Peter isn't "insane," he's a manipulator. He doesn't really care about the cake batter. He picked something to act jealous over so he could make Rebecca feel guilty and desperate to keep him. This was in direct response to the first control tactic he tried - when he tried to force her to come back to bed and she wouldn't, he learned he had to push further to get control over her. By making a scene and leaving, making her feel like she did something wrong, she'll be more likely to do what he wants in the future to avoid that punishment. It's classic textbook manipulation, and it takes a smart person to do that, not a crazy one. That's what's scary about Peter Quint - you guys bought his act until this moment, but people who've been abused will have seen his tricks from the start. Makes my skin crawl.

The actor who plays Peter actually has a British accent in real life, which is hysterical given the story's setting. Another fun fact: He is very handsome. Haaaaay.

About 28 minutes in: I believe Peter tells Rebecca: "You said you took this job because you didn't want old men looking up your skirt or down your blouse, but age them down and dumb them up, and you just open up when you're told, is that it? Do you have any idea what you look like?" Had an internship abroad that largely consisted of fielding calls from frustrated Brits (and Irish) all day. I got really familiar with a whole world of new (to me) accents in a very short time. 😅

the next episode is probably my fave of the season! and honestly peter is a textbook manipulator. gets jealous over something petty makes her feel guilty about it and then knows he can use that guilt to get her to do what he wants, it’s surprising to me how well the show wrote his character. loving your reactions guys can’t wait to see next weeks!!

Peter is a good example of a toxic relationship. A handsome man on the outside, but so rotten on the inside. It could have been so beautiful for both of them. What a shame.

That the guy is a bad person was clear at the moment when he talked to Miles about keys. He explained to him directly manipulative tactics that are used on other people. He uses them consciously to get what he wants. He is a narcissist. He is neither a psychopath nor mentally unstable, he is a control freak and he knows exactly what he is doing or has to do at any time if he doesn't like a situation. Everything he does is tactical. Maybe you remember the last episode, where Miles always talked about finding the right key to get out of school. And of course it is also noteworthy that Miles is in storytime in the role of a puppeteer.

The reason I usually hate watching reactions by men is because you’ll get like 5 scenes in a row of Peter Quint being nothing but red flags and then one of the reactors will say “idk if he’s a bad guy or not!” Like ?????? Peter has made my skin crawl from the second he appeared on screen and yet somehow so many dudes I’ve seen react to this is show are somehow weirdly charmed by him in the beginning? 😭😭 Edit: “red flags are starting to show”??? STARTING??? As if when he got angry over her talking about her job and demanding that she deserves better as a manipulation tactic in the very beginning wasn’t a red flag???
