"are you sick of Flash games", like 3 minutes before this video dropped I was scrolling the channel for more games, but had already watched all of the latest Flash games so hell no I'm not sick of them
Yeah, man. I am sick of the greatest e-sports player of all time for sure, like what is that question by Arty? How ould anyone mildly interested in SC be sick of Flash games?
Sick of these games? I've been hoping for these games for like the last 4-8 years. I don't even know how long it's been but it's felt so very long time.
Flash came back to a completely changed meta. And said "Neah dude... I don't like to play this way. Let me change things up a bit. How about a goliath build vs zergs?"
You know on the old parts of the internet in the early 00's we used to meme about goliath+firebat being the ultimate tvz build and whenever someone would have a problem with the matchup we'd just post a picture of golbat from pokemon. It's pog to see a portion of the meme brought to life by the GOAT.
I will never be sick of Flash games, you shouldn't even feel guilty about it. I'm pretty sure most of us are fine with this channel just being Flash's road back to greatness. Don't stop until he wins another ASL.
Flash is at a point where he doesn't have to practice for a tournament so he can just try stuff nobody else is doing and its fine because its not like he needs to have his meta build perfect for any reason.
I don't think Jaedong stops that attack even with the army he threw away. I understand what Arty is saying but that looked pretty dang strong. Jaedong needed to pop the queens out earlier but was probably uncomfortable because he didn't know when Flash was going to attack. You can attack with 1-1, or 2-1, or 2-2, or, when Flash did, 3-2 (almost 3-3). Jaedong didn't know. How many games of double armory does Terran go past 2-1, against Zerg, and not attack? It's got to be almost zero games. That strategy by Flash looked really really strong.
Flash was expanding while pushing JD's natural. There was a group of hydras that killed the CC, but it made no difference given how far behind zerg was after the three vultures massacred the third's entire mineral line with impunity. No static defense will get your economy killed when vultures are in play. And mech is pretty vulture heavy. 🤪 Love these Flash replays! 🥰
"If you can win this position as Jaedong, ZERG IS IMBALANCED" 14:13 Meanwhile Flash has 0 map control, is down a base, and Jaedong has enjoyed this position the whole game. Flash should be able to turtle all game and win? Come on RT tell us _how you really feel._
Lolol we’re watching a jaedong game…… who happens to be playing flash. Gg. Never enough. Ever. When it is enough, go back chronologically, the 98 to 2000 era, 2000 to 04, 04 to 08, 08 to 10. All of it.
it feels like it would have been even stronger had the surprise valk not been picked off - kill the whole muta flock on the next dive-in since Jaedong is so focused on reducing goliath count, then send the vultures when there is no defense. Worked out anyways, but the sub-branches of this build's decision tree we got to see from this game was so interesting. It really looks like it forces zerg to be the aggressor, if they don't you're just letting Terran cement a massive upgrade advantage and they can strike out with vultures at the edges, and if they queen switch Terran gets an all but certain timing window that takes advantage of the upgrades. I don't even play SCBW so I'm just guessing, ArtosisCasts finna get me to install though.
In chess people often talk about “the Magnus effect“ where the best players in the world often make more mistakes against Magnus Carlson because he has demonstrated such unstoppable dominance in the endgame that other players feel like they need to “do something“ in the early-mid game so they kind of stick their necks out and end up making mistakes they would normally never make. I really think flash might have the same effect on people. They know in the endgame he’s gonna be unstoppable, so they feel like they need to do something early so they make mistakes they wouldn’t normally make. Amazing to watch.
Queen has talked about this during FlaSh's random run and FlaSh was against free when FlaSh randomed Terran. Queen said that you always have it on the back of your head that you "need a little more" until it comes to the point that you're cutting drones/probes too much for an advantage that won't amount to anything and FlaSh just wins.
100% I think this is the case. You're spot on. Flash always seems to know how much his opponent has, and the best ways to exploit that - where possible. This game was a great example of that: Jaedong was very aggressive with his Mutas early on, and tried to dwindle the goliath (and tank) count, but Flash held on and knew exactly when he had enough to just roll across the map - before ultras, before dark swarm, before adrenal, etc. He hit such an ideal timing. There's no doubt that topl-level players go into matches against Flash, knowing that they have a limited window in which they can win.
