Und panzer literally got me interested in tanks and the history behind them. Definitely an amazing show that I love.

In episode 4, there was a sign that says "マーケットガーデン" which just says "market garden" which is a detail that's extremely tiny and don't blame you for not going "huh what does that sign say?" And finding out. There's probably more details like that so if you can read Japanese, it could be a nice scavenger hunt.

I've talked with some guys who've worked in both British and American moter pools and both report "suspicious" wear patterns on tank tracks. Dropping the fluff they had sideways wear patterns that could only come from drifting the tank. So yes you can drift a _modern_ tank and the guys in the motor pool totally will not rat you out... If you bribe them with favors that is.

As a tank driver: You very much can drift a tank, and it's just as fun as it sounds. You just have to be on snow or ice, anything like mud and you'd just throw the tracks instantly, and asphalt or dirt aren't slippery enough.

Fun fact: The Panzer 38(t) platform was kept by the Swedes well into the 1970s. They modified the suspension a little and put an APC hull on the chassis and turned it into an APC. This thing is the Pansarbandvagn 301. It funny seeing a pre-WW2 tank chassis (Czechoslovakia was partially annexed [only Bohemia was annexed Slovakia still existed] in 1938 and they already had the Panzer 38 (t)s or LT. v38 as they were in Czech description) serve well into the Vietnam War era.

the hotline to hell was a soviet joke, saying when Nixon visited the soviet union he found a hotline to hell, which he used to contact the demons briefly and was charged 27 cents for the call. After he got back to the US he tried to call the line again and got through, he also talked a little with the demon but this time he was charged over 1000$. He asked the phone company why and was told that in the US it count as international call, but in the soviet union it was just local rate. and the hotline to hell here symbolized 2 things, one is that the US had direct communication with the soviet union despite depicted it as evil (the red telephone for example), and the other is that the US was spying on the soviets.
