It’s incredible how a man devoted to fashion can make such an impression. You’d think he’s nothing more than a stylist, but all his designs played such a huge role in the rebellion. It kind of makes me feel like no matter what your passion is, you can find a way to make an impact with it in the world around you.
I'm glad they went with Lenny Kravitz for the movie. He was not a physical match for the character, but he embodied him in every other way and I honestly can't think of Cinna any other way now
BasicRoots she actually appears in the first movie. After the tribute parade, their team comes up to them and Portia is standing next to Haymitch in a pink wig. She doesn't have any speaking roles though
I doubt he's from District 8, because it makes textiles but not apparently for luxury or high fashion (they make the peacekeeper uniforms, for example). It would make sense that among the luxury items made in District 1 (including jewelry) they'd also make the specialized fabrics for luxury and fashion.
@@rowanaforrest9792 Perhaps. But then again. perhaps had makes all kinds of clothes, we know spacifically that one factory is for uniforms, but not the rest. And remember Katniss knew what districts were part of the uprising because of her prepteam complaining about what they couldn't get. This list included Ribbons from district 8
As a designer, we are trained to not choose the obvious choice. To indirectly guide the audience and make a statement. Cinna's intelligence and overall consciousness is purely stunning. I am so proud that Kravitz portrayed the guidance and coolness Cinna processed. To Cinna!
Cinna was amazing. Cinna was so talented that Snow had him killed because he was a major threat to the Capital - all through clothes. I was devastated when he died, I could barely see through my tears.
I believe he and Haymitch had been plotting and planning for the rebellion and waiting for the right time and right tributes. Which would be why Haymitch convinced Seneca Crane to let two tributes win if they were from the same district.
I don't think it was Haymitch who convinced Seneca Crane. I believe the gamemakers wanted to make things more 'interesting' for the Capitol, by saying 2 people could win, but in reality, that was never an option. They wanted to see the star crossed lovers go head to head.
@@Shayla.r in the movie there was a scene where Haymitch tells Seneca to give the audience something like "young love" to root for, which then Seneca announced two people from the same district could win. I think that is what the OP is referring to.
If you read the book that accompanies the first Hunger Games movie, it says that Lenny Kravitz was just offered the role of Cinna right out of the gate. He didn't even have to audition. They knew who they wanted and didn't waste any time bringing him to life. And even if Kravitz isn't perfect in terms of matching the book's description, I think he was perfect as Cinna.
There's no other actor that I can think of to portray as Cinna other than Lenny Kravitz, really cool that I found out he's the father of the new Catwoman Zoe Kravitz.
I think only his eye color isn't a match. The book kind of avoids assigning race and just points at certain features, Cinna is a brown haired person with green & gold eyes
@@no_peacei mean truthfully the only characters from the movie that matched the book physically were effie and peeta. katniss is supposed to have darker skin and gray eyes among a host of other creative changes but i can’t imagine the roles being cast any other way
I love Cinna and I hated what happened to him, though I think it was necessary. Also, the movie's casting was everything for so many reasons. Lenny was the right amount of cool and soulful to play Cinna, and his real life relationship with Jennifer (she's friends with his daughter) helped make their closeness so believable.
I love the hunger games and harry potter books but i have dyslexia wish makes it 100 times hatrder so when u upload vids like these it makes me so mush happier that people who have the same intrest like me can help me undetstand these magnificent worlds that i love, so thank u Morgan
@@susblasian1433 having dyslexia doesn't make you dumb , it only takes a little bit longer for you to understand things. I know two people who are dyslexic and they both have multiple degrees and one of them has a PhD and he's the best teacher in our school.
