You have to compare the costs for the same trip, not for the same period of time. One hour in the jet will get you maybe 400 nm away while 2 hours in the 22T will only gonna get you 250 nm away.

1/2 correct. A private airplane owner can fly his own airplane for profit. All he has to do is get a single pilot Air Carrier Certificate. He can then do charters. I did it!

The Part 135 will be irrelevant to most people. This airplane will be flown mostly Part 91. That is all the pilots I have met that fly the Honda Jet. True...there may be some that need to fly as Part 135. But, even if you are an employee of private company (as in a non-charter non-aviation company), you'll fly Part 91. To get around Part 135 "ownership", put the plane into an LLC or a Trust where that is the owner and not you. Now you can fly part 135 with "your plane".

My bf is a g650 error pilot, flying gulfstreams for decades. His owner has 2 650er . His bonus was 15k and is type rated to be captain and charter cert. Type ratings are insanely expensive. But he has never flown on an hourly basis, even the.cessnas and phenom. Once someone chartered g650 and the passenger sat on armrest of a seat and broke it. $250k at the charter guest expense putting the owner out of travel for a few weeks with that plane.

Sadly, I can't understand much of what he's saying. Most lav mics are omnidirectional and are best used when you're inside in a quiet area. If you want to be capturing audio outside, you need a noise-cancelling mic that's unidirectional, meaning it has a cardioid or super-cardioid pickup pattern. Mostly they're going to hand-held or head-mounted because they have sharp off-axis noise rejection -- like the mics pilots wear when they're flying. TIP: Sabinetek makes some small Bluetooth mics, the SmartMic+, that have built-in omni mics, but there's a unidirectional element you can plug into it and they work fairly well. Get a pair and you can plug one into your camera and put the other one on the person you're interviewing -- one works as a transmitter and the other as a receiver. Or use both to connect with their software and you can interview someone and capture one mic in the left channel and the other in the right channel of the audio or video. Another solution would be to get a handheld shotgun mic, like what news reporters use when they're doing outdoors on-the-spot reporting. They're highly directional and some are designed to plug right into cameras. You can also get a transmitter and receiver combo for some that will let you work wirelessly.

@@jerryuma Well, I'm sorry you found it rude. However, that does nothing to change the facts that: (a) I could not understand most of what was said; and (b) I'm not the only one to comment here about the poor audio quality. However, I seem to be the only (so far) who has made any suggestions about how to avoid this in the future. I love Mike's videos, and I suspect that just like his piloting, I'm sure he likes to learn about ways to make his videos better. The typical lavalier mic is omnidirectional, which means it picks up EVERYTHING in ALL DIRECTIONS. They are NOT good to use in noisy environments. There ARE ways to deal with that, and I offered some suggestions. That info might even help you at some point in the future, as opposed to just complaining about the audio quality.

Yep - any jet has a higher cost per trip than a piston or most turbo-props. That said, the Honda sure looks like a fun jet to fly. But, sitting in the back, it's not that much more comfy than a refurbed pressurized Cessna Centurion, ....at a fraction of the operating cost.

So much could be better. It's smeared in so much artificial difficulty. I inquired with pratt and whitney about the engine that the 1600kg Eclipse uses which is the smallest turbofan in production, half the size of the Williams on the Visionjet. They wanted 911k$ a piece for a series production, not a one off. It's a step up from a turbo in a car and they wanted a cool million for it. It's simpler than a piston engine. I knew the piston engine makers in GA were the problem but turns out the turbine guys are much worse. If someone actually did smaller turbofan engines at way more reasonable price and a plane would be made as a single piece carbon fiber fuselage instead of the complexity of riveted sheet then everyone could have twin jets. If you imagine a lancair or sr22 or bonanza sized sleek light plane with two jets that could retail profitably for 100k if done right and for series production. Let's say the volumes Cirrus sells. Close to 10x cheaper than a Cirrus SR22T and twice as fast with double the fuel economy. And no fear of engine replacement cost and it would last the life of the plane anyway.
@DanFrederiksen
@DanFrederiksen 7 месяцев назад
A small light simple to operate jet could also convince FAA to not have such draconian requirements for proficiency. We shouldn't tolerate creeping extreme costs without just cause. Say sub 1 ton weight could be exempt.

@DanFrederiksen
@DanFrederiksen 4 месяца назад
@@bendover-bz4bc why not both? :) when turbofan jet engines can be as fuel efficient as piston props then piston props should have disappeared in 1960. And a plane can really be quite simple meaning inexpensive to make.
@KRYTEN451
@KRYTEN451 Месяц назад
Easy. Just retrofit your doner aircraft with 2-4 JC P400-PRO engines, which cost a reasonable 12K each, and which produce a respectable 89Lbs of thrust per copy.
@DanFrederiksen
@DanFrederiksen Месяц назад
@@KRYTEN451 nothing reasonable about that price and they are turbojet engines, not turbofan. there is about a factor 2 difference in fuel consumption. on top of those being crude toy jets. but in principle, yes, it should be very easy. Engines suitable for besting a cirrus SR22 would be shockingly small.

You are wearing a lavalier microphone - but the sound was recorded by the camera’s built in mic. Why didn’t you do a quick test to see if your transmitter pack was switched on? And later, when you discovered it wasn’t, why not reshoot your rambling presentation? Instead you went ahead and edited - knowing the sound was unusable - and then posted it! If this is an example of your level of skill and professionalism - I can’t imagine anyone crazy enough to fly in an aircraft with you at the controls!

Yes you can, with the correct license. You have to be a commercial licensed pilot. That is not the same as the license rating Southwest, United, or Delta pilots have. They are transport licensed pilots. Commercial licensed pilots typically fly private jets for their employment. Some are owner operators.

What he’s saying isn’t quite correct. To operate charter aircraft, requires an air operator certificate. These are issued to BUSINESSES…not individuals. So? A pilot can own the plane AND own the business that has the AOC. And can then fly their own plane as a commercial charter as a pilot for his own business.