So far what im noticing about Flash is his game knowledge is absolutely flawless. He knows exactly when to setup defensively, when to push, when to sit for an economic advantage… like yeah you can tell he is trying stuff out and some of it doesn’t work but he seems like an absolute nightmare to play against… the type of player that always knows exactly where you’re at on economy and macro at any point of the game and always makes THE best move at any given time.
well years of playing provided him with great game sense and his stunning use of comsats allows him to make all those spot on decisions is how i explain that to myself ;)
I am a little sad to see JD nowhere near his prime lately.. Flash too but thats expected he's in the derust phase after military still.. I really want to see peak, prime time Flash vs JD again
If history is anything to go by - then this is a relatively rare period of time where Flash is still figuring things out in the meta. It feels like a huge privilege to be able to see it unfold (and have Artosis cast and break each game down), because - before long - Flash will likely get back to having 'solved' everything and be completely dominant once again. Of course, I'll never pass on Flash or Jaedong games anyway, but this feels like such a rare, unique time that won't last very long - and for those who are paying attention, it will be very very instructive.
As a student trying to learn SCBW/R, I was watching a lot of Flash’s replays from the past few days. He REALLY seems to like doing this Goliath build a lot. He seems to actually go +1 Vehicle Plating more often then not. So cool to see him using Mech so much against Zerg :o he even held a Hydra Bust with this build
I actually saw Flash preemptively go EMP in one of his Mech TvZs, but there was no queens when I think he was expecting to see them lol. It’s so fun seeing Flash experiment on the ladder!
Are you sick of flash games... Tired of scrolling hours and seeing nothing but flash BILLY MAYES HERE and for a $19.99 subscription we offer you a JaeDong game!
For months I have watched basically no terrans make goliaths against zerg and no terrans beat zerg. Flash plays three games, makes 100 goliaths and just walks accross the map and kills literal top asl zergs. What are we watching.
If you change the name to FlashCasts and follow through, I have no doubt this will improve the growth of the channel. Never apologise for casting the GOAT, the actual GOAT, not the bullshit GOAT, I mean of all games ever 😅
Hey Arty, could you show me some games around 2016, 2015 and 2014 before Flash came back to brood war from Sc2 back then. Would love to see how it was back then, as it sounds interesing seeing how the meta was back then (And just to see if the arbiters being broken thing is true back then)
10 carriers ...20 carriers 1257 carriers does not matter 16 valkyries 1 shots it. in smaller numbers 12 valkyries will drop carriers on equal upgrades (only weapons for valks) to 90hp and the carriers cant kill them before they fire a second time. since they are 4 vs 8 supply you have roughly half his supply in carriers and easily defeat them
What a beautiful game... RT when i watch your stream (AYAYA) I feel your Goliath builds do you good. Do you agree or am I just another guy in the chat.
We are NOT sick of Flash games. We want more. More analysis. More Flash. Flash in beast mode. Was I the only one watching the top left of the screen at those upgrade timings?! GG!
Would be nice to not only have such historical tidbits in casts, but in episodes alone. Like "starcraft history" in parts, each of 1-3 year periods where the players and their performances (and the meta) could be explained. This is something is missing a lot in esports based on long standing games. The history is missing.
Hey artosis, thanks for the cast! You mentioned talking about how flash returned from sc2 and solved arbiter, could you go into more detail regarding that? I'm curious what he changed!
goes away for a long time, gets involved with a shady crypto scheme and loses reputation, waits out the hate, and returns! yaaaaay! it's all okay because he's so GOOOOOD.
I mean yeah PvT definitely easier than TvZ when you have emp that takes half life off everything Protoss has including buildings, and don't have to deal with Ds ..
Flash timing was just beautiful. Just the perfect combination of having a huge army with the queen's still not ready. And with so many Goliaths I not sure if jaedong could just sit and use the broodlings on tanks without losing the queens
Not tired of Flash games! In fact I will be sad if there isn't more, we are in a unique time and its super interesting. Plus you're obviously excited about it and that makes the content a lot more enjoyable!
Going mech against zerg to me has always been tricky, because from my experience zerg would always ling rush, and i would always have a hard time defending against that
Spoiler: lol again with the Goliath + tank pushes. This kind of play punishes mutas hard and queens are not the answer. The switch to something else needs to happen a lot sooner before 2/2. Maybe not go so hard on mutas and do a huge ling wave with the push while still on 1/1?
What I'm seeing is that Goliaths put damage on Mutalisks no matter how good the Muta micro. It's not great damage but it is consistent. Now if only I could get Flash Goliaths that move where ordered instead of literally everywhere else.
I am just posting this so I can say I said it later. The new meta in TvZ will be Goliath Tank with Vulture/mine support replacing tanks and vultures with science vessels and or wraiths in later games until Zerg learns to counter with ultras in mid game.
Thought it was looking pretty good for JD with the big contain even after losing so many drones, but yeah that attack was definitely not the play. Though really, not losing those drones is what needed to change for him that game.
