There are many ways to dice an onion but the last way as seen in this knife skills tutorial video is my favorite way to do it by far!!

I enjoy your videos! They’re straight to the point & with my ADD, they’re perfect! I’d like your opinion, is it necessary to even make the 2-3 horizontal cuts? It seems cleaner to just make the vertical cuts. I mean, does it really help when chopping onions? Thanks in advance for the clarity.

So many RU-vid cooks will say that their methods are the "best". I like that Sonny doesn't say that his way is the be all and end all. He gives you three ways to do it and tells you which one he prefers. Great way to teach rather than talk at you. Subscribed.

I believe that when chefs say that you are pushing dirt into the onion it is actually more accurate to say 'pushing external bacteria into the onion'. Its more of a food hygiene concern. Just remember to wash your veg first!

I watched another channel about knife skills. She basically said you aren't going to get that speed doing 1 or 2 onions a day. If you're really serious, you need to go big and do 5 or 10 lbs at a time until it finally takes.

It's refreshing seeing someone willing to put in a few seconds of extra work to avoid wasting food. I took the vegetable scraps from someone's salad once and chopped up all the perfectly good bits she had declared to be trash. I got almost two cups of perfectly good food out of them.

Glad to know I dice onions one of the better ways that you showed. I dice mine like the Marco White way and have been doing it like that for 40 years + of cooking. If I want just slices I have them that way too. And I never cut off the root end to begin with as that was how my mother cut onions. Large family and money tight so all food had to be used and nothing going to waste. Nice rule to live by. Your videos are awesome and everything I’ve tried has been the best. My favorite so far was the chicken cutlets with panko. OMG to die for and never knew they could be so good, but also my first time frying chicken. Always cooked it in the oven or just plain in a skillet, but never again!
