Carouselambra was the band's last epic tune, a three part symphony or mini-suite that replays the events of 1977 and Plant's prophetic look into the future. I'm Gonna Crawl was a fitting swan song of what could have been, a 60's Soul inspired tune that features one of Jimmy's best guitar solos. Last but not least, the "lost zeppelin song" makes many wonder.

Carouselambra! I thought it was a masterpiece the first time I heard it in '79. It brings back so many memories of being 13-14. In Through is their greatest achievement in my book. Cannot fathom any true Zeppelin fan throwing shade at this one.

Personally, I think it's garbage, because the vocals can't even be properly heard. As a piece of music, though, it's absolutely brilliant. To me, it stands up there with the other great Zeppelin tunes that are regarded as milestones

I was 13 when it came out and was very underwhelmed by that lack of guitar with Hot Dog the most prominent. Remember looking at all the pics from Knebworth in Circus, Hit Parader etc.. waiting for the US tour. Devastating news a year later. The album has aged incredibly well. So glad JPJ got to shine.

@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories Sometimes I'll go into Google Earth and in about two seconds I'm in Street View right there in Clewer, Windsor, at the end of Mill Lane and I'll just stare... Often on the verge of a tear (Verge Of A Tear - Great name for a poem, book, song, or album...). Or I'll go to the house on Shooters Hill in Pangbourne, and stare at that boat house. Or I'll go to the original Ronnie Scott's place in Chinatown's Gerrard Street where it all began. Or Jennings Farm in Blakeshall. And Old Hyde Farm. Boleskine House. Plumpton Place... Etc., And when I was a little boy it was all and only about the music... The squeaking Ludwig Speed King bass drum pedal in Since I've Been Living You; 484 Kings Road... Jagger's Strargroves Estate. Chiselhurst Caves, Headly Grange... But now, at age fifty six... It's an impossible and endless voyage to try to fill in the hollow, empty places. Places filled with empty musical and emotional debris left over from a childhood here in Seattle so ultimately filled with Led Zeppelin, Queen and The Who... Every morning from the ages of eight until fourteen - when I would wake up and pick up my mother's nylon string acoustic and I swear to Rushock Parish Church - that every morning of every year was like Christmas as the guitar came together for me in this mathematical-like way mixed with great mystery and enigma; both baffling and perplexing. Jose, I love all that you share with us. I love you for giving and sharing so much of yourself with all of us. You've become a treasured gift. I beg forgiveness for sounding so gushing and superfluous... But nobody has ever seemed to Get It. That black hole at the end of Mill Lane that can bend light and literally swallow everything that comes near it. Good night, Jose. Thank you.

I know I already commented this, and I’m sure I will again, but you have done a phenomenal job. You have literally contributed to the lore and legacy of the band with this document. The slow, spacey bridge is one of my top 5 Zeppelin moments or parts of songs. Thank you for showing the awesome Glastonbury performance in 1995, when they played that part as the bridge to “in the evening”. Excellent take on the last song at the end my friend. I too have wondered what this groove was to be when I first heard it so many years ago. I used to be friendly with a Berklee College drummer and when I played this for him, it’s like his world immediately stopped. He told me “wait….!…play that again!!!” Talent is one thing but…if you don’t have good sense of FEEL and TIME…then your phone is not gonna ring. I watched episode 5 last wk and I’m looking forward to 7. Lastly, when I first heard Crawl so many years ago, Jimmy’s note bending at his solos’ end would make me burst into tears. Here we are some 45 years later…and it still send a cold chill down the entire length of my back. It’s so very haunting yet so very beautiful.

This has been more of a "History of" then anything else, and it has been done wonderfully! I remember having to go to great lengths to see HALF of the video and pictures that you have put together for this series! I remember going to record swaps in the 80's looking for anything Zeppelin related. You could find it on VHS and it was ridiculously expensive. Those types of venues were the only place that you could pick up stuff like bootlegs and such. The internet has changed all that, because much of what you have featured is new to me! This was an amazing series of videos! Amazing! There are so many docus out there that are so bad, this is better than anything that I have seen from so called "production" companies! You have put them to shame with this series! I was also glad to see your talent as a player, it was an added bonus because you are very good! Thank you for putting this together! @@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories As much as I respect and admire him, Robert is an emotional diva. He also has a bit of a temper, especially as he's gotten older, and he sometimes shows it. Jimmy NEVER loses his cool, even if the press asks him the same question 10,000 times. Robert sometimes will glare and call a reporter a "schmuck" or worse if they ask, for example, about future LZ reunions. No question Robert's vocals for Carouselambra were buried in the mix by Jimmy. When the companion discs for the remasters came out no long ago, the mix had the vocals up front, and the meaning of the song was much more in your face. I'm sure Jimmy didn't want that to be in the forefront when the album first came out.