The books did a really good job showing what their lives were like before the Hunger Games. The movies screwed it up by glossing over it in order to get to the games faster.
melodramatic7904 i agree tbh (i just read the books) but i want to hear more from peeta rather than just katniss maybe the books go into further detail and i just dk as i’ve just read the first book
Omg I love hunger games and Cinna is one of my favourite characters. I'm so glad your going into detail about him as there's almost nothing known about him
My theory is that he was born in District 8, known for textiles, and his parents were seamstresses who thought Cinna the basics of how to do different types of stitches, the texture and feel of textiles, how to repair clothes, and all that jazz. To live a better life, they went to District 1, where Cinna could go to design school so that he can have a future career in Fashion and Design, and his parents can open up a store that specializes in custom garments and repairing for the capitol and the districts. Cinna later moved to the Capitol where he got a job on the styling team as a wardrobe specialist for District 12, where he would later met Katniss and Peeta, and stunned Panem with his greatest creation, starting a rebellion by being an ally to the Girl on Fire
I don’t believe the citizens are allowed to travel outside of their districts. This ensures any possible whispers of a rebellion wouldn’t be able to spread to more than one district. There is no way to unify the citizens. At least, this was the Capital’s plan.
I personally think that Cinna came from 8 because he was a stylist and 8 is the fabric district. But I completely understand your argument and I think yours is more accurate.
@@mememonster9475 Plutarch Heavensbee was also quite fatherly towards Katniss. I think Haymitch is a lot like Katniss, which is why they butted heads so much, Cinna was gentle and encouraging, Plutarch pushed her and helped her become the Mockingjay.
Keeley Beer yes oh my days I recently (finished the last book two days ago)got interested and science they were made a few year ago no one makes new videos about this
@@wendymalcolm ya know I'm white, I meant it in a way that Lenny Kravitz was such a great portrayal and his gold eyeliner was so perfect the movies wouldn't have been the same if he was how he was in the books, I did t mean it in a racist way I'm just saying I am glad they decided to change his characters appearance.
So I genuinely adore every series on your channel with all my heart, but this is by far my favorite and I want more!! Specifically *Alma Coin,* _Johanna,_ Wiress, Effie, Annie, Plutarch, Caesar, Mags, Beetee, Lavinia, Enobaria, and basically any of the other characters you can find enough information to make one for 🥰
@@wellhellothere9239 Nah. i just looked at the thumbnail for a second then clicked on it. I was watching hunger games synopses and stuff before clicking and it was in the recommendation so i didnt even notice lol
How Suzanne Collins discribed Cinna is truly amazing,I think how he chose district 12 is really kind because he looked past where she lived but instead highlighting where she was from and,I find that very moving .
Just when you think that Cinna's life was terrible (his end was unjust, but predictable), you hear about Finnick's life, and a new definition of horror is born to life.
@@TheConMan1 it's really none of your business what "wording" I use. If I need somebody to call me out on the shit I do or say I'd move back in with my parents. Don't worry about the words some stranger, whom you have never met, typed on RU-vid. Worry about the actual company those children may be exposed to in their social circles. 😤😡👹
Cinna was honestly always my favorite character. When I finished readingthe books and found out he died I was heartbroken Also lowkey the books were far better than the movies
I was in a lot of denial when I first saw Cinna’s death. I convinced myself that he was just knocked unconscious. Even with everyone telling me otherwise I didn’t trust he had really died until the characters talked about his death in the next movie.
Cinna was one of the most important people in the hunger games. His style was unique and powerful and showed his feelings and emotion. His death was not deserved and he will be remembered. Great theory in him being in district 1. Keep up the good work
Plutarch was a Capitolite, and yet he didn’t alter his body in any noticeable way, so why would Cinna’s modest fashion sense be an indication that he isn’t from the capitol?
In the books it says that the game makers wear robes so I'd imagine that makes them a bit more eccentric looking compared to how the film's portrayed them
"I'm still betting on you, girl on fire." Cinna was honestly one of the best characters in the series. Courageous and heroic, and one of the sparks that set Katniss aflame.
