Directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, The Jungle Book is a live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he’s no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern-mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley) and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire.

Fun fact: King Louie was not in the original book, he was a creation by Disney. They realized they couldn’t do this remake without him but that proved a problem, because orangutans don’t live in India. 🤔 So Louie is actually a Gigantopithecus - A giant orangutan that apparently roamed the earth way, way back in time. This thing could stare down some elephants. It allowed them to make him more of an urban legend that made it Mowgli feel even smaller. Plus they do pretty well at making it unclear what time period this is supposed to be in. As far as Kaa goes, she may be a reference to an anaconda or the Titanoboa - another GIANT of ancient times that was a terrifying size.

What I like about this reimagining of The Jungle Book is that there are elements from Rudyard Kipling’s novels that are woven into the 1967 movie plot. Some of them include the law of the jungle and Raksha standing up to Shere Khan, to name a few, This approach made the film fresh and interesting, which was very cool. I for one really enjoyed this adaptation to Walt Disney’s original film, one of the best I’ve seen.

I’m mixed on the live action remakes, but I think this one and Aladdin are the best ones so far; they seem to have the best idea of what to bring over from the original animated movie and where they could get away with making changes. Plus this one has the added benefit of including a lot of stuff from the book, which is really cool because the original movie ignores the book pretty much entirely.

Another recently Disney live-action remake i think it was pretty fun is the Aladdin live-action. It isn't "better" than the animation, but it does have many good adds. Also, about this version of Jungle Book... Gigantopithecus is an extinct species of primate (the biggest that ever existed, if i'm not mistaken). Scarlett Johansson sings "trust in me" on the credits. From what i know, the actual book is a series of stories, not one big story.

You should watch Anastasia (1997). It is very loosely based off a real person and rumors surrounding her, but still it is so good for a movie. It should be on Disney Plus, but it wasn't made by Disney. Disney just owns the right now. I don't want to say anymore for spoiler reasons. Maleficent is a must watch. Angelina Jolie kills it in that movie. If you haven't watched the animated Sleeping Beauty yet, then you should watch it first.

Love this reaction! It's chill and yet honest. I agree with KylatheKing on some of them. You've got to see The Great Mouse Detective and Meet the Robinsons. But in case she didn't put it on the list, you also want to see " Oliver &/and Company " with regard Disney films of that vein. The Lion King 2/II: Simba's Pride is a must. It's even better than the first one. Also, she mentioned the original Lady and the Tramp - which I agree on to, but the sequel to that - Lady and the Tramp 2/II: Scamp's Adventure - is also a gem; in fact number 2's one of my favourite Disney films. Other Disney sequels better than the previous ones (but of course feel free to watch the first ones first): One Hundred and One Dalmatians / 101 Dalmatians 2/II: Patch's London Adventure (but both 1 and 2 have the side characters written incredibly, even phenomenally, well. So I commend them on that). Cinderella III: A Twist in Time (1's better than 2: Dreams Come True, although both are good - watch the lot, in order) The Fox and the Hound 2 Aladdin (3) and the King of Thieves (2: The Return of Jafar is not as good as 1, but still good) Beauty and the Beast (2): The Enchanted Christmas (there is a 3, which I personally like, but that one's an acquired taste - Belle's Magical World) Peter Pan 2: " Peter Pan Return to Neverland " If you like acquired taste stuff: The Black Cauldron The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad Other Disney sequels so good you should watch them at least once: The Little Mermaid 2/II: Return to the Sea and (3:) Ariel's Beginning The Hunchback of Notre Dame II The Jungle Book 2 I've seen all of the first 10 " The Swan Princess " movies (11's being made), she was obviously referring to the first one. I will tell you the first one 'is' good. Some of the sequels are better, and some of them are worse. But all of the 10 films they've done so far 'are' watchable. I have a live-action list including some Walt Disney Pictures stuff, but I'll only give it to you if you want it. This comment is long enough as it is already, and I don't want to info dump you.

