Where did you get that the Russian small arms production was sufficient? They imported more rifles than they produced (3.7 mil vs 3.3 mil) and they ended up with 9 different rifles using *7* different cartridges. 'Great' for logistics. Not to mention the mgs.

Don't think so. Lemme state, we can be both right. Initially the Russians had sufficient production. As war progressed all became scarce and they had to import stuff.
@simplicius11
@simplicius11 3 года назад
@@HistoryHustle Heh, what you want to say? That the Russians had enough rifles for peacetime? They suffered huge deficit after two months of war in both rifles and ammo. In October 1914, the General Directorate of the General Staff of Russia informed the Minister of War that there was a shortage of 870,000 rifles in the active army: 585,000 for the recruits of the 1914 conscription, 170 thousand for replenishment according to the requirements of the fronts, 93 thousand for reserve battalions. Actually, later, during the war they managed to increase production but never even close to satisfy the needs. And as they were a second rate ally, Britain and France had the priority.
@HistoryHustle
@HistoryHustle 3 года назад
That's what I want to say. Russia was prepared for a short war. They - and other nations also - expected WW1 to be short. When that wasn't the case most countries switched over to higher production. Russia wasn't able to do that and thus shortages became rampant.

@HistoryHustle

Good question. I believe these were not initially summoned, but later in the war when there was a manpower shortage. It caused much upheaval and tsarist forces had to put the uprising down. Later during the Russian Civil War more violence would occur in the region, as it did occur in other regions of the former empire.

LOL, your rf had nothing to with ussr/west victory . "The last major famine to hit the USSR began in July 1946, reached its peak in February-August 1947 and then quickly diminished in intensity, although there were still some famine deaths in 1948.[1] The situation spanned most of the grain-producing regions of the country: Ukraine, Moldova and parts of central Russia. The conditions were caused by drought, the effects of which were exacerbated by the devastation caused by World War II. The grain harvest in 1946 totaled 39.6 million tons - barely 40% of the yield in 1940. With the war, there was a significant decrease in the number of able-bodied men in the rural population, retreating to 1931 levels. There was a shortage of agricultural machinery and horses. The Soviet government with its grain reserves provided relief to rural areas and appealed to the United Nations for relief. Assistance also came from the Ukrainian (mainly Ruthenian) diaspora and Russians from eastern Ukraine and from North America, which minimized mortality.[2][3] While the cause of the famine is generally attributed to the drought in combination with the existing infrastructural and economic damage of the war, some historians have criticized the government's response as being not as effective as it could have been.[1] For example, during the crisis, the USSR continued with export obligations under the fourth five-year plan,[1] with the majority of it going to the Soviet zone of occupied Germany, Poland, Hungary, and Czechoslovakia to consolidate the new Eastern Bloc.[4] Partly as a result of this famine, unlike many countries in Europe and North America, the Soviet Union did not experience a post-war baby boom. Prompted by the drought and famine of 1946-47, the so-called "Great Plan for the Transformation of Nature" was put forth which consisted of a number of ambitious projects in land improvement. "
