ONE SMALL CORRECTION: the tribute they killed at 4:28 was a girl not a boy. It's barley a mistake but i see people making a big deal about it so you can pin this comment if you want. Your videos are beyond amazing Morgan! I've been a long time supporter and am a patreon doner! Keep up the amazing work, you are by far the best channel that covers The Hunger Games!
I REALLY wish they had included Cato’s show of affection during clove’s death. It highlighted the fact that as ruthless as they are, they’re still human at the end of the day
I think one of The reasons why they didnt includ IT is because Isabelle Fuhrman (clove) was Only 15 and Alexander Ludwig (Cato)was around 20 when they shot The movie. I would Also love to SEE catos reaction.
Annika Rakeie she was only 15??? Wow imagine being this beautiful at 15 (can’t relate) 😂 I thought she just had a baby face. Thinking about it, The Hunger Games actually casted kids/teens/people in their 20s. Correct me if I’m wrong but there was no age inappropriate casting? Like a 30 something actor playing a teen? (I didn’t read the books, so idk how old everyone is supposed to be).
Even though he wasn’t a career, I’d love to know more about thresh. I liked him a lot in both the book and the movie, even though there wasn’t much said about him
Okay, but can we talk about how much more horrifying the mutts were in the books? They weren't just random dogs, they were anthropomorphic dog creatures that looked like all of the dead tributes and showed great intelligence.
@@WanderTheNomad in the book they also had collars with the district numbers they were from, as well as the eye colors of the fallen tributes as you mentioned.
It would be cool if there was a book that took place during the 74th Games but from different characters/ tributes perspectives. So like Peeta, Cato, clove, rue, prim etc. each chapter would be someone else’s perspective
Tiny Grass it could be done in the way that Malorie Blackman writes the Noughts and Crosses novels. That would mean that we’d get outside information, it would be interesting to see the Capitol’s citizen’s outlooks.
Without Clove, Katniss wouldn’t have gotten the knife, which then she wouldn’t have dropped the tracker jacket nest, which then she wouldn’t have gotten a bow which she killed Cato with and got food with. So basically, without Clove, Katniss wouldn’t have won.
Facts: thresh spared Katniss’s life at the feast. He did it because of rue, but in the arena the other tributes don’t know what happens to the others, other than if they die. So Thresh wouldn’t have known what Katniss had done with Rue. So Thresh should have killed katniss and then no more movies. So, yeah
8:25 this is so sad. Just imagine their mother after the relief of both of them surviving the hunger games. And now imagine how it is for her to loose both her children in one moment. They were siblings and loved each other yet they knew that in the end one of them had to kill the other. I am 90% sure that one of them would have committed suicide just so the other one could live. 😭 I think their death was just genuinely sad and so was Catos and Cloves.
I always wondered would have happened if it came down to the two of them because if either one committed suicide the capitol would have tortured and kill their family
JTdeluxe I think not directly except if they would refuse to kill each other or themselves. Then I think the capitol would see it as an act of rebellion.
I saw another comment talk about the scene with Cato and clove as clove died. I was so mad when they didn’t include that scene in the movie. The scene was pretty monumental for me in the book. It made my views twist from hating the careers to realizing that they were just kids forced to grow up in a world where their minds were corrupted and ultimately led to their deaths. The scene brought out the emotion in Cato and clove. Clove was crying and so was Cato. They seemed to have chemistry beyond that of a friendship. Cato knew he could do nothing but hold her as she died and that really made me sad. Her death scene in the book was the saddest (besides rue of course). They really were just kids. If Cato was truly heartless or a monster, he would have walked away from her and let her die all alone, but he didn’t. He cried with her, over the loss of a young life.
And at the end when Cato is standing on the cornucopia he told them he didn't have anyone/anything left to live for. He loved clove. He really did. He wasn't a heartless monster. He was raised that way. And it also pissed me off they didn't include that in the movies.
We're not given any details of how Peeta managed to do that, but both Chaff and Peeta were good fighters, and it's possible that Brutus was tired and/or wounded by the time he killed Chaff. Peeta is underrated as a fighter, anyway, so I can believe it.
@@RosidinAli In the movie, at least, Brutus definitely had more brute (no pun intended) strength and wasn't enough older for age to be a disadvantage. However, the fighter with the most brute strength doesn't always win since other factors also play a part.
Ok, people saying that Peeta is an underrated fighter, that I understand. But Peeta's like 5'7 and Brutus looks well over 6'. Like what did he do? Jump on his back and punch is head? Just funny to picture this.
But there were lots of tributes from Districts 1, 2 and 4 which means all careers were greedy bastards who were ready to kill in order to get rich. They weren't forced by anybody to be the best so they can get picked by their mentors. They CHOSE to do it and I have absolutely no sympathy for them. Sure, some of them changed at some point but only because the capitol killed or threatened to kill their friends and family
f0xy I think it’s better that they volunteer not worse. I would much rather someone volunteer who is willing and trained than some random 13 year old girl.
