Really interesting choices. I usually conquer Cisalpina before plunging into Sicily. I guess that mod really changes stuff though. And I loved the intro, by the way. You did a fantastic job at storytelling lol

Haha, thank you. Yes, honestly, conquering Cisalpina makes more sense, and I would recommend it if you are playing for efficiency. But I am playing with historical expansion routes in mind. In fact, if you are playing for efficiency, there is no reason not to invade Africa from Carthage ASAP. And also destroying Epirus by taking over Apollonia when they are weak instead of suing for peace.

Its been a year since you uploaded this, but i want you to know when I'm on patrol and no calls are coming in, i sit somewhere quiet and just watch this play through over and over. Its one of my favorite series. I still play DEI to this day but i just cant replicate the intensity and the enjoyment i get from watching you play which makes me laugh, but you did amazing with this series, i hope you decide to return to it and make a second playthrough!

Definitely going to be sticking around especially if you continue with the epic cinematics, I can see the Kings & Generals inspiration in them, it's very well done! Also the fact that you're trying to mirror history is awesome, the pains you have taken to mirror history is evident, I mean all the way down to historical Roman battle formations! That's just unheard of in the Total War community here on RU-vid! I do have one question though, what's your end goal? I take it you intend to conquer historical lands that the Romans actually conquered but how far do you intend to take it? Late Republic borders or Roman Empire?

If you want to mimick a real Legion you should limit the triarii to half, just recruit 2 for instance and the pedites as well, also the roman cav was very limited, usually around 300 in a Legion, the socii made must of the cav sometimes numbering 900 in a Legion. You could use the extra slots for ballista or mercenaries, or even rorarii to help protect the flanks

Ballista were used that often in field battles by the Romans. There are very few instances of it being used. And while I can recruit the triarii to half, I opt against it because then you miss the number of maniples matching the hastati and principes. So, the checkboard for the last line would be incomplete. I think the best way was if the triarii just had fewer men per unit. Technically, yes, socii formed most of the Roman cavalry with a ratio of 3 is to 1. However, I made them pop4 peregrini. So I felt it a bit cheesy to use 6 socii 2 latin and went for an even split of 4 and 4. But yes, you are right it can be more historical. But I've gone as historical as I can with the game play experience in mind and not to abuse the system. Thank you for that write-up, much appreciated ❤️

Rome 2 DEI is the best total war experience IMO. I'm in the middle of an Etruscan play through with faction unlocker. I beat Rome and just conquered North Africa from Carthage. Taking Latium took a lot of really close battles and some Liberation use to get allies. I liberated Syracuse and helped them secure the island. Without them I'd be dead already I think.

Just started Rome campaign with this (new for me) mod on hard level and got in trouble delaying conquest of Epirus and Etruscan’s, which turned for worse when Cartage declared the war ). Well, I had to fast roll Etruscs, lots of money spent on mercenaries (luckily I managed build some economy instead of conquest), still fighting 3 full stack armies and controlling cities was hard, save spammed couple of times. Until, Epirus took my city who was just conquered by Cartage. I planned to retake it next turn, but Epirus was like a rat taking it after my desperate defense and taking 50% of the cartage army. So, this was a casual beli for me (I made a peace with them at the start). So I took my city back by destroying 2 armies ))) and my reserve army took that Epirus appendix on Peninsula hahaha))) still it was a headache, pain in the ass and save spam. Well, now I found this channel and feel myself and idiot )))

This naval battle was really crazy. I always struggle in sea battles, even if I have more ships than the enemy.. thought ramming is only effective from the side but you even rammed them from the front

Bigger ships are better at ramming. They are slow moving and can be outmanouevered and boarded by many smaller moving ships, so it is always a good idea to keep a reserve line of ships that can "liberate" a friendly that has been boarded.

I am running out of Citizen to rebuild my completely destroyed legions but I won’t give up!! Finally captured Syracuse in the last turn but they already sent more armies to counter attack 😂 crazy mod …

I usually find it best to just destroy Epirus as a faction. They are quite strong and in many of my campaigns they manage to conquer Greece and Macedonia and then declare war on me while I’m fighting Carthage.

The only thing that i dont understand in this mode is that why is there 200 men in one unit, we can already add more than 20 units in army so why is it still naccessary to have 200 men in one unit until its not something like cohort where u got 400 men(historicaly there was 480 men as i know in a single cohort). Everything else is just perfect, great content

The thing is on Rome 2 the rise of imperium (as a consequence of land expansion) shouldn't hurt loyalty of factions. Unless of course, characters in those factions stand to gain nothing from the republic's successes. If they lead armies and are promoted, they should have a long term loyalty boon.

Idk at the moment bruh i think the mod isn't updated and the script is broken for now. But previously all you had to do was take corsica and Sardinia and Sicily from the Carthaginians.