I really liked this movie! I grew up with the animated movie, but I feel like this movie had certain aspects that I love 10x more than the animated version. 1. The goodbye. The wolves did not want Mowgli to go. Akeela even called Mowgli his son! But knew it would be safer for him to live with his own kind. Bageera just took him in the dead of night. No goodbye! Here, we get that! We see Raksha put up a fight to keep Mowgli, her son! And when he says he understands and would go, she gives him not just a goodbye, but just a heartwarming speech about him always being hers and no one else's. I cried when I saw that the first time! I even cried when I watched the sneak peek of that scene. 2. Mowgli stays!!! My biggest pet peeve of the old movie, no matter how much I loved it growing up, was Mowgli leaving! I wanted him to stay in the jungle so much and would be mad every time he went to the man village! But here, he stays! He gets to stay in his home with his family and that made me so happy! I have another that includes his interaction with his wolf family (which I love) and his backstory of how he was found, but I feel like this post is long enough haha

To me I would say this is better then the original animated movie . Which is kinda rare for a sequel or remake to actually be better then the original . Same story , but most of the characters imo was done much better . King Louie , more intimidating in this one . The wolf pack , u actually see their bond with mowgli and them actually try to protect someone they considered one of their own for 10 years. Bagheera and blue I would put abt the same level as the originals , and I would put this mowgli barely over the original . The elephants, I wouldn’t say they did it better just much differently . The original they actually got screen time , and they showed the bond between mowgli and the youngest elephant a lot better . This one , they wasn’t in it much but each scene their the writers made sure they was held to much higher importance. Like they made it seem like the elephants were the gods of the jungle. I’m still waiting on a sequel too for this , I think it got confirmed a while back and they was gunna make this with the same director (Jon Favreau ) after he made lion king too . But Ik he’s busy with a role in marvel and what he’s doing with Star Wars

I prefer this one to the original animated one. This one is truer to the books. I love the Mowgli stories from the Jungle Book. There are two Jungle Books by Rudyard Kipling. And each on has around 6-8 stories about Mowgli in them. The first book has 15 stories, and 8 of them are about Mowgli and his animal friends. In the books Mowgli does go to the man village, but he dose not fit in, and is eventually run out of the village because they think him a demon child because he can understand animals. So he returns to the Jungle, and forms is own pack. The Wolves are a community of several families/packs, and Akela is a lone wolf, but leads all the packs. And he accepts Raksha and her mate taking in the man cub when they bring him to the pack council after Bagheera steps in and agrees to teach the boy. In the book Akela is not killed by Shere Khan, but is undermined and made to look unfit as a leader by him. He is banished from the packs after failing to make a kill. And he takes up with Mowgli along with Grey before Mowgli returns to the Jungle. In the books Mowgli's relationship with Bagheera is more that of a brother. Bagheera actually calls Mowgli little brother. As the are kindreds in a way. Both outsiders in the jungle they call home. Bagheera was born in captivity, and escaped. But he is forever tied to the fact that he is not fully a wild animal of the jungle. Like Mowgil his has no people in the jungle. There is just him, no other panthers. Shere Khan is a vicious creature, and is not noble at all. He is just a monster. He just likes to kill, particularly humans, and there animals. Raksha refers to him as the Lame Butcher in the book. Also Shere Khan is not his real name. He named himself that to make himself seem more impressive. His real name is Lungri which means "The Lame One". He is not actually a good hunter. He is lame in one of his feet. So survives on easy prey.

