The Magistracy of Canopus is a medium sized state in the periphery (making it one of the three largest Periphery powers), the whole nation is basically built on hedonism, imagine a planet that was Vegas, Reno, Atlantic City, Monacco Macao and every other city in the world built on vice then multiply that by a coupble dozen more planets.

The Magistracy of Canopus is an interstellar nation located in the Periphery. The Magistracy is a matriarchal society led by a Magestrix, an elected position open to any woman but largely controlled by House Centrella due to the family's popularity. Disparaged by some for promoting a hedonistic lifestyle, the Magistracy supports an open society and the personal freedom of all citizens and their right to live their lives as they see fit. As such, it is a popular destination for those fleeing persecution or looking to satisfy their discerning tastes.

The more battletech content the better

The whole german culture thing is also kinda overstated. The Lyrans are pretty pragmatic about accepting cultural minorities and basically don't really care about what single Commonwealth planets do on a local level. It's the political and economic spheres that hold it all together in the end. For an example, they've got the largest japanese population in the Inner Sphere outside the Draconis Combine, centered around the planet New Kyoto - and New Kyoto Japanese are actually notorious for absolutely despising the Kuritans for being essentially a fucking parody of their culture cooked up by one asshole Imperial Japan LARPer.

The Magistry of Canopus is a matriarch society found in the Properhrcy. However, instead of being ruled by Karens, it is ruled by wasteland party girls who decide their economy should be like New Vegas in space, with their gambling, hookers, racing with bookers, sex workers, gladiatorial rings with betting rings, kinky girls paid for sex, and an armed forces mixed with mercenaries to protect their stuff. They are also big in genetic engineering and have hybrids like catgirls, dog girls, kitsune, and mermaids, for who wouldn't want to be labeled a furry to sleep with a girl part animal and part human.

"Money and industry friends, money and industry." I'm curious how this varies from Tex's Battletech 101: Great Houses. I fear GW is ramping up for a normal scale Imperator. He's actually overselling the invulnerability to non mechs. Battletech tries a lot harder than most to be a combined arms setting, even if the mechs are the main stars. Tanks, fighters, and powered infantry, and even unaugmented infantry with cunning and specialization can fell mechs. Tanks and aerospace fighters may have been reduced from kings to lords of the battlefields, but even peasants can still fell a king in war. Oh, and fun fact about the leading large mech with a red tinted cockpit at 1:41 That was introduced in the HBS turn based Battletech game. It's called the Bull Shark. It is a vicious piece of work at full spec. The combine is the most militantly expansionist of the nations. Imagine Imperial Japan times Feudal Japan in space. Every house wanted this new tool of war, and given how the Lyrans became known forr military incompetence and a severe subtlety allergy, it is an amusing irony that it was their espionage actions who won the race to copy the Mackie, first of the Battlemechs, and did so without anyone the wiser. Not Musk. The Lyrans are successful with actual working products. More like Henry Ford. Let's say Ford, Colt, and Apple. Canopus is matriarchal space Vegas. There's more to it, but I'm giving you the surface level cliff notes. They may have a lot more, but they are known for their hospitality. The Lyrans can outproduce any enemy of theirs, but I don't know that it's greater than all the other great houses combined. There is one light mech the Lyrans have a soft spot for and keep in domestic production. The Commando. An SRM shotgun. 18:47 Cold, the air and water flowing.... That is Fortuna from the game, warframe. Money is even more of a big deal there than in the Lyran worlds.... because this is a place where everyone lives under an abyss of debt. And that debt passed on to the next generation. Because they are under the yoke of a the unholy offspring of a corporate plutocracy and a cult. 40k doesn't intend to endorse F type government, but at times it can despite overall intent, especially with most protagonists fighting for it, and there are fans of it who lack the awareness to see that 40k is not aspirational. And a dark few who go looking for validation of their preexisting support of F type governments. It really helped that the Lyran Commonwealth and Federated Suns were not adjoining neighbors. But the one that adjoined both of them was the Draconis Combine who both have long and bloody history with. Rasselhague was also built with long rebelling Combine worlds. Rasselhague is.... interesting. They're Nordic in culture, and they speak a weird fusion of Swedish and Japanese. The Kuritans were one of the designated bad guys of the setting. Capellans were the other one..... wh8ich was more than lightly rooted in the 80's yellow fear. As for how the Cappellans are... a mix of Mao's China and North Korea. Though their fortunes would improve in time. I am trying to parse details about after 3052 up to 3145 (the latest lore. It's difficult because I like it currated and collated, but it is the paddock of black sheep in the lore by era. Some ideas make sense, like letting the Davions have less plot armor and less consistent moral high ground. Others don't. Comstar had a fanatical and religious streak starting after its founder was mythologized by its second leader. What killed Comstar was that streak reaching a fever point point and leaving to cause everyone problems. So the things that had given Comstar such power were also now empowering their new greatest enemy. The Word of Blake. The era is known as Jihad. Followed by the Dark Ages. But his points still stand. The Atlas is the gold standard of assault mechs. There are platinum mechs, but any 100 ton mech is going to be measured up against the Atlas. The Capellan Confederation can be described in six words about what the Capellans are like as a government: North Korea with Fudel Chinese Politics. You know how ever setting has to have the bag guy faction. Battle Tech has two, the Draconis Combine is the competent one that is also justifiable in their actions, and the one that is curb-stomp by everyone is the Capellans. They are police state that if you fail a loyalty test, you become a servitor in the state. Not like the ones from 40K, more you are a slave.
