Showcasing the tones of the Preamp House. This vid is in an amp this time. The cab sim is shut off. More vids are coming soon!

The guitar used is tele part caster with Fender single coils, a warmoth neck, and an Emerson Prewired Kit installed.

The amp is a Tyler Amps JT14, which sounds similar to a vintage Fender Princeton but with a little more low end and body!

I just purchased this unit, some of the amp models are very impressive. I like the 900 and ENGL the most. One thing that should be pointed out about this pedal that it will ONLY save ONE clean and ONE dirty preset form ONE particular amp model. It will NOT allow you to save a preset from each amp model. So if you save a 900 preset on B, then go to ENGL and save a preset on B, the 900 preset is overwritten by the ENGL one. One preset for each A and B buttons, no saved presets for every amp model.

I actually don't mind the clean channels in front of an amp, and the low-mid gain works a treat. The super high gain settings only work on amps like this one, where the amp's tone is already quite neutral. I've heard people try this into the front of more complex amps, and eeeeeewww lol. Really liked the crunch coming from the Orange here, nice one mate.

Thank you! This amp is very neutral with pedals. It’s really great for that. At least for me. It’s a perfect pedal amp

@@aaronjlivecchi I think anything similar to a Fender style clean amp, should get you pretty decent results from most pedals. Roland JC amps work pretty well for that also. Anything more modern, definitely use the fx loop.

I think I’ve watched all your videos about the Preamp House and you’ve answered pretty much every question I have about it: what the amp sims sound like direct through an interface, what they sound like through an amp, how each sim (clean and dirty channels) responds to pedals and how the unit compares with the Strymon Iridium. As well as being thorough and thinking of the questions other guitarists might ask, your style of jamming is very inventive, varied and interesting. Thank you! One general question I’m curious to know your view on. I notice you feature many budget clones of well-known and usually more expensive pedals. We’re all familiar with the argument that the clone companies use cheaper components sometimes and that the housings may not be as sturdy. I notice that your own pedalboard features Strymon heavily. Since you have so much experience of using different pedals can you tell us if there is any reason other than sound quality why you would choose a more expensive option over a cheaper one? Regardless of what you might say about this, I am enjoying your channel greatly.

Hey so first let me say thanks so much for the support and kind words! I’ve actually been thinking about making a vid about this topic. My opinions on budget vs. boutique. So for reverbs and wet effects; the answer is obvious that the quality, and flexibly can’t be matched. No cheap reverb will have the sound, flexibility, features, and sturdiness of a BigSky. For things like dirt pedals: You’ll notice I use PertyJohn stuff a lot. (One of my fav brands). The reason for this is not only sturdiness. But the quality of the drive. It’s tone. The retention of your pick attack. How usable the full sweep of the knobs are. How well they play with other drives. I’ll notice with budget gear; I can make most sound good. But I’m limited. It won’t be as good. And will take much more tweaking. That’s kind of a short answer if that makes sense.

@@aaronjlivecchi Hi Aaron, it’s very kind and helpful of you to reply. I’m very grateful indeed to have your views, especially as regards the differences between wet effects and dirt pedals when it comes to choice of brands. You state the issues very clearly and provide much to think about. I very much hope you do the video on Budget v Boutique. There is massive confusion about this across the internet and I’m sure many others would value your informed opinion. I don’t (for instance) recall other people mentioning your point about the sweep of the control knobs, though everyone experiences that. I suppose that, as regards wet effects there are intermediate options, such as a Hall of Fame v a BlueSky or BigSky. That might be a helpful footnote perhaps. Again, thank you for your reply. I will keep a keen and hopeful eye on your channel.

No this is a tube amp

so this can go direct into a interface or a mixing board or a FOH mixing board and or into a powered spear or Speaker Cabinet if the pedals cab is turned off or into a guitar amplifier if the cab sim is off and it is going into a clean guitar amp. is that right ??
@aaronjlivecchi
@aaronjlivecchi 2 года назад
I don’t believe you can use it as an amp head. But as a purely direct option or disabling the cab sim and using it as a pedal Into an amp. It’s best use is the first one.

Can you use cab sim while using a cab ? To change the sound of your stock speakers ?

I can't tell if it's because of RU-vid compression or because of my junk phone speaker but it all sound very similar to me. I should be hearing much more difference between a vox and engl. I'm assuming using it with a power amp or a computer setup the difference is much more noticeable. I am considering one of these to put in front of my engl rockmaster to get a more British tone but i am not sure it will get me where I want to go. I have spent so much money on gear I don't use and I'm afraid I'm about to do it again... Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Nice demo! Never heard of this pedal until trolling through your vids. I have to say the whole time you were demo'ing the dual rec and 5150 I was just waiting for a mid scoop tone. Sad.

Hey me again is your amp on the clean or dirty channel?
@aaronjlivecchi
@aaronjlivecchi 3 года назад
No dirty channel on it. Just a Vol knob. 2 on knob Eq. And some optional reverb and tremolo.

@@aaronjlivecchi Connect it directly to the return of the effects loop (or power in) of the amplifier, so you don't pass the pedal through the amplifier's preamp. This is one of the scenarios that I should use him most live.

The Joyo Official video says thats the way. Into the Return. I have this pedal and my amp doesn’t have effects loop :(
@jwrocks83
@jwrocks83 3 года назад
Use it in the effects loop since this is a pre amp pedal, that is what it is designed to do. Otherwise your amplifiers onboard EQ impacts what you hear (hence your reverb). The effects loop bypasses the pre-amp section of you loop giving the pedal a clean, unfiltered signal to process. 😎 still, GREAT review of the features and versatility of this pedal!
