Mark Stone scored the first goal for the Golden Knights this post-season as the fans of every other team let out a groan. That and more in today's NHL hockey video!
red wings fan. I like Vegas. I new vegas would win. I picked them to win. but the argument is that dallas is the second best team but failed to take into the equation that if all teams were fully healthy, then would dallas finish second best. Who knows. I think vegas was a better team than where they finished .
Here in SJS-land, we've been calling him that 2013, when in just his 3rd NHL game against NYR, he scored 4 goals (making him at the time the 4th youngest player to do that) and the last one was just a downright disgusting between-the-legs breakaway goal. That brought his NHL total to * 6 * goals in 3 games. and made it 7 goals in first 5 games, the first time that it had been done since the 1979-80 season.
I don’t know why the salary cap needs to go away in the playoffs - it should still be applicable. It just promotes this kind of thing. But the it did take the league 25 years to realize Arizona wasn’t working so…
@@AEMoreira81that is one of many, but primarily, you'll never get the NHLPA to agree to the possibility of forcing players to sit over cap, when they aren't even getting paid the salary.
they aren't getting paid is the reason WHY, but I completely agree, the seasonal cap limit should apply to all teams and the players regular season cap hits should be tallied and on any one game the teams shouldn't be able to go over the limit. The players aren't be paid regardless so it's a moot point to point out the reasoning why IMO (it just is what it is).
I'm not a fan of Vegas. However I'm a real Hockey fan who knows the Vegas franchise is excellent and great for the NHL. They made it to the finals in their very first season. They have qualified for the playoffs in 6 of their 7 seasons and won the Stanley Cup!
Did you deliberately choose to say ‘circumcision’ instead of ‘circumvention’? 😂 It wouldn’t surprise me if he skated around with an ‘uncircumcised cap’ if you catch my drift.
Easy to spot the idiots new to hockey.... There were no gambling ads dominating the commercial breaks until Vegas came on the scene. It's been relentless since.
As a Habs fan, I absolutely loathe Vegas. But our playoff victory against them in 2021 felt that much more special, and we'll always be the first Canadian team to embarrass them.
The interesting thing that a lot of people do not know is that last year in every game of the playoffs, the team they put on the ice was cap compliant which would be under the 82.5 million dollar cap limit. (This year it’s a different story but who cares? People complain about last year still)
I think where the gamesmanship really shows up is if Stone was healthy enough for Monday, then he was probably healthy enough to play on Thursday, a critical game to determine seeding. However, to make him available, they'd have to make some moves; and so they just held him out, saying he was still injured before he magically was healthy enough to play in Game 1
Yes, and that violates the rules. The LTIR rules says a healthy player MUST be activated. To hold him out for cap reasons is violating the rule and is cheating.
@@Xanlet I am sure the NHL just wasn't involved at all. I am sure the NHL doctor was also sufficiently fooled. I am sorry, Stone's recovery matches with the projected time-line for the injury. This whole argument is just a hate mob, motivated by personal bias against the Knights. I get not liking them, crying about a system every team uses is just silly. Why are we ignoring the other teams over the cap? Are the Aves just too cool to be criticized for being over the cap?
@@blastimbre If you think a player is too injured to play, but just so happens to be fully ready to go 4 days later, and it just so happens to convey a massive competitive advantage to their team, then I have a bridge to sell you. Either that or you are just being dishonest. This type of behavior is indefensible, it is unequivocally cheating.
@Xanlet I have to ask, what arbitrary number of days works for you? Your argument is assuming he can only have been ready if he was ready half a week or so earlier. Why? Tell me how that works? The NHL is very involved with the injuries and recovery of players on LTIR. If the league's doctors have said its good, why do you think you know better? It's not cheating, you're just mad they are benefiting from the situation at all. You're making assumptions based off of circumstantial evidence and a clear bias against the Knights.
@@blastimbre You discredit your own intelligence if you're willing to buy that crock. The timing is literally perfect to ensure maximum benefit, not to mention this isn't even the first time. It's too blatant and no amount of gaslighting is going to change that.
Never mind that there are several other teams over the cap in the playoffs. Hate the Knights all you want for taking advantage of a system the league allows or hate your favorite team's GM for not doing the same.
I'm sure they're gonna end up keeping it lmao. I can't say for sure I'm not there, but I have that gut feeling. Unless fans and players make enough noise about it
We're missing the bigger picture here. A hard salary cap shouldn't exist in a league where the poorest franchise, whose NHL team played in a 5k seat college barn, just sold for $1.2B.
Dude what. That’s not what the salary cap is about. You could say it should increase and most people would agree, but the salary cap is to keep teams more even and competitive.
@@marciimeris503That is VERY different. The mlb team's budget is so much more than any nhl team. Also, the teams that spends more win the more games every year. Do you really want this?
On behalf of all the Vegas fans- seeth, cope, stay mad, cry, salt. To hate on a team this much is insane. And hilarious. Some of y'all cant even admit that most of the horses in this race are using the same exact loopholes. Just not as well, so go cry to your GM, not the internet.