Shuriken Iron, They still do the Reaping in the career districts just if someone volunteers then the volunteer goes in to the games, not every year has a volunteer
I really like how Katniss describes Cato as “the monstrous boy from district 2” (or something like that it’s been a while since I read the books) and him fighting off the mutts by himself with his body armor and sword should have been included in the movie to highlight just how dangerous he is.
His body armor that I think they should have left in the movie was a big reason he survived that I believe. Him killing Thresh who was said to be the largest male tribute was what made me really scared for them.
@@bloodreaper8822 I get that children are impressionable and naive but they're literally being taught to kill and only volunteer by the time they're basically adults, fully aware of the fact that they're killing innocent children for fame and money
@@f0xyLuv yeah man that's so dumb . Bcoz only one of them can survive in the games. I woulndt do that shit to me even if I was physically and experience wise the best out of every carries. There is so much that can go wrong and lead to your death.
Finnick was the most deadly. Athletic, smart, fearsome with a trident. For careers, Cato and Glimmer were disappointingly bad esp. with a bow. Katniss was a great archer and wise in the woods, but as we saw vs Clove, not really a close-quarters fighter.
iiPinkShake sure but aside from Thresh, those tributes were kinda puny. At least from what I saw. I mean also, when they found Katniss in the tree they kinda failed at close range with the bow, then went to sleep!?? Like, it didn’t occur to them that she might come down during the night and slit their throats? Yup she was hurt, but obviously not badly enough to keep her from running/climbing. But also hey, plot armor.
I could see an AU series about how they both won the 74th HG and married, thinking they'd had it made, only to learn through their love that everything they'd been indoctrinated about throughout their lives was nothing but horrific lies and perversion, especially with regards to the Capitol's tastes. Catching Fire could start with them, not Katniss and Peeta, and from another angle.
District 2 is known as masonry and defense, and most of the district's children learn about their trade, or district speciality, at an early age, which gives them a bigger advantage over the district 12 tributes, who go into the mines at age 18. Therefore, district 2 would be stronger, due to masonry training, and since the peacemakers come from district 2, they would have peacemaker training. Combine those skills with training from the combat academy, and they would be stronger than the other districts, including district 1, because they would only have the training from the combat academy, and not from their district trade, which is luxury.
In the movies we only saw what happend of the 74th & 75th hunger games where district 2 was better than 1 in the games , we don't know what happend in the others you just can assume by what we saw in the games that 2 was the strongest career side over the years
Cassidy Jackson personally i think it wouldn’t of been appropriate as the actress of clove was only 15 when the movie was filmed and cato’s actor was 19, which i think is illegal in their country
@@russianprincess1816 i feel like the movie makers made a couple relationship to "add some spice" to the scenes (saw this in an interview somewhere) but alexander ludwig and isabelle fuhrman (actors of cato and clove) were too far apart in age for it to be appropriate, so they just replaced clove with glimmer instead
When I read Katniss's description of Brutus in Catching Fire ("he must be at least 40 and apparently can't wait to get back into the arena") it made me think that he was the Hunger Games version of people that age who still wear their high school letterman jackets.
Enobaria is way too lucky she : . Was lucky enough to be from a rich district and wasn't poor . She survived her own games . Survived the 75th Games and was the only career that did . Despite being captured by the Capitol she got to go home instead of being tortured because she was " from District 2" . Survived the rebellion . Had a generally easy life Like someone give this girl a medal.
I’m sorry but I think she might have suffered a great deal at the hands of the Capital she literally said give the capital a taste of there own medicine She could’ve lost a love one to them I don’t think she was that lucky .
@@gracefutrell1912 I thought that too, except, when we saw Cato's monolouge he eventually realizes that these games weren't the fun he thought they would be
@@heather5912 It was a point in the book that Glimmer was a terrible shot with a bow. Katniss taunted her as well as the others when she climbed the tree.
I don't remember if it was on the book but at the end of the movie Cato has a mental breakdown that killing wasn't as easy as they made it seem. He learned at the end of the game he never really wanted that. He was scared and sad and hysterical (probably colder and hungrier than he had ever been in his life as well) And we know from Finnick that he would have been rented out as a slave to the richer people in the capitol. So winning wasn't what he truly wanted
What was creepy was the beasts who chased them all to the cornucopia were morphed to look and have traits that looked like the fallen tributes. The one who looked like Rue attacked Katniss and it really messed with Katniss head. I believe she sobbed that she was sorry over and over while trying to get away from the beast, apologizing for her death and becoming a mutt.