How did you edit the army upkeep costs? I would love to know how to do this in Rome II. Everything I find online doesn't go into editing files and they seem to only apply to Rome I and Attila.

What's your setup? Your performance is so good despite all the mods.. ;; Some tips: 1. Always leave Cosentia garrisoned by AOR lucanian hoplites and slingers. Carthaginain stacks will attack it repeatedly. 2. Feel free to sack and loot settlements, you still get the income even after sacking. 3. If playing with 41 unit armies, always invest in more cost efficient units than elite units. 4. It is completely worthwhile converting massalia or epirus into your client states. Their auto resolve is pretty good and will help against carthage.

mod maker (Realistic Expansion for Divide et Impera grand campaign) said: "A scripted peace between rome and carthage is declared after rome takes the mediterranean islands. This feature is currently turned off because people have been reporting problems with it. But I have just been testing it and it seems to work fine. So if you want to turn this feature on, then set the Car variable to true. But do this in the beginning of a campaign."

The realistic legion submod available on steam has to be on top of everything else and also is not compatible with other mods that add units to DEI.

45:25 oh I dislike this event. If you accept, these bandits will reduce support for your opposition but also reduce the loyality by 10. on the contrary, if you refuse, they will hire them and you lose support. What I miss is a third option, arrest the bandits. It should cost money but also increase loyality. 49:15 did you notice it? The woman's rank increased with this mission.

I always prefer loyalty over support. Yes I am aware, sending females on any of the diplomatic missions will increase their rank, this is especially very powerful as the Nomads and other factions with female leaders, with which you can actually get really highly ranked females in about 6-7 turns of spamming diplomatic missions. Very good for governor generals and governor admirals.

I love this series and your mods. Inspired me to start my own campaign. Only issue I ran into is that my "Principes Samnitici" and some other auxiliary units draw from my Plebes populations instead of Peregrini like yours do. What could be the cause of this?

Just installed the mods, Im at about the same point in the game you are, but AOR and romanized units are still being recruited from 2nd class, not 4th. Is that a feauture that you did not include in the mod?

Conquer Sicily and Corsica and Sardinia. And the submods need to be active at game start. It is not save game compatible.

India, but I've lived mostly in the Middle East, so it is very mixed. But still quite Indian as well.

Doesn't the level 3 Aux. barracks in Corsica and Sardinia give you Sardinian Archer Auxiliaries once you have Imperial Reforms? It may not be "optimal", but I like to have an Auxiliary Baracks in every region. I like unit variety, and the AOR/Auxiliary units in this mod make me very happy.

I am playing with a submod that removes the caps for Auxilia units, that being said the best missile Auxilia units for Roma are the Balearic slingers, Syrian archers and the Cretan archers. Historically as well these were the most used ones. So I stick to those.

@@TWSummary Fair enough. I just like the idea of having the conquered peoples be represented in the army; and that's in anything, not just this game/mod. I never got far enough in my own Rome campaigns to see if there are ahistorical Auxiliaries (i.e. Germans or Persians), but that's something that I personally would really enjoy...though I know there are lots of people who prefer things to be historically accurate. P.S. Thanks for replying! I honestly wasn't expecting that.

Hi I´ve been trying to play this mod with the realistic expansion so that carthage automatically makes peace after taking the island like in the video. I saw the creator deactivated this scrypt due to some issues but he says about a possibility to change the scrypt by changinf the Cat variable to true in the code. After doing that and starting a new game Carthatge wont make peace after takimng the islands. Anyone here has tried this mode and had the same issue? Could you find a solution?

I do that no matter what difficult I play on. I don't like adding unbased stats to the AI. Unfortunately the AI doesn't get smarter with higher difficulty. High stats simply means the AI will have levy spears standing toe to toe with your legionaries in a 1v1.

@@TWSummary Yeah I know. The thing is in your first video you tried to lower the difficulty-but it did not work. In your second video where I wrote the comment, you obviously changed it again, this time with success. Especially in dei, playing on hard battle difficulty is just triggering(how they not give up despite the fact that they are surrounded:D)

I just took Sicily and Cortega from Carthage, but the script hasn't pop up yet, is it a bug or should I do something else?

@@TWSummary I'm going to make a new game and I'm going to use a few cheats to fast forward. my theory is that the event won't appear if you don't let the script start the war with Carthage. In this game it was me who, after defeating Pirro, declared war against Carthage and did a blitzkrieg, so I think that's It. I'll tell you

At 41 minutes you upgrade your military traditions, your general is at level 3 and you get 3 skill points and a total of 6 skill points from just 2 levels. I don`t get this. Is it new for the 1.32 build or are one of your mods doing it?

You always get 3 points for army tradition. It's only 2 points per general skill, initially.

@@TWSummary i get 2 points from first level up, then i get 1 point in next level up. I get 3 points total in level 3 were you get 6 points. I get 5 points in first general level up then 3 then 2.
