As a combat sports fan who has only recently gained an above casual level of interest in boxing, your videos are helping me gain a ton of knowledge on essential boxing history. Your videos are extremely well produced and I always look forward to them, keep up the great work
Whoever did this video does excellent editing. I forgot this bout was slamming. But I do remember feeling bad for Khan when he said I'm ok. This video reminded me & IMO showed they both gave it all!
Him and brooke tried to bring back old school. Cant remember someone moving up 2 weight classes and winning since mosley, de la hoya, duran, leonard, and pacquiao, diaz.
I think Amir's biggest problem was his lack of defense, whenever he got knocked out it was by perfectly timed power bombs, the type which would knock out anyone. He got too involved in offense and relied too much on his natural speed and reflexes, and he would forget that the opposite boxer is just looking fot the opportunity to knock him out
Nonsense. Khan was quick, but lacked power. I fought light heavy in the Army. If your opponents' power is lacking, it frees your hands up to be aggressive.
Very very well done that ref. Amir said “I’m ok” but he didn’t mean it, he didn’t want to carry on, and had already taken several heavy blows - the type that can cause long term damage. The ref used his intuition, and rightly so.
Great in that he did mix it with the best, failed a couple of times, won against some good names but had top deal with the obvious vulnerability, dodgy chin. His speed of punches helped to off set that problem.
@@brandonmansell No.The fact that his chin wasnt good but still made a successful career, beating devon Alexander Marcus Maldana nearly stopping him but winning was a huge achievement for him.Tommy Hearns had a glass chin and look how good he did.Same as Khan so shut it hater
Khan is above alot of these undefeated guys for me pmao.. he had balls of steel, when you get knocked out and keep getting in with the elite.. you can't discredit.the man.. he was light-years ahead of some of them skill wise but he got countered alot and had a bad chin.. best hand speed probably ever
6:43 It was the body punch that really set up that knock down at 38 seconds left in the third. Ppl to this day underestimate the possible effects of that shot on this fight. Also kinda weird going back and listening to Amir talk about drug cheats the way he did in the build up to this fight after that strange fight in the US
Good eye! I knew that it looked like that hurt him. But he also could do acting, since he can pretend like it doesn’t hurt him. He’s a tough dude for sure
Just started watching but I already want to make a request Felix 'Tito" Trinidad vs Bernard Hopkins. Madison Square Garden September 29th 2001. A True crossroads for two great fighters, one a Welterweight champion with a nation behind him coming up to meet a Middleweight juggernaut, and the other, the fight that would along with his belts ultimately help propel him into being a PPV fighter and a guy Oscar De La Hoya would later seek out... That was a defining fight for Trinidad and what would spur Hopkins legacy on to what it would ultimately become
Say what you will, Amir Khan is a warrior of the sport and a lot of mf would have packed it up and went home a long time ago... but my goodness Danny Garcia was about as upright as you could be, throwing with some really bad intentions. Amir was out on his feet for a long long time. both these dudes CV is crazy
Expertly done! Great video and breakdown, Danny swift is definitely a beast but idk if he’s as hungry as he once was, and Amir was definitely a standout boxer and I loved his style but his chin ended up being his downfall, he was always game tho
@@daveking777 That's your opinion, but he also fought Canelo, Crawford, Maidana and Judah who would all be superior fighters to Brooks who was probably barely known outside the UK.
@@waffle_burger8499 He ducked Brook. He told Brook to his face, on national tv, that he'd knock him out. Then he spent his whole career avoiding backing those words up. Of course he took on some big names. If he loses, he loses little. But a loss to Brook would've stopped his career in his tracks and he knew it. It was Hatton and Witter all over again. DUCK!
For Garcia it was the biggest win in his fight career, other than that he came up short when he moved upto welterweight. The fight between khan was close to being stopped in Khans favour due to a cut on Garcias eye. I dont think this is the fight that buried Khan as he came back much stronger at Welterweight until he made a stupid decision to move up and fight Canelo, when in reality he was ready to face one of the top fighters in Thurman or Porter. Khan under Vigil seemed a much improved fighter and this showed against his fights against likes of Collazo and Alexander.
It might not of completely buried his career, but it confirmed to many that Khan didnt have the necessary skills to be a high level, A-class fighter, which proved to be true.
Nearly beat some big names and beat two, Marcus Maldana and Devon Alexander but got robbed by Peterson. He isnt quite HOF but he did well considering the weak chin he had pal.His handspeed was a great as Pacquiaos
I don't think Danny G has as much drive as he did back then. One things for sure though; he's always got that mean left hook, giving him that "punchers chance" against anybody.
