THE LIGHTHOUSE | MOVIE REVIEW - Double Toasted 

Robert Pattinson accent changes as his story changes, it took me a second but I got it. William Defoe was amazing.

Batman and the Green Goblin stay in a lighthouse together for a month. What could possibly go wrong?

Robert’s accent goes in and out because his character is playing someone that stole someone else’s identity. When he starts getting railed up it comes out. Honestly it’s like how I am too. People say when I get pissed my Brooklyn accent comes out strong any other time it’s not as strong

This was the first movie this year that left me speechless after I left the theater. Most of it was due to me being so baffled by all the madness scenes that it was hard to even try to attempt to comprehend it. Also Dafoe's Neptune speech was something to behold...

this movie was like a grown up art house version of the misadventures of flapjack

The accent changing is intentional. Pattinson talks about it in interviews.

You're absolutely right about the Greek mythology connection. The movie is a reference to the story of Prometheus and proteus.

I thought Pattinsons accent was off too but it’s actually accurate for the time and location.

Noticed Pattinson's character only breaks accent when he's nervous. There's the scene where Willem is interrogating him where he came from and the scene where he's hanging on a wire trying to paint the lighthouse.

when Winslow pulled the mermaid trinket out of the bed, I thought it was going to be one of those gay panic movies (like Nightmare on Elm Street 2) and man...

The best movie of the year and an instant classic. Patterson deserves the best actor Oscar. What an amazing turn around for him. The guy has been all in on the craft. Dafoe is fantastic as well and would nominate for best supporting. I have no negative criticism for this picture. Every element is done to excruciating detail, impeccable direction, impactful performances all while retaining a unique look. It’s exceptional and Eggers has arguably cemented himself as a great. With only two movies under his belt. Cannot wait to see it again.

This is hilarious lmao I loved the lighthouse. I hope dafoe gets the oscar for best supporting role. That Neptune speech honestly goes down as one of the best scenes of all time for me.

HP Lovecraft Shenanigans this movie is.

Didn't care for The Witch, so I didn't have big expectations for this. That said, I thought it was good. Not scary in the slightest, not suspenseful either, but very very well acted. Both guys put there all into their roles and are completely deserving of an award if they get one. Technically it was excellent, sounded great, looked great. Only issue with me, was the mish mash plot, kinda felt crazy for crazy sake, without much underlying meaning. Some fun moments though. Overall - definitely Matinee worthy for the performances alone.
