19:50 I always interpreted Kaori disappearing during the performance as the moment she died during surgery

And the director for the show said that the cherry blossom petals shooting out of Kaori was imagery of a supernova - the death of a star.

She died during his performance that’s why he cried in the end, he could feel it. That’s also why she slowly disappeared.

Some people say that it was a vision or something that was only in Kousei's head when Kaori appeared during the performance of Chopin's Ballade. The anime doesn't include it, but the original manga has something that hints that Kaori WAS actually there with Kousei even if she was only visible to him. In the manga, during the same performance, Tsubaki, who was of course in the audience, had a facial expression of great amazement and uttered: "Kao...chan." It seems that Tsubaki, too, felt the presence of Kaori although, unlike Kousei, she was not visible to Tsubaki.

Months passed between Kousei being handed the letter in the cemetery, and his opening it to read it. I take that as his healing and grieving time.

Id say the ending was fulfilling. Although it did break my heart but it was for the better since if Kaori survived and ended up with kousei we wouldve forgotten about her but because of this ending we remember her more. Im glad i was able to connect so much with the characters and the whole anime. It wasnt just the sadness ,rather it was the comedy ,wholesomeness,music,adventure what touched me so much and made me cry. Your Lie in April made me cry . This anime may have saddened me for now but in the long run its a beautiful once in a lifetime experience that im glad i experienced for the 1st time. It shall forever be closest to my heart and shall remind me to appreciate life.

I think ...... Kaori became a star. Kousei is a fixed star. "a fixed star" (In Japanese, it is "Kousei".) Therefore, Kousei and Kaori became Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars. ...... . I am a Japanese. Thank you. ( I am weak in English. I am sorry.)

Kinda surprised you missed the implications that she died during surgery while he was performing (thats why he began to cry and saw her disappearing, and said "goodbye" afterwards). But that's alright, this anime is still beautiful 💙

She had surgery, but the doctors said that it's a 50 50 chance. If the surgery fails then she dies. Sadly that's what happens. The last episode was sad but it does have a OVA that I watched that made me cheer up.

so i have a lot to unpack.... - kousei is whom inspired kaoru since they were young, from that one concert it appears. so she's always known that she loved him in a way. - the surgery was apparently high risk so..... yeah that wasn't gonna end well. - one way trip with an extra espresso depresso yay!!!! - i don't cry outward, this show just wrenches my insides like a twisted pretzel.... you done great holly, onward to future reacts. to more emotional damage

I honestly don't know if I hated this show or loved it. It is just somewhere in between I guess. He keeps loosing the people he loves and is left behind. Truly sad.

something I've always wondered whether Kousei blames himself for Kaori's death. He convinced her to do the surgery so they can perform together again, so does it mean her life was cut short because she hoped to perform again with Kousei? If so, did she die early because of him?
@jacksan1
@jacksan1 Год назад
Strictly speaking, if Kaori had not gone for this surgery, she would have lived longer, but by not that much longer. She would have simply let the illness consume her, with nothing to look forward to with realization that she has been defeated. Instead, Kaori found something to look forward to, namely spending more time with Kousei and even performing with him one more time, and because of that, she decided to go for broke by choosing the very risky surgery, that could have potentially, but without any guarantee, given her and Kousei just a tad little more time (her doctor was clear that even a successful surgery was not going to ultimately save her). The surgery was Kaori's way to say: "This is how I am going to live or die. I am going to live for whatever the amount of time remaining by my own choice, and my choice is to have a chance, even if it's remote, for more time to spend with Kousei."
@byeepeee9817
@byeepeee9817 Год назад
@@jacksan1 I don’t disagree with what you said :). Just putting myself in Kousei’s shoes, if somebody’s life, irrespective of whether it might make it more fulfilling, was cut short because of me, even by a few months, I think I’d still feel very terrible about it.
@jacksan1
@jacksan1 Год назад
@@byeepeee9817 I definitely see your point. A helpful reference point is the book "Ichigo Doumei" that became a talking point in several episodes. Kousei was trying to distinguish what was happening to him and Kaori from the hero and heroine of "Ichigo Doumei." In that book, the heroine, Naomi, just gave up. Flat-out nose-dived. And died, not too much long after the hero of the novel, Ryouichi, played Ravel's piece about a dead princess (great choice bud). Kaori was for a while on the same trajectory as Naomi, until Kousei said to Kaori, "Will you play with me again?" Since Kaori, too, had read the book, I'm sure they understood each other. "No way will I play Ravel" was Kousei's way of saying to Kaori, "I'm not going down that path." And we know how Kaori responded. She was not going down that path, either.
@jacksan1
@jacksan1 Год назад
@@byeepeee9817 One another angle is Kaori's parents. They were onboard with the idea of their daughter's surgery, even though it was without any doubt an extremely difficult and painful decision on their part. Were they sorry that they allowed the surgery to happen? Maybe. Which parents do not want their child to live longer? But at the same time, they thanked Kousei. Kaori's parents knew why she chose this path. And they thanked him.