I personally don’t think khan had a glass chin , Danny Garcia can punch very hard but also had great accuracy and timing , all those shots he hit Amir with would of dropped most fighters in the top 10 on that day , khan with stood a hammering an fought back an hurting garcia in doing so , Prescott was just one of those things can happen to anyone , so look at it like this any fighter any division taking those accurate bombs i think it would be the same result as khans , heart of a lion thou just a bit to game for his own good 🥊🥊
@@daniellozan350 Generally KO'd by naturally bigger, heavier fighters. Mismanaged his career and was never a natural welterweight. He wouldn't have been a glass chin against opponents his size
Once Garcia figured out Khan's timing, He hit Khan square in the face over and over again =))) speaking of good timing. I don't think Khan has good timing at all. He was only good at throwing flurries (which was easy to counter cuz they lacked power).
Most definitely, Khan had the guts to fight. Losing is part of the trajectory of an elite boxer and he was one. He deserves lots of recognition and respect. The biased commentators are clueless.
Other than Spence where Danny didn't let his hands go for most of the fight (when he did he had success mind you) his losses to Thurman and Porter were real close fights imo. He controlled Porter better then any other SP opponent imo and his defense was very good in that fight. I actually thought Garcia beat Porter.
A lot of people had that fight for Danny, even Erol Spence said Danny beat Porter. The Thurman fight was a split decision by one round in Thurman’s favor, I think Danny was punished by the judges in that fight because of the racial stupidity of his dad towards Thurman during the press conference, I gave that fight to Danny. Keith was never the same after that fight. Errol was the one who really out fought Danny and had a clear decision.
Kahn was a fantastic fighter. His combination punching speed was unmatched. His defence and his stubbornness to brawl when clipped was his downfall. He wasn’t necessarily chinny. Look at the Maidana fight. Weight drained for the Canelo fight, and the Prescott KO.
Danny Garcia is still a good boxer. He moved up to jr middleweight 154 ibs and beat Jose Benavides Jr the actor that played in Creed 3 fighting against Damien. He will rise in his division.
This is my second favourite Khan fight after the Maidana one because it shows perfectly Khan's strengths and weaknesses. Garcia at 140 was a properly great champion who probably doesn't get the respect he deserves, possibly because his dad is a sausage.
The announcers did a bad job for the garcia fight. They was to busy praising khan to see thay danny was landing and couhtering effectively in those early rounds. Danny timing was great
Never knew much about Khan but always thought he was overrated, which put me off wanting to watch his fights. After watching that, I actually think he was brilliant. Unfortunately, while he can certainly throw a punch, he can’t seem to take one very well. From my limited boxing understanding, it looked like he was winning this until that savage first hook floored him. IMO, the ref should have ended it before starting the 4th round. Great fight from both.
@@Marvellous132 Ahh you floyd fan boys sticking up for him when he turns good opponents down.Khan put Maldana on his bum and nearly stopped him which was better than floydy boy did.
I kind of wish that Floyd Mayweather had fought King Khan as last professional fight. Instead of Andre Berto I was at that fight live and I remember when Khan was calling him out I think it would’ve been an action packed fight and I think Floyd would have stopped him with a check hook in The later rounds also it was a lot of empty seats in the arena that night lotta fans didn’t want to see that fight..
Khan was a very good boxer but he often came unstuck because he wanted to be a puncher. In most of his losses he was comfortably out pointing his opponents who’s only hope was knock Khan out. Khan thinking he could mix it with anyone was happy to slug it out but often got caught flush and went to bits. His record was good but could have been much better had he stuck to out boxing his opponents
That's how you react when you have heart and really want to keep going. Khan gets so much flack from shitty fans, but he always took big chances and gave his best, win or lose. Something you don't see regularly.
Khan otro que no supo aprender de sus contrincantes. los destruía a todos hasta que encontró a uno que no podía destruir y no tenía experiencia para enfrentarlo.
Amir was a great fighter and champion. People are very rude when they say things about him. But he fought everyone. And he always fought his heart out. And danny is a great champion as well
Honestly believe if khan had a better defense he’d be better I don’t think it’s cause he has no power it’s more so people know he can’t take a good punch
See Danny Garcia should ve fought canelo or Chino Maidana, instead of Amhir KUNNNNT. 😅 Boxing bring very good against the best, but not the best against the best.
Better than China glass At least he beat 13 World champions Maidana, Alexander, Barrera, Molina, Collazo are all world champions who got knocked out by Khan
I hated Khan till he eventually fought Brook. He was a world champ I watched him beat Kotelnik live he was not overrated. Over matched at times but never overrated .
@brianmorecombe2726 how am i casual. Have probably watched more fights than u have hot meals. He was overrated coz he came from the asain community who had no other high profile figjters to get behind. He had a glass chin and was overrated
Doesnt matter.Courage aswell as speed of punches he had it up there with all of them.Him getting whacked out by a guy a weight above who did peds is irelevant..
@@ChromeMan04 Floyd fought Maidana twice after Khan won the fight Khan fought Canelo and Crawford who both hit harder than Floyd Floyd can't handle speed