Besides Aladdin, The Jungle Book has happened to be Disney’s best remake ever. It actually manages to hold well on its own to the animated classic. The film has such a perfect cast including Bill Murray as Baloo and Idris Elba manages to make Shere Khan its most terrifying Disney villain since Scar from The Lion King and Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Even Neel Sethi was such the perfect young actor to play Mowgli with his talented performance. I would say that as well as the songs that was still fun and good in this film, it still can’t top the original’s talents of Phil Harris. But the film makes up for it by its incredible visual effects and the action sequences in this film was epic. It felt more like Disney’s live-action recreate of The Lion King that we love from the animated film, including the one sequences with Bagherra chasing Shere Khan that feels like Africa. Hopeful Disney will take notes from this film to make future remakes better including Lilo & Stitch and Hercules.

If you’re wondering what a Gigantopithecus is it was a the largest species of great ape ever to exist existing in what is now China and India a few million years and became extinct a few hundred thousand years ago. Despite the fact that it was mostly a harmless vegetarian unless provoked, it was a gigantic beast standing over 3.5 metres tall and weighing over 600 kilos! It was the original King Kong

You should react to the movie "mowgli" it's also really good. It goes a little more in depth with mowgli meeting the humans and a poacher. It was also really good in my opinion, and sherkhan looked just as menacing in that.

This is the best of the Disney Live actions in my opinion. And there should have been a sequel as there are more stories by Kiplings about Mowgli then just what is seen in this movie.

Watch the Chuck Jones adaptation. It’s much more faithful to Kipling’s original story and features the voices of Roddy McDowell and June Foray (aka the woman of 1000 voices). He also adapted The White Seal and Rikki Tikki Tavi (the latter narrated by Orson Welles).

I really loved this movie thought it was very well done. #YouShouldWatch Any live action Disney, The Legend of Tarzan 2016, The Black Cauldron, The Last Unicorn, and I'm totally into you watching movies outside the disney/family genre. It's been great to watch them, and I hope you keep them coming but yeah to throw something else in every once in a while would be cool. #IdeasForThat If I Stay, Before I Fall, Princess Bride, The Village, Bicentennial Man, Passengers 2016, The Dog Purpose Movies : Sequel A Dogs Journey & last is A Dogs Way Home, Moulin Rouge, Poseidon 2006... its a lot sorry but just throwing 'em out there...

This was better than the animated version, and i like how it added some more elements from the book. The 2018 Netflix film “Mowgli” has a better story more like the book. All are enjoyable though.

Yes! Another part of this I really like is Christopher Walken of all people singing "I wanna be like you" Please hit up the Don Bluth stuff! And you still haven't hit a lot of the lesser known Disney classic animations. Hit up Winnie the Pooh, the Rescuers. And I'm sure you've seen LOTR, but have you see the animated version of the Hobbit?

I love how well done the animals are, the mouths move so smoothly when they talk. And can we talk about the movements of the animals? Bagheera and Shere-Khan’s movements i could not differentiate from a document on cats and the eyes, ears, and even their fighting skills. 8:21 I would love to see the wolves take down Shere-Khan and they do show them attacking him, but evolution favored felines. Felines are the top mammal predator (Carnivora, as humans are top, top). Canines epic designs and wolves are keystone species in the ecosystem, its just felines are the lands version of a shark or tuna. There is another jungle book that came out around this time about 2018. Mowgli. The CGI is heartbreaking, the story however is more closer to the book which is gritty and little happiness. Which realistically is reasonable, the jungle/wild adding in humans its going to get bloody.

King Louie was an original character not from the books, and notably the only one that whose species (Orangutan, native to Southeast Asia) be found in an Indian jungle. They changed him to a Gigantopithecus, an extinct species of primate that did live in India to be a bit more realistic (though that opens another can of warms implying this story would take place 100,000 years ago) Another fun fact, scientific cryptic fans believe Sasquatch and Yeti to be related to Gigantopithecus

@@JVsGalacticAdventures Thank you. For hearing my request. I like your channel a lot so far. As for the live action Tarzan, I wasn't a huge fan. I personally liked the cartoon version better. But that's just my opinion. Well considering there's 3 remake of Tarzan so it depends on witch one you choose to try.

29:10 When you realize the animals aren’t oversized, at least not too much compared to their species.
