Bro zylenox went from one of the most respected geometry dash creators to a Minecraft world record holder, this guy is crazy

Zylenox, having grown to fame in two communities, one as a master level creator, one as a speedrunner. Incredible.

I like how even with these insane records, we still find mistakes and little things that can be improved lol

This run wasn’t perfect, but it was pretty damn close. Often when we look back at records, some are described as “ahead of their time” This is 100% one of those runs

Lol in a normal game when I find a treasure map it takes me more than ten minutes to even find the treasure, I excavate the whole beach a lot of the time xD

After watching this video I learned I prefer a new category: no menu, no debug. Seeing all that debug 3/4 the run and all the settings swaps going on made me realize I wasn't watching minecraft, I was watching text. While cool from a speed perspective, really not that interesting as a viewer. If you liked it, that's awesome and I'm glad you liked it.

11:57 might be my favorite part. Man's basically guaranteed to get the WR in his sleep at this point since it's just using the beds to deal damage, but still shows little emotion until the job is actually finished. Gotta make sure you don't trip at the finish line o7

Minecraft speedrun might have been uterly ruined for me when they decided to allow the use of the calculator, effectively making it a TAS, still, I can't say I'm not impressed by his run. His awarness of his surrounding and the location of the fortress was highly impressive and he really did a good job.

It's such a magical feeling when you get closer to perfection, when every step is calculated, every move decides the outcome and only margins keep you from becoming a legend or the person that failed when it counted most. THIS is why we love speedrunning. THIS is why we pour hours upon hours into these games. Because WE don't settle untill perfection is achieved! Fantastic video mate!

This is my first exposure to a minecraft speedrun since the record was at 10 minutes! I had no idea buried treasures and lava ravines had become the new meta!

The beauty of speedrunning games in a community is always finding new ways to push your game of choice to do things that were previously thought impossible. Like with Victoria 3, we took a 50 minute run and brought it to 7:27 in the span of a day of work.

it's interesting seeing just how much of a difference mathematics and knowledge of game settings make in games like minecraft. it always fascinates me seeing how the numbers truly change how the games run

This record is incredible and it will probably take a while to beat but we are definitely nowhere near the end of RSG. There are still many strategies to be explored and much better luck to get. It is exciting to imagine what countless possibilities still await this category, let alone RSG as a whole.

I think the most interesting was that just a few years ago, before the piglin update, getting below the 1 hour mark meant you were *good* at the game, and even breaking that limit was HUGE

Just last night I was watching some old Karl Jobst videos and I thought to myself, man I wish you would post a new one. What a wonderful day!

Minecraft is really the silliest speedrun ever. You gotta do months of research just to get into it it seems. Then you have to have a computer beastly enough to run 15 instances of Minecraft.

when i first saw the run, i thought it was set speed because of how fast the movements were and the accuracy of the decisions made. my mind is blown that this was a brand new seed

Can't wait for 50 years from now when computers are strong enough to run 14 quintillion instances of minecraft at once so we can get the effect of set seed while technically in random seed

How does tabbing off and using a prebuilt calculator not count as a tool and make this a TAS?

i have been following minecraft speedruns for a very long time, the oldest thing i remember watching vividly (i had interacted with mc speedruns before this i just dont remember which runs they were) was sizzler's 7:37 ssg world record, it was phenomenal for the time. now we are nearly at that time with random seed glitchless. crazy. edit: i felt like it

Karl my man. I have followed you for years, and I am always excited to see a new video from you. The reason I like your videos, is because you have a great talent for making a narrative, that gets me interested and wanting to know more about the subject you are covering. Also, I really appreciate the way you explain things, when covering a certain topic. I have never played Golden Eye, but I can appreciate the speedruns in this game, because I can always count on you, to explain the game mechanics, strategies, different approaches etc. For a layman, this is extremely valuable. I believe that other viewers feel the same way. You are making speed running popular outside the speed running community. It is great feat in and of itself. But alas, this video does not live up to your usual high standards. I feel that you are rushing the narrative. There are no natural breaks when you speak, something that you usually have down to a very science. You are talking very fast, leaving no time for the viewer to let the information sink in. And no time for the viewer to try to imagine, what for example the next strategy will be, that breaks a game wide open. Usually when I am watching a video from you, I'm trying to think ahead, pondering what great feat you are going to mention next. I also really feel, that you did not explain Minecraft in a way, that a layman could understand. I have never played it, and I get very little information from you, in regards to what the objective is in the game, how to you achieve it, with what objects etc. All in all I feel like you rushed this video. Like you where in a great hurry. I mean this literally, you talk so fast. The video 13:46min, surely it would not have mattered if it was 20min or even more. I really like your journalism, I am following your feud with the big cartoon head and I have donated to you, to help you with legal fees. So please don't think that I am hating on you for hates sake. Minecraft is one of those games that's just so random and complicated that any speedrun completed for it is extremely satisfying to watch.

It helps at all modern speedruns are tool assisted runs as well having mods in the game now that automatically calculate where the dungeon is among other things

weird question. Since tools like the ender finder tool is allowed, can't you just create a tool that exactly locates the nearest treasure chest cutting like 30 seconds from a run?

3 months later: How The Greatest Cheated Speedrun Was Exposed

The calculator is cheating. Takes all the skill away from calculating where the end portal is. It also makes all the runs tool assisted speedruns, and it should only be allowed in a separate section from the main leaderboard.

I remeber a few years ago when like under 30 minuets in minecraft was ridiculously good and really impressive and then. This guy comes along and just beats it in. The time it usually takes me to get like half iron if i get an ocean spawn

i remember, back when you had to wait for nighttime and pillar up in the desert for enderpearls, and me having everything i needed (par enderpearls) 7 minutes in and feeling like the best player ever, the games gotten so fast its cool

Man I have been playing this game just as long as these speed runners but I just don’t even think I could even get close to their skill. Speed runners are just on another level. When they are legit and NOT cheating it’s just impressive to watch.

One thing I find fascinating about speedrunning is that in some cases it can take one or two years of ability grinding, for accomplishing a record of a couple of minutes or an hour or two. That is mind-blowing.

2 weeks later, “greatest minecraft speedrun of all time was fake!!”

I forgot you can now 'beat' minecraft, when I originally played it was just aimless and they just added the nether thing.

I remember when Karl said he was only joking that he was switching his channel to Minecraft-only content... Why am I so captivated by him rapid-fire listing off a bunch of items I’ve never heard of? He could be like, “It was incredibly lucky for the runner to find 13 wicker chairs in this gopher hole that he spawned next to, because with his knowledge of the game, he makes the incredible decision to combine them with raw pasta to make a doorway to the sky tower, where he still needs a lot of trade luck to get enough turpentine to build a giraffe gun.” That would make about as much sense to me as what I’m hearing, but I’d still be fascinated (cue the Jon Stewart eating popcorn gif).

Wow, I realized how fast they were doing complicated tasks, and I had to check the timecodes to see if it was sped up (it wasn't lol). This meta just proves you don't need to cheat the odds to make new records. Simply amazing.

This was unexpected because the luck was amazing and the run was getting so optimized. For this speedrunner, zylenox it was mind blowing.😲 He even beat some single segments during his legendary run as well. And remember this run was against doogs wr at the time.
