No question the death toll in Gaza is tragic. But when you consider there are approx 300,000 dead muslims from the Syria conflict and the Saudi / Houthi conflict and zero protests for them, it's pretty clear from how well organised these protests are that it's part of Hamas strategy..

Remember that "hospital bombing" which turned out 1) to have been caused by Islamic jihad, 2) it wasn't the hospital but the car park, 3) they claimed 500 deaths and then it dwindled to 40... What a deceitful, cowardly and intellectually lazy man. He is well known to refuse to debate these issues with any scholar on the subject and instead prefers to sit pompously in a chiar and read a monologue that he does not have to defend if challenged. Absolutely cowardly. For anyone concerned here are response to his statements. 1. What is going on in Syria and Yemen and Pakistan are intra-muslim squabbles and crisises not unlike intra-European crisises that arise from time to time at varying degress of severity fro example: The Prauge War of the 1960s, The Northern Ireland Conflict, the FAulklands War, The Yugoslave War, and the Geogia-Russia war. None of these conflicts illicited wide spread public response in Europe becasue there were relatively small and new. For thsoe same reasons the conflicts that he listed that are occuring in some Muslims coutnries do not illicit widespread public outrage. However, how can he have the temerity to try and compare the almost 100 year long conflict in genocide and holocaust in palestine to a few relatively small skirmishes in Yemen and Pakistan!?! 2. Egypt and Syria and Jordan have already accepted Palestians refuges in the past but each time the Zionist apartheid state have refused to allow them to return and stole their land and gave it to European zionist colonizers. So they simply do not want history to repeat itself. 3. Muslims historically and till present day do not hate jews. I have already posted in this group links to lectures of jewish scholars detailing how Muslims and jews have lived in peace for centuries all over the Muslim world. In fact it has always been the christians who have hated and persecuted the jews historically, not the Muslims. So NONE of his points are valid. His arguements are superficial in its analysis. He is spewing absolute nonsense to an audience who are likely xenophobic and ignorant about history.

Pakistan has been saving these refugees since the 1980s. The taliban actually ensures the multi ethnic disputes that are rampant within the nation doesn’t go far. Afghanistan majority pushtoon population under communism and the previous government participated in ethnic genocide which would spill over to Pakistan. Besides the point is Afghanistan will not accept a foreign nation as its ruler. You make it sound like afghans would ever choose a foreigner to occupy their nations over their own .

How about instead of these marches calling for a ceasefire, they start asking for the unconditional surrender of Hamas? That would also result in a ceasefire. If Palestinians do not support Hamas as they say, it shouldn’t be difficult. I have a wide range of opinions politically, but it seems the left have been well and truly duped on this one.

Muslims in Palestine lived with Jews and Christians without any problem until your country brought the apartheid and terrorist state of Israel. Yemen and Syria are a different story. It's a civil war. They do not involve displacing nations into exile and stealing their land, kicking people out of their houses and bringing settlers to replace them, In Syria and Yemen there are no walls built around populations with security checks... I usually enjoy Douglas' takes. But to say, essentially. "If you have any disagreement with Israel's actions towards Palestinian civilians, that's antisemitism" is absurd. I don't want Palestinian people to be safe because they're Muslim. I want them to be safe because they're people. And the same goes for the Israeli's, I want all people to be free from harm. It's not as easy to say, "people weren't protesting the deaths of this or that Muslim group killed by other Muslims therefore you just dislike when Jews do it". Thank you Douglas Murray, I watch your interviews and I cry, I cry because there is a few people who is ready to stand up and say the truth. My family lived in Ukraine, my great grand parents saw pogroms, my father escaped Babi Yar when he was 2, luckily they left Kiev just before that, my husband's grandma was killed in Mogilev Ghetto, along with 3 younger kids, my father in law was 14 and worked, so he survived, then we lived with anti-Semitism in USSR, we were able to come to USA, and I am not naïve , but I was hopping that my kids would not experience what many generations in our family have. I feel like a Jew in Germany in the 30th, with an open question what is next for us?Where should we go?

I agree with Mr. Murray. There is a double standard, one that has been nurtured and developed over the years: Israel is a “western” country who shares in the West’s ideals and principles. Because of that we hold Israel to a higher standard. So yes, there is a double standard but not of the kind Mr. Murray depicts.