@@sevtas8422 The same Fleury that immediately fell off a cliff as soon as he was on his next team? Same thing that happened with Pacioretty, Krebs, Schmidt? Too many teams are far too sanctimonious with their players and keep them around too long.
@@glswenson That's not what they mean by making a mockery of the rules. The spirit and point of the rule is that it's supposed to accommodate unforeseen and unfair circumstances. They're taking advantage of the rules. You're totally allowed to take all the free pennies at the check out counter but you're still being an ass for doing so. That's essentially what's happening here.
Vegas Born and Vegas Strong! Go Knights Go! Let's make sure we give a loud welcome at The Fortress! From hockey won't work in the desert to Stanley Cup Champion Misfits!
Dallas is just experiencing the absolute RIG JOB the NHL put on the Jets in 2018, so the little Golden Knights could have their little “fairy tale run.” The most rigged series I have EVER SEEN in my 50 YEARS of watching and playing this game. We are ALL pulling for you Dallas. P.S. If all of their players got injured by flying elbows, you would probably win by default. Don’t know who needs to hear that.
@Eck All these people complaining saying he wasnt hurt or that Vegas cheated trully dont understand how LTIR works.. To be put onto LTIR the leagues doctors, not even the teams.. THE LEAGUES doctors have to sign off on it.. A lacerated spleens down time listed by the NIR is 2-2.5 months, he came back at 61 days.. Everyone can be butthurt all they want, same with them with Tampa but its not something that is done at a whim.. The leagues doctors have to sign off, and its not just 1 of them
The haters are just a bunch of whiny crybabies … that’s all they are. No other sport has such whiny bitches complaining about issues that are legit . But…. Vegas are cheaters ??? Lame ass excuses from wayyyy up north lol
For anyone interested, NIH has a free Sports Medicine study that recommends recovery time for grade 3 splenic lacerations to be 3 to 6 months, HOWEVER hockey players under constant medical care have returned as early as 60 days. Splenic Lacerations and Return To Play if you want to read it.
There is nothing more infuriating than seeing the best seed in the West taking on the WORST playoff wild card, and get bent over not just for game 1 but game 2. Like what’s the fucking point of a salary cap if we dumpster it and build super teams in the playoffs? The league should have a required amount of missed games for players jumping off LTIR heading into the playoffs.
Eh, Mark Stone could have sat out both games and they would have stomped Dallas both times. He's not playing poorly, but besides that one tip he just looks... alright?
Ok, but you understand that vegas was on the hot track to being top 3 in the league until injuries plagued our season. We only barely made it because for 2 months, we were running 2 ahl lines. Now we're not. We also went 3-0 against Dallas in the regular season. This isn't an unexpected outcome.
@@deadboyzX8 Everyone does it makes it right? I'm not sure how I feel about the issue, but it's obvious at this point VGK abuse of the rules is especially egregious.
The title of this video is completely wrong. It should be every fan from every other fan base hates this team. Every player in the league would love to play for Vegas. Tomas Hertl waived his no trade clause to go to Vegas. Hanifan was excited as hell to come to Vegas. Every player that has moved to Vegas said they were ecstatic to have an ownership group that will do everything they can to win a Stanley Cup. Vegas has proven that with all of the moves they have made. The only people who have a problem are the fans. 17 teams were over the cap and everybody wants to focus on the Golden Knights. The only reason is because they are ruthless with their moves. Moves a ton of other teams could have also tried to do if they had an aggressive management team like the Golden Knights. I will say this. Vegas could even look like a bigger villain if they can't find a way to keep Jonathan Marchessault after this season. The fans would have a really hard time seeing him go. He has become a fan favorite here and personally I think he will be somewhere else next year due to his potential price tag and what he deserves.
I'm pretty sure that Marchy would take less money to stay in Vegas but the way things are turning, I'm afraid that he might go. I have 3 Knights jerseys and only one has a player name on it is number 81, Marchessault. It would really break my hearth.
Bingo. And what does that mean? No need to rebuild for the foreseeable future, as long as they are smart with the contracts. Trade draft capital and prospects for hired guns, rinse and repeat.
Dude, it's not like they just tell the league and get the okay. The NHL's doctors have to sign off on it, and monitor the player's recovery. You really should look into the matters you have such strong opinions on. If this wasn't mark stone or a player from Vegas, noone would even be mentioning it.
@@blastimbre Yes they would. They gave the Lightning all the shit in the world for doing the same thing a few years ago with Kucherov. Vegas isn't being picked on or singled out just because everyone dislikes them specifically. If it was another team doing it with their elite franchise player, they'd catch the same flak.
@@BestWayKilla ah, but what about the other 4 or 5 playoff teams over the cap due to the use of LTIR? I don't see anyone talking about the Aves or Leafs. Every team is using it. Stone is just a big name. I get it's happened a few times, but Stone has a very long history of being injury prone. Furthemore, his injury followed the projected recovery time for a lacerated spleen. Well, the projected time for an elite athlete with top notch medical care. Tampa also got called out, fair. It seems like people only care if you win. I suppose the other teams doing it are fine, because they have lost.
