Zanza the Divine is Zanza's final boss theme. The God Slaying Sword is SHULK'S final boss theme.

Sharla finished this fight for me with Head Shot. She defeated a god by shooting it in the face. 11/10

I love how Zanza's composure changes throughout this fight. He begins calm and almost apathetic, viewing you as we would view bacteria, something easily destroyed by simple actions, likely not taking the fight seriously because he believes he can toy with you. He momentarily loses his composure when you break the first vision tag, but he quickly pulls himself together. He begins to get annoyed at having to actually put in effort at the beginning of the second phase, but he doesn't really lose his composure. That all changes when the cutscene before the third phase begins. He is really annoyed by now, and is focusing all of his efforts into defeating you. Then Shulk gets the True Monado, and he finally loses his cool. His battle dialogue becomes increasingly shocked and enraged, and in some of the lines after he gets past half health, he sounds genuinely terrified. And it feels so good to hear this pompous, self-assured monster squirming in terror at Shulk's wrath. It's no coincidence that as compared to the second phase's 600K HP, the third phase only has 300K, while you have a much more powerful weapon than whatever Replica Monado you were using. Takahashi wanted it to feel like a power trip. What really sells it, however, is what comes after you defeat the third phase. At first, Zanza is enraged by Alvis's seeming defection, then when the symbol appears on the Monado, he falls quiet, so terrified that he can only stammer out, "T-that symbol..." and stare at his impending doom. When the Monado slices through him, he finally loses all his rage and terror, and seems resigned to his fate. There's a great comment on the upload of Majesty that goes into more detail about this. It makes you wonder what the symbol could mean. All throughout the game, the kanji that the Monado has had has meant different things. The Monado I's kanji means "machine," and it can only destroy Mechon. The Monado II's kanji means "man," to signal that it can now kill Homs in addition to destroying Mechon. What does the True Monado's kanji mean, then? "God."

The three most satisfying sounds of all time: - opening a soda can - popping bubbleplast - *"OURRGHHH"*

Zanza: "I am a GOD, you dull creature! And I will NOT be bullied by -" (Gets absolutely rekt by Monado Buster, Final Cross, Blossom Dance, Sword Drive, Mind Blast, etc.) Riki: "Puny god."

Was watching my younger sisters (mostly) blind play through of this. She likes playing as riki bc he can spit frozen chunks of saliva at enemies, aka freezinate. Final battle comes around and she's exclusively spitting chunks of spit at a god Not only that, she initiated a chain attack *just* so she could land the final blow with freezinate 100/10 best playthrough

When you win an argument against your parents

this track always felt more like the fear Zanza felt at the sight of Shulk's Monado, a new God has entered his realm, through his own hubris, he created that which can destroy him

wave 4 dlc: Shulk and Rex: Our time has come! Our destiny is our own! *the monado, the aegis, and the sword of the end appear and combine, creating a new sword* Alvis: Can it be? Alvis: The Xenoblade?

Not gonna lie, doing 72K damage with a Back Slash in a Chain Attack because of the Monado III at Level 82 was a pretty amazing moment.

This is the final boss music that Zanza hears

[ *Slight Spoiler Warning* ] I like how when the Monado is awakened by Reyn in the beginning of the game, the song that plays during the scene starts out like “The God-Slaying Sword,” but then spirals into a short, erratic symphony. It’s an interesting storytelling device that shows how the Monado in its first form is like a shackled, wild beast. But when Shulk uncovers his Monado, we get the noble sounding “The God-Slaying Sword,” which shows how Shulk was able to tame the Monado

Hearing Zanza scream in desperation as you wail on him was so damn satisfying.

Can we please appreciate the work of the english voice actor of Zanza? His last words and this: "It's ... vanishing!" That moment when Zanza finally realized that everything he is will be no more. This misbelief and the dread in his voice as he said "vanishing". That was amazing. That gives me the chills every time I see this scene.

Reyn ended up killing god with Wild Down. The one move i wanted him to use for the entire game but never did when it was needed. How fitting

Funny how Klaus was driven by the desire of achieving from a mortal standpoint what only a god could aspire to do, and created a world where a mortal could aspire to surpass a god. Shulk and Zanza are a lot similar.

All the comments about ending this with a chain attack make me feel bad... Zanza died too a poison earth + ice + flare + bleed while toppled...

One of the best Final Boss theme I've ever heard.

I got stuck in the first phase of the fight and didn't remember when I last saved so I just grinded for 3 days straight on the enemies zanza spawned until I hit level 80 and gave it all I had and honestly that memory cemented the game so hard in my heart and soul I might just write a bedtime story for my kids someday off it. "After three days and three nights of fighting, the boy raised his hands to the sky, and drew a third sword from the air. It was a sword all his own, one that would make the future he envisioned for everyone he loved and everyone he didnt. And so, he felled the evil God, and made the world of peace that he and everyone else longed for. The end."

When I killed Zanza, It was Melia who finished the Job with “Summon Earth” SUMMON BLOODY EARTH So basically, Melia chucked a rock at a god, and he died instantly.

A wild third Monado has appeared

Very big fan of how the first and second phase’s song for this fight sounds like you’re fighting a final boss, and then this third and final phase sounds like you ARE the final boss

I finished this battle with Shulk’s backslash. I actually screamed “BACKSLASH!!!” when it happened

The original version of this song sounded fine, but how garbled everything was made it sound way more ominous than a final boss theme should be. This, on the other hand, sounds properly climactic, the theme of a true final battle to determine the fate of the world. It's just a shame that I still beat the boss before the initial buildup ends.

I literally paused during a chain attack just to listen to this

Thank goodness for being able to lower your level with expert mode. This fight can actually last more than 2 minutes that way.

XC1's ending is a fever dream of sorts to me, I'd been playing the game up late for multiple weeks in a row and ended up awfully sick. Headaches, runny nose, bad coughs, the bad stuff. Despite that, I got up and binged out the last chapter of this game and I say it was 100% worth it. But damn this song is a good representation of that final moment with the almighty Monado III.

When the True Monado is activated the symbol that appears reads ‘God’ meaning the Monado can now hurt/beat a God. I mean if that isn’t the coolest thing I’ve ever seen I don’t know what is.

As someone who has never played Xenoblade before, this song is amazing.

The part of playing this game for the first time that I'll never forget is the moment the True Monado is slowly revealed, accompanied by the music truly kicking in.

After nearly 10 years of not finishing this game to a corrupted save file, I finally beat it last night. Man, am I SO GLAD I waited until Definitive Edition to experience the very end, because WOW this version of God Slaying Sword is so damn good.

This entire song is basically saying: Hell Yeah! I have the power of **GOD** !

I like how this game went from simply battling against murderous robots to beating the shit out of God.

I beat the shit out of him with Fiora and Melia, while I was Shulk. Everyone got to use their best attacks for the final chain attack.. Fiora used final cross, then Melia used mind-blast, and lastly, I finished him off with Monado Buster. If that's not a cinematic end to a final boss, I don't know what is! What an experience that game was... wow...

this song was extra satisfying for me because i was level 70 when i first fought zanzaa it was a long and hard battle, a jump in difficulty, but when i got the true monado, it was a legendary moment