There’s so many comments shipping Clove and Cato and I do too not gonna lie, I’m scared they’re going to turn out to be cousins or something and that’s why they’re close 😅
@@es2640 my dear he is 18. put it this way. in our society, if he were to even engage her physically that is a crime. not only is clove a minor but also below the age of consent. i am 19 years old, i would NEVER even consider being with anyone under 18.... the fact you don't find a problem with people wanting a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old to be in a romantic relationship is more of a testament to your own morality than mine. there is a MASSIVE difference physically and mentally between 15 and 18 years old. i would know, i've been there. a person in the middle of their teenage years who is underdeveloped and a person who is by law an adult and approaching actual adulthood should NOT be in a romantic relationship. if an 18 year old slept with a 15 year old that is considered statutory rape.
@@smarty2985 But on the book he's 16- And Clove was 15, so it's only a year. On the movie Alexander (Cato) was 18 and Isabelle (Clove) was 15, and she looked little, so it would be so WEIRD to put them on a relationship.
Can you do a vid on Enobaria?? She was never talked about but she survived the quarter quell andrandomly shows up at the end of mocking jay when they're voting who's going to kill Snow
She was alive thanks to katniss , and I think she was the luckiest victor ever , she wasn't tortured by the capital since she is from 2 And Katniss mentioned her among with Annie Johanna and peeta to be rescued that's why she wasn't killed nor by the rebellion nor by snow
Farah B fr tho. If i was ever a character in the Hunger Games i’d want to be Enobaria. She might’ve been not part of the rebellion at first as shown in Catching Fire, but at least she wasn’t tortured by the Capitol or even punished by the rebels
Us too! You should check out our “Hunger Games” spin-off. Basically it’s where Glimmer, Clove, Foxface, and Katniss make it to the “final four” of the 74th games, hence our name. We would love for you to see it and comment on our video how you liked it! We’re also coming out with a new, original written dystopian film in a couple of months on this channel.
Just the way Thresh grabbed Clove away from Katniss really just a heroic act and can we just respect how Thresh always sticks to his morals an amazing character 👏 😀
@@lisalou5737 lol thats not the reason, dont you wonder why 1 2 and 4 are rich? Its because before the games all districts rebelled againts the capital except 1 2 and 4 thats why they are so loved especially 1 and 2
Suzanne Collins should write a book where each chapter is a brief back story of the main characters, such as the careers, foxface, rue and thresh, finnick, Johanna and everyone else.
I would love a book with each chapter being about the hunger games of people like Haymitch, Joanna, Enobaria, Annie, Finnick etc. Or even better, one book for each!
I would prefer if they make a series and each episode is like the hunger games of every Victor, specifically those who are relevant or somewhat relevant in the main books or movies.
*I wish they'd make a 'Careers' spinoff series or movie with mentions of previous tributes we know.* Always thought it would be interesting to see the Games from a rich district POV... obviously they're kind of raised into being killers and they have entirely different coping mechanisms and mentalities which would be so nice to explore. Katniss' story kind of portrayed them all in a two-dimensional way as "arrogant, spoiled brats" - she was the focus so it's understandable but it's not a wholesome picture. They should've definitely done more with Glimmer, Marvel, Cato, Clove in the first movie especially... along with so many of the other tributes.
Clove is the one trying to prove her parents wrong about her abilities, Glimmer is the one proving her worth as a beautiful badass with the women of D1 being sexualized, Marvel is Cato’s sidekick, Cato’s the bully 🤪
8:35 I once watched a video about all the Arenas from the 1st to the 75th hunger games. Her year the arena was an Asylum with syringes with poison as the only weapon. Just imagine that horror. Gloss’ one was a flower garden, which was later elected as the most beautiful arena. His sister’s was an abandoned subway station. I think Katniss was lucky with both of her arenas. I mean they were both deadly but at least it was something you could survive in. In an abandoned subway station there is no water, no Wood, nowhere to hide and an Asylum is even worse
I wish there was a hunger games book for every single hunger games eventually. Knowing the WHOLE universe would be very informative on how the whole universe came to be
I really love this channel because I remember when you started. I loved your channel simply as it was. Years later you are famous, yet not flooded by ads and the simple video format is kept. Keep up the good work :)
6:26 I actually think this and catos death are the saddest parts in this movie. He knew the people in the capitol didn’t care about him. He knew he was dead the moment he saw Clove.
Me: Hey Mom! Guess who got a part in The Hunger Games? Mom: Congradulations! What is your part? Me: I get stabbed with a dagger within 15 seconds of the bloodbath!