@@blastimbre People don't tend to get too up in arms about teams that do it and don't win because the failure is karma enough, since they did it specifically to give themselves a better chance to win. The ire towards teams that do it and have success also tends to be exacerbated when the guy they kept off plays a large factor in their success. Vegas still has quite a long way to go, though, even in the ever-increasingly likely event they get past the Stars. We'll see if having Stone back makes up for falling to the 8-seed in his absence.
@@blastimbre The League allowed a team to etch the name of a naughty coach onto the cup and only did something about it when it became public knowledge. If you're expecting honesty and integrity from the NHL you will be sorely disappointed.
I literally don't and have never thought about the Las Vegas Golden Knights. It's interesting seeing all this hate for a team I couldn't care less about.
Genuine question. Should Dallas have forfeited their last few games to get a lower seed? Vegas was the one team Dallas couldn't beat all season. And now they added an additional top line winger and top pair defender for FREE come Game 1. I hate to say it, but a healthy Vegas is unstoppable and will probably win it all again. GG Stars fans, what a disappointing end to Pavelski's career 😥
This is what happens when the NHL gave Vegas free reign when they became a team. Now imagine if both the Kraken and Knights had to go through the NHL expansion of the 90's where those teams were setup to fail immediately.
I'm sorry you have to go through that transitional period of Fandom. I'm born and raised in Vegas and grew up a ducks fan. We never thought we would have a team here and when we not only got one, but a homegrown team with no history I had to switch allegiances. Day fucking one!
I’m not a Vegas fan but all these crybabies make me want to root for them. I’ll get a big kick out of it if down the road they end up playing Edmonton and everyone will be rooting for the McDavids and Vegas beats them. The howls coming down from Canada will be delicious though we may get drowned by all the tears. Then if they lose to the Eastern team, that will be OK because we know it won’t be the Leafs.
I feel bad for Stone, he's not the guy deciding when he plays or if he's used to abuse the rules. Dude just wants to play hockey but is the face front of a whole cheating movement... I 100% agree with hating management tho, they're the ones doing this scummy shit.
@@Oilerrocker They were picked up because they used LTIR like every team in the league. Sorry bud, a lacerated spleen is an injury that keeps you out for a couple months or so.
I’m not even mad at my stars for going down 2-0 in the series I’m just sad that we have to play the second best team in the western conference in the first round
Before the Knights came to town, I didnt bother watching hockey, and now that theyre here, I love hockey. I dont necessarily think its fair to hate on VGK because they havent had to do a rebuild yet. I have a real respect for the OG fans who have stood by and waited patiently for teams like the Stars and the other ones to be great 28 years after their inaugural season. That being said, Knights In 4.
As a knights fan, I like the rangers myself… Zibanejad is one of only a handful of players, who don’t play for the VGK, that I like… also, I don’t hate Dallas… Robertson is another player that I like…
I don’t know how anyone can cheer for a team that starts embellishing as soon as the game starts to get away from them over one that did something completely within the rules on the business end.
Im a Boston fan and I hate vegas. Stone isoff on ltir but its a loopolhe chest, cause hes fully healed for gsme 1 of the playoffs. Hes so rested and ready to go, not fair. And go Boston!
Jets fan here. It's not just the fact they've had our number in the playoffs that we despise them. Also Stone might be the first hometown guy who gets booed by us soon.
Same fans who chanted “you’re a backup!” to the guy who used to play for them, who then went on to beat them, who they then welcomed aboard for a second time? So confusing.
Will never happen. If the players are not being paid in the playoffs than the cap shouldn't matter. And let's say some how they do. More than half the league would be affected not just the knights. Lol you guys just hate the knights because they are good and proved everyone wrong the first year, when everyone said they would suck. Well they didn't and now people are mad and cry
I'll laugh my ass off if the Stars sit one of their players to have someone come in and run Stone or give him the Bobby Clarke special purely out of spite to ruin Vegas's shenanigans. And I'm fairly certain I won't be alone in doing so.
Maybe people should quit complaining about LTIR and use the rules as they are written. This isn’t a new phenomenon and if Vegas wins, Vegas isn’t the issue it’s your GM.
Vegas is going to cause the long term IR rules to be overhauled. The second time in TWO seasons the SAME player has the SAME injury to go on the IR RIGHT BEFORE playoffs to get ANOTHER high cost free agent to have through playoffs AGAIN? At this point EVERY team should do the same exact thing the last month of the season and show how stupid the system is.
Not the same injury two years in a row and it was just before the trade deadline not the playoffs. The system probably needs an overhaul but until it gets one this is legal. Take it up with the league, their doctors are the ones that signed off on this.
Note to all fans wanting the stars to win....Just wait until the next series because Dallas is physically incapable of beating Vegas for the last two seasons. They are currently on a 6 game losing streak to them and have lost 9 of their last 11 meetings with them with their only wins coming in last years playoff series after going down 3-0 and then getting smoked out in game 6. Vegas will most likely 4-0 them.
