Or Basic Med. I didn’t include Basic Med in this video because I wasn’t seeing a lot of confusion between the three medical classes and basic med. I was and am seeing a lot of confusion regarding Class I, II and III privileges, how long the privileges last, and what happens when they expire. Basic Med is a different program than the AME, so the process of complying is different. I have added Basic Med to my list of future video topics. Hopefully, that will better cover the entire medical certification spectrum from a Private Pilot perspective. Thank you for your comment!
More coming this week. I am putting the finishing touches on it, tonight. And, I’ve started a short as well. Thanks for the motivation!! Have a great evening!
Thank you. Good question. This is probably the most confusing of the expirations (because it doesn’t round out to a year). The way it is described in 61.23 is… “your medical certificate expires, for that operation, at the end of the last day of the 6th month after the month of the date of examination shown on the medical certificate.” So, if you were examined in January, the counting would start in February (the month after the date of your examination). I hope this helps.
