Balance is always needed. It’s a struggle sometimes especially for service techs when it gets hot like it is! I did that long enough to realize it wasn’t worth it ✌🏼 cheers brother

I needed to hear this today. My struggle is with burning myself out at work to the point where I don’t have the time or energy for God or my family.

Great video, going through this now as I try to lean HVACR. My wife and I have a deal We try once in a while to get away just us. She hates the hours but has gotten used to them.

I told my future wife before we got married that work came first. That I work long hours and that hvac was not a 9 to 5 job. I could not be home at a certain time every day. If she could not deal with that then there was no use getting married. She agreed and saw the first summer what I meant by long hours. We never planned to do anything on my work days because those plans always got sidelined by work. So no disappointment if we did not plan things. We planned our day around work, not our plans around work .It worked for us.

I’ve already raised my kids so being available for the grandkids is important for me. I’m on a job now where I don’t want to make the wrong diagnosis and I don’t want the customer to lose faith in me. I’ll get through it. You find good topics for your videos. This was a good one. Thanks and take care.

Let me guess ... the lesson is screw the customer once, and you get a lot of money, screw him again twice a year for maintenance fees, and you will train him that it's okay to be screwed?

No children, no wives for many years now, and a good cooling system. Failures are greatly reduced here.

We had a woman call everyday and yell out the owner that her tech husband was not home by 5 everyday. He wasnt employed very long. But he was home everyday after that. And I mean all day long.

I worked my balls off before I had kids, volunteered on call every thanksgiving and Christmas (average 25° temps) for the first 7yrs. I never felt bad about not working them again when I had kids. I have few friends which is a result of focusing on work and the family. I make virtually every kids sporting event or school function but otherwise I spend more time emotionally and physically attached to work that I probably should but I support the family and bank into a 401k. When I hit 62.5 (health permitting) and retire from hvac I will reap my additional rewards

You are talking about those mistakes, or sometimes just those facts of life that you keep chewing back as the cud regurgitated from ruminants. It is impossible to live without regrets. As a matter of fact, it might not even be sane to avoid them. However, one has to realize that the past is past, and we only move forward by learning from those mistakes or by accepting those curve balls that life throws at us and acting upon that learning. We only have the here and now.

You should dig up that YJ combustion analyzer and throw it in. And then pick me. No pressure (pun intended)

Or you can lie about your failure and turn it into a sales lead. Thats what most corporations want us to do.

Dont marry a spouse that expects you home by five everyday, or your marriage wont last in the hvac field. Women need to understand that. If they dont. Dont get married to one of those.
