinc
@centurialinc 2 года назад
The gator clips work really well. I think after you used them a couple of times you would like them. The key advantage is that they give you a reliable spot to hook the tape to. One is all you need to hook the tape to but Greg used both because he wanted to.

hello Red Beard, Another awesome video. I have a question that hopefully you will be able to help with. I am looking for the aluminum axle holder that takes the place of a swingarm in a Yamaha trimoto with what I believe is a 200cc motor. I found one in half in a scrap yard and started rebuilding it. The only major problem that I can see with the frame is that piece.

It sure is, dates back to the ancient Egyptian times. Maybe even older than that. One of our favorite tools.

Do a top speed run on the 440 Deuce! I'm doing a 440 build on a much smaller custom off road kart, so I want to see what the 440 can do on such a large kart.

so youre saying all i need to make perfect notches and bends in tubing is $15,000 worth of tools... lol bender is prob $10k nice shop!
@centurialinc
@centurialinc 2 года назад
Not at all. The tools are open source in this video and can be made at home for just a few dollars with your own 3d printer. All the other tools in his shop are supper awesome but there is an inexpensive option for all of them. For example our DIY tube notcher is very affordable, and bending tube can be done with a hydraulic one from harbor freight. RBG has supper awesome tools provided by sponsors that where earned from doing good work without those supper nice tools first.

Hold on! So I don't have to use a piece of string and some tape? All I have to do is buy expensive magnets and plum bobs? Well sign me up brother! I can't believe I've been so stupid. Truly embarrassed.
@centurialinc
@centurialinc 2 года назад
Lol, the string line tool can be put together from homedepot tools. The plum bob and magnets are super cheap at home depo. But the weight of the brass plum bob might over power the magnets they sell. We use to use tape as well and got tired of the tape not sticking or after re positioning the tape a few times stopped working. The magnets are really the way to go. Thanks for the comment.

Measuring the tube length on the centre line will always be too short as it was in this video. The only time that would be accurate is if you are doing a 90° joint each end

@centurialinc

The tools are open source and DIY friendly. Everything in the video can be put together from Harbor Freight. They have a tube notcher for $60 and if you have a drill your all set there. The string line tool can be pieced together with a plum bob and magnets and an angle finder, all from Harbor Freight and you could cut the tube by hand with a hack saw or a sawsall. Basically this is as affordable as it gets aside from using an angle grinder and sharpie. You could come very close to what's here in this episode with just $100 or so.
