Dang. I always assumed Cheng Ji straight up charged at Cao Mao and killed him. Not only was he a spy for Sima Zhao inside of the Emperor's guard but he straight up backstabbed Cao Mao and threw his body on the ground.

I'm gonna guess that the most common way of killing emperors was strangulation.

While I'm not the biggest fan of Game of Thrones, I can't be the only one who is imagining Jaime Lannister shoving his sword through Aerys' back in front of the Iron Throne. I suppose it says a lot about me that I like both Sima Yi and Tywin Lannister.

I think Wang Jing's precise advice to Cao Mao in regards to the restoration of the imperial power can be used as parameter to outine the scenario of the conflict between Cao Mao and Sima Zhao in this terms: Cao Mao has the emperor of the Wei Dynasty,and by definition and concept,the supreme representation of the will of the heavens he is the figure that everyone in the empire has to respect even if was for only to fulfill protocal rules,which in the end means that,even considering that Sima Zhao's intentions of usurpation was clear to be seeing,he won't make at least temporarily any direct moves that against Cao Mao until his preparations are complete,which in turns gives Cao Mao some time to preparing yourself to wait a advantageous circunstance to be used as steeping stone to have more chances of achieving a possible victory,and considering that at least the symbolic of cerimonial title that the Emperor title has even without political or military power he could assemble and gain the services of possible loyal talents in that they will be willed to give their lifes for his ambition like Wang Jing was for example,but in the end Sima Zhao's prudence clearly overcome Cao Mao's in all senses.

I wonder which manner of regicide are more frequent: Dying by the blade, dying by poison, or dying by strangulations? Going out of a story armed sounds the most glorious of all options

why Cao Mao didn't order the guard to keep the 3 Wang inside the palace, given their reluctance to join in the plot? why he just allow them to leave right away like that?
