I suspect making the dude walk twice as far to the next closest convenience store is probably a worse punishment than actually calling the cops for this guy

He's the kind of guy that when he vacates a hotel room, he says; "Oh, this shower curtain is nice, this door mat looks great, these lightbulbs will come in handy at my new place, can always use another remote control, they won't miss this extra pillow !" 😅
What a weird thing to steal after already spending $15. He probably just wanted the rush of adrenaline from stealing and feeling like he outsmarted you guys, even if its something as little as cough drops and chapstick. 😂
I normally just play an online competitive video game if I want the rush of outsmarting someone. Whether I succeed or fail, I'm not a criminal, and I didn't cause any harm. I can sometimes get a little giddy whenever I successfully juke an opponent in those scenarios.
Most people steal for the thrill of it, the thrill of getting one over on someone and taking something you aren't supposed to. Not being able to afford something is rarely the reason.
I've noticed that with many of these thieves on this channel.. it's really weird... they will like buy smokes and drinks and spend 20 bucks and then steal a chocolate bar or something worth a dollar at the same time.. it makes no sense

I just caught a guy where I work, he was changing price tags. The problem was he had 4 items and swapped the tags on everything. Not only that, his swap made it so an item that could cost $30.00 go for $3.00. Once I started peeling off the fake stickers and scanned the real price he knew the con was up and tried to play dumb, but soon ran out of the store.
Why can't any of these petty thieves ever be like, "Ok, you got me. I know I shouldn't have done it man, I am sorry. It won't happen again."? Just at least once own up to what they did and take some personal responsibility?

They wouldn't call the police on a petty theft like that & waste their time. They know they have "way" bigger fish frying. Especially in that area. Just scare tactics as said before.