Cinna is one of the better characters of this trilogy. Both in the books and movies. Right as Katniss meets him we can tell that he has a different approach to things. Instead of congratulating her he expresses his condolences that it happened to her and doesn’t see the point in congratulations. We later learn (at least in the books) that he was a sympathizer to the rebellion and he actually was one of the ones responsible for giving the rebellion fire when Katniss’ wedding dress caught fire and a mockingjay dress was hidden underneath. But unfortunately he met his tragic end because of this
Cinna had always been one of my favorite characters in the series and I was shocked and heartbroken when he died.... This video only solidified my love for him.
I think there was more to Cinna than said here or in the books. Because of his demeanor, and the fact that District 13 had spies in the capitol (as shown by Plutarch Heavensbee existing), I think he might’ve been District 13 originally, and got sent to the capitol as a spy, where they got him placed as a stylist later on. Also, I know this was covered in the video, but I’m going to try to be more in depth. Katniss’ relationship Cinna was barely covered in the movies. In the books, each victor was supposed have a talent. (Peeta has his painting, Beetee and Wiress inventing etc.) Katniss said she WOULD NOT sing for the capitol. Therefore, they decided on fashion, the decision made by Katniss in order to talk to Cinna. I love Cinna because of how much depth his character has, and how much he meant to Katniss.
I also want to mention this: Lenny Kravitz's daughter, Zoë Kravitz, had auditooned for a film series (which is Divergent). At the same time, the main lead of the series, Shailene Woodley, had once auditioned for Hunger Games as Katniss.
I was just re-reading the hunger games novel. When I read the part where Cinna told Katniss he requested to be the stylist of district 12, then when he told Katniss and Petaa to hold hands, and then Haymitch commented the holding hands at the parade is kinda rebellious. At the moment I was in thought like what if there was a mastermind behind all these, and Cinna was a part of a secret society in the Capitol who wanted a revolution of the Panem.
Since you are doing hunger games explained, the obvious one you haven’t done yet is Gale, seeing as we already know so much about Katniss, and not as much about Gale.
Cinna is such a great character, I am so happy that Lenny played him. It is not often that I like a movie version of a character better than the book version, but Cinna is one of few. Lenny did an awesome job as Cinna. I love your videos and your thoughts and theories about the Hunger Games.
Thanks Morgan for the video, you always make me feel good watching any of your videos. I could listen to your voice and binge watch your videos all day. I wish that I knew you personally and talked about Harry Potter, Avatar and Korra, Star Wars and more. You just manage to make my days brighter. You are easily one of my top 3 favourite RU-vidrs.
He’s.. in his LATE FORTIES? I want what he’s having. I think despite the physical differences, he completely embodies Cinna and acts exactly as I imagined when reading the books
I absolutely love these videos, it’s so interesting to learn about side characters, that are very important to the story but not the main character. Its obvious to make a video on the main protagonist but finding out information and the life of not as know character is very clever
Thank you Morgan for another great video. This one almost made me cry at the end. Every time you make a video about a character from the Hunger Games I just want to reread all the books again.
I have a funny feeling he might’ve been from District four because they keep talking about his green eyes and we know only district 4 has people that has green eyes I know that sounds odd but we have to remember district 4 with one of the careers as they always said so I wonder how cozy they were with the capital before because by the time Katniss volunteers for her sister they’ve already started thinking of rebellion quietly
Morgan Ross you really are the best. I first discovered you by watching the hunger games videos then I watched your Harry Potter videos. I wondered if you could make more Hunger games videos but there's not a lot of extra details in more characters except maybe Katniss, her mum or Madge, and Cinna so I'm glad you did Cinna :) I also thought Cinna might be from a district, I theorized that maybe he was an orphaned tribute or victors son and was adopted by someone in the capital, because he was the one person of the capital that cared about the districts non capital citizens. I actually read the books (well still reading) and the other prep team members don't see the games as harsh or kid dying, cinna saw the games different and they way the capital treats the districts, so I agree it is like he wasnt born there
All of your videos are incredible! Keep up the good work! I'd love to see more Hunger Games content from you, maybe you could do the life of Effie, Gale or Johanna sometime? Great video as always!