Why didn’t the careers from the 74th game just burn the tree which katniss climbed up, surly they would have been able to as they are seen with a campfire
My theory is that in the books Peeta killed the boy from district 4. In the books, he is described as having injuries from the cornucopia bloodbath. Also, the career pack didn't have a skilled archer, and Peeta would die for Katniss. My idea is that the boy from district 4 in the books was a skilled archer and would have been the deadliest if he got the bow, and would have denied Katniss her best weapon. So Peeta went right up and killed the district 4 boy before he could aquire the bow in the middle of the cornucopia. He somehow avoided being caught by the other careers in this. On my channel I am doing a series on how I think known Hunger Games tributes would do in the Japanese Battle Royale.
@@eilishcorkery2364 That was in the movie. In the books Peeta is described as having a wound on his arm from the bloodbath, and district 4 is a career district in the book unlike in the movie. So at least in the book it's plausible the district 4 boy was a trained acher, and Peeta killed him to improve Katniss's odds.
I always found the relationship between Gloss and Cashmere interesting, the way Cashmere reacted after Katniss shot her brother and the way Gloss dreaded Cashmere being killed when he refused prostitution. I don’t think they would have *wanted* to kill each other and their relationship was fascinating because they were siblings.
In this video I loved how you told us how they put it in the movies and the books at the same time I thought it was a nice touch and really showed me how hard you work on all of your videos
out of nowhere im regaining a deep interest in the hunger games, i dusted off all my old books and im re-watching the movies all things i have not cared about since 2012 are fascinating to me again, but in a different way. I care less about the love story than i did when I was a child and now im really paying attention to this world that was created, the politics of it all. Its really captivating. Now im excited for this prequel
Cashemere and Gloss were by far my most favorite Career Tributes, it's just sad their character was way easy to get killed off in Catching fire.. I would love to see more of their fight scenes..
It was too show how lethal and dangerous Katniss and Johanna were. The siblings were very dangerous, and presumably dominated their games, but Katniss, Finnick, and Johanna were in a different league. Add Peeta in there, who killed Brutus, and that group just destroyed the competition.
Why does everybody else’s picture look good and they’re actually wearing their suit, but then freaking chaff out here wearing a black tank top with a photo that looks like it was taken in 2004
Honestly I wanted someone’s perspective on living in district 13 all those years. Cause they told Katniss multiple times they weren’t always in the great place they were and there was a lot of death
kinda funny how district 4, being rich and a good place to live in the hunger games universe, is based in a generally bad and poor place to live irl. louisiana literally being the 50th ranked state (i can say this bcs i'm allowed to hate on my own state lol)
DTA-Double Time Animations We don’t have any information of the 1st ever hunger games... yet. It never said it was the shortest hunger games, but there is a possibility.
Your videos are gold. I just finished the last book and throughout the three I got confused often but ur videos cleared everything out perfectly. Especially the one about all 13 districts. Thank you so much keep up the good work
I gotta say morgan this was an amazing explanation of the careers from hunger games i hope we get more information of them in the next book for next year
Not to sound rude but how didn't you not catch that when viewing the movie or reading the book for the first time? It was very heavily implied on film and in the book.
It really shows that you love this series very much. I love Harry Potter way more than the Hunger Games, in general, but I think your Hunger Games videos are much better (even if I love all your videos!) than the Harry Potter ones. There's something about the way you talk about the Hunger Games that just makes it feels SO exciting, and every time you upload a new video I just immediatly want to go an reread them!
They really messed up the first movie with the death of the district 4 male because Cato is actually the one to kill him. It makes it even more interesting that Suzanne Collins herself was directing the movie and let this happen.
I don’t know how it messes it up though, that’s a choice and the careers want strong people in their group. A young boy probably wouldn’t do much for them
The idea that Snow chose the 3rd quarter quell games to be reaped from existing victors rather than its true intent is interesting. In the book, it was chosen from old yellow envelopes to reveal each quarter quell twist.
I wish they included Enobaria in some of Mockingjay rebelling against the capital- it would’ve showed that, they may’ve been enemies in the games, but ultimately, they shared a common enemy of Snow
Is it bad that I still loved Cato and Marvel?....probably but I still loved them. I hate that they were so mean and killed so many people but they were such interesting people! They were actually quite nicely thought out characters and I kind of fell in love with how amazingly thought out they were!
The CGI for the mutts in the first movie really did bother me, they could have attempted to make them look more like the people they were supposed to resemble, like a subtle hint in a scene, but they made them all generic looking creatures indistinguishable from one another.
@@Sp3c9000 agreed! The horrible and scary thing about them in the book was that they resembled the tributes. Besides being physically dangerous, the mutts also did psychological harm, like when (if I remember correctly) Katniss recognised Rue in one of them.
I love these videos because every time I look for videos they are from 2014(nothing wrong like that) and I feel like I am one of the only people who LOVE hunger games. Not just the hunger games videos but the Harry Potter also. I really love the way you make them and I have been here since 100 thousand. Love your vids 💖And plz do Peeta and Madge (hopefully you know who that is 😂)
