Also when Kvothe jumped off the roof, it didn't show he had a lust for power and would abuse it. It showed he's reckless and too sure of himself and would hurt himself because naming is dangerous.

I agree with this, but I would also add one more thing. The leap also showed Kvothe's reliance on Elodin to save him. Circling back to your point, naming is dangerous and Elodin can't be a safety net for Kvothe's wreckless abandon.

@@Merrick completely outtopic but, was watching something bill bailey was doing not long ago. Cant rememeber what, think it was a talk show or something. But he said something like, of all the stuff hes done the thing he loves getting recognized most for is that scene from the wine episode on black books. He goes to another country and grown men who cant speak more than a couple words in english will run up to him, cup their breasts and go "bernard, bernard, bernard." And i just wanted to share that with you. Because holy shit did that make me smile

I think that when Elodin cracked, he literally cracked in two... And that his giller is actually his other half. Maybe he changed his name. Alder Whin is too phoenetically close to Elodin to be a coincidence. They're close in age and description. And Elodin seems more concerned about Whin being locked up than just a student. Tinfoil

I also enjoy finding all of the parallels in the books. Even Elodin choking on the seed. Kvothe also choked the first time he chased the name of the wind.

what I love about Elodin the most is that like you said he distances himself from social norms but actually still knows ademic hand-talk -"Stunned, I realized it was hand-talk Adem for *amazed respect*" -and if you ask me he probably also know their social norms then!

I like how Elodin take care of the people in the Asylum, he treats them with a lot of love and respect I think that once he cracked he can understand how to deal with people in situations like that And also... I think Patrick would love that people treat him with the same way Elodin treats people who need help... It seems he wrote the character hoping people would have a heart as good as Elodin's

They're really very good..it's my favourite series..although I might say that it's not for everybody though...the first quarter of the first book is a slow burn....you'll struggle at that part..but when the slow parts are done then it starts getting better..

The books are amazing, you will enjoy them even on a 6th reading. They are like the embrace of a lover, but beware, you'll be left heartbroken when that lover breaks up that beautiful relationship and that's left is memories and silence.

Love these videos, however i find myself disagreeing a little with this one. There is a theory that Elodin cracked after obsessing over the four plate door. He says to Kvothe that "it almost killed him" Secondly i think Elodin decided to start teaching Kvotge naming after Kvothe named Auri infront of him, and as we know Auri is princess Auriel, showing that Kvothe has some talent for naming. Elodin asks him, "why Auri?" just before agreeing to teach him. Lastly i think the milk thistle seed lesson was a metaphor showing that if you chase after and grasp at naming, you will get no where, where as if you patiently observe, a name will come to you in time. The fact that Elodin hurts himself while chasing a name is forshadowing, or showing the most likely outcome. Elodin is by far one of the most interesting characters, i do not think he is related to Bast or any Faye as they are hundreds of years old but some old family blood with a hint of Faye like Kvothe seems likely. I wondered if he might be Kvothes sword masters "poet king"

Elodin is a namer. He's concerned with order and the shape of the world. He'd like to undo some of the damage early namers did and prevent future namers from doing more. He can work with the Amyr but isn't one of them as his interactions with Lorren indicate. But he hates being bound by the rules lesser talents want to impose. And most people are less talented than he is.

theory about Kvothe - the author likes to reinvent troupes. Kvothe is a 'chosen one' in reverse kinda. as Lackless, Edema, and Adem, Kvothe represents the 'one family' that split long ago. I think that gives him a destiny of sorts. he is royal, vagabond, mercenary; he is fae, human, and archanist. but its unknown to him. Skarpi knew his name. Skarpi may be a namer, but why care about Kvothe?

I was hearing the audio book to the kingkiller chronicles and cant lie the 1st book was ok but I got the second book and I could only listen half way i dropped the series, you cant tell me Kvothe is this super talented smart dude with street smarts and does non stop dumb shit, but I let them slide mostly untill I just couuldnt bother with it anymore, but I will admit I am curious about how it ends, not enough to listen to 30+ hours of audio book but enough to watch videos on RU-vid about it. LOL

Its just such a shame that Rothfuss is doing all these weird fundraisers and pledge streams, monetizing his fans who just want to know how the story ends. Its a shame because the story is just so good...
