It's winter but we're making progress on The Flatrock Food Forest! This is the 5th instalment in our series. Most of you may not know that we're in zone 5b and despite our short season, we have lots of options! We've got big plans for plant out in the spring including almost 70 fruit/nut/berry trees as well as a 100 tree shelter belt! In this video, we map out our permaculture zones, discuss our issue with wind and the solution. The problem of wind is actually just a lack of trees. Who would have thought that the problem is the solution! We talk about some of the tree choices for the food forests, the arrangement, and our shelter belt arrangement.
