The Incredible Story of Ken Block

Ken Block is an inspiration to all petrolheads, a guy that could do almost anything with a car - insane control, total bravery and unbelievable skill.
There were so many aspects to his professional life - shoe designer, world rally driver, X games competitor, designer of EPIC cars and RU-vid sensation.
For me personally - he wasn’t just a true racer, he was a pioneer of motorsport content creation and showed us all what was possible.
So we’re going to go over his life, show what made him so great as well as some of his INCREDIBLE cars.
You may know Ken Block from watching the WRC, the Dirt franchise of video games or the incredible Gymkhana videos - but Ken Block actually started out in life wanting to be a skateboarder - growing up in Long Beach, California.
But once his family moved to San Diego or the ‘middle of nowhere’ as he called it, he started to mess around with dirt bikes. This would start his obsession with extreme sports that would define his life.

Nah, he is not a good driver. He is just a rich boy who can dump money on cars. He is more a stun man than a driver. In the rally world, too many others like Sebastien Loeb, Colin McRae are far more talented and better than him.

Now, 10 days ago, I was here on YT, looking for something and I saw the news that he passed away, even if I didn't cry or be sad, I knew it was a great loss, I saw all my friends sad about him, almost everywhere I go on Internet was talking about him, paying condolences, and this will be a day I wont forgot, like when Senna died, nobody will forget when, where or what they were doing when the news came. Like everybody on the car community, I will miss him, he was a hero we didnt deserved, but a hero that we needed to teach us a lesson that everything is possible if you want, and most importantly, if you have fun doing it. Rest In Peace Ken, you may be gone, but your leggacy will live on for decades to come.

I'm 54 and started at Gymkhana 5, so I was late on the scene. Still had me buying a pair of DC shoes though. I loved this man and there were real tears when I heard the news I hope that Lia takes on his legacy, as she was well on the way, anyway. He will be sorely missed. RIP Ken

Had no clue he’d founded DC shoes, he continues to amaze. Thanks for putting together this great little history video.

Racing has been a huge staple in my life, and whenever people ask me how I got into racing I show them the same gymkhana video that changed my life over a decade ago. I will miss him forever

Rip Ken, it was like yesterday I watch Hoonicorn Vs The World. Feels surreal the one you watch growing up is no longer here. It's also sad knowing the fact he hasn't finished the Hoonipig and competing on the Pikes Peak