I love all of Led Zeppelin's studio releases. But the real magick is in the live shows, especially '69 through '75. I notice alot of people who either weren't there or whatever, bag on the '75 tour. I just got done listening to my copy of Seattle 3-21-75, that has, for me anyway, the Greatest Live Version of No Quarter. Jones piano playing, Page's solo, and Bonhams drumming are incredible. I have just about every show that is available, and I listen to 3 shows a day. One of my favorite things to do is listen to shows on the day and month they were actually presented. What the heck, I'm in my 70s, ill, and I can't think of a better way to keep my spirits up. I can feel really bad(pain), start a show, and within 10 or so, feel much better. Of course, a 420 & a painkiller help too. Hahahaha. Thanks for this Great Documentary of my favorite band. My bandmates and I have always said "We didn't have to sell our souls for ROCKamRING!!! Jose, I want to thank you again for another amazing video. What makes this really special for me is that you are not only an amazing musician in your own right but you also show such talent at editing, researching and displaying this documentary in such a way that keeps the viewers completely engaged. Your insight into the parts of Carouselambra was such a level of wicked insight that would make Aleister Crowley jealous enough to put a spell on you. LOL. I never picked up the fact that Plant took a bit of a shot at Page directly in the lyrics of this song. Wow! He was really the one who changed the most in the latter part of the band's last years. JPJ finally gets the credit and attention that he deserves thanks to you, Jose. Thank you for the amazing tribute song. Excellent.

Wow making Crowley jealous scares the crap out of me LOL. Thank you for your words, means a lot. This episode was probably my favorite and i struggled finding the right angle to tell the story of Carouselambra. Plant definitely channeled some of his rage and sadness in this song for sure. I really wished they played this at the 2007 Reunion, it would have been full circle but i think snubbing Jones from Unledded made Robert question himself, he knew the almighy dollar challenged his ethics and reunited him with good old' Jimmy. The fact that he NEVER worked with JONES as a solo artist is absurd. I love all 3 guys, they are Masters at their Craft. Tom after doing my research on Post Zepp 80s i came to the conclusion as to why Plant-Jones did not continue...not enough money on the table, that's it. There was not really a beef between othet than Jones not being at Karac Plant's funeral but JPJ was on a family trip back in Midwest USA and unreachable as opposed to Jimmy and Peter Grant. The reason Plant "forgave" Jimmy at some point was money, the more you look into it, the more like many things in life, money talks. Now that being said, Plant's ego up to 1998 was quite insecure artistically speaking so working with Jones would be complicated and terrifying, JPJ is a one man team pretty much and Robert always wanted some sort of leverage and power, look at the two bands he built and ended from 1981 to 1993. Plant suffered two devastating hits from 1977 to 1980, his trauma led him to alwaya have one foot out the door. Also looking into his family history, Robert does act from genetics indeed. Last but not least, Jones instills RESPECT and human nature tends to "hate" or get away from people smarter than them, such is life :)

This series is incredible. Your insights are stunning and your understanding of how Jimmy & Co repurpose older musical themes is nothing short of revelatory. (“Achilles” from live “Dazed” blew me away) Here’s food for thought: regarding the Carouselambra/Run Like Hell progression, I say not so fast! Listen to the intro to “Short and Sweet” on Gilmour’s first solo album released May 28 1978. It always struck me as a proto “Run Like Hell”. And we know Jones played with Gilmour on the Rockestra project. Maybe he listened to this track and it influenced him subconsciously?

THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST DOCUMENTARIES ABOUT A BAND I'VE EVER SEEN!! I am transfixed. Just for my own personal copy (not to distribute or anything), I've burned a Blu-ray with the 7 episodes and am watching it now in my home theater. It is stunning. Amazing work, my friend. IN THROUGH THE OUT DOOR is my first Zeppelin album. Just an accident. I was blown away instantly by IN THE EVENING. PRESENCE is still my favorite Zep album...but IN THROUGH THE OUT DOOR is up there. And frankly, I listen to the three left-over songs (from CODA) as if they're part of IN THROUGH THE OUT DOOR. These ten songs show so many shades of the band...as PHYSICAL GRAFFITI did. And when people try and claim the band "softened" at the end, just take one listen to WEARING AND TEARING. I've read 20 books on Led Zeppelin. I have all the pro-shot shows that have surfaced on Blu-ray or DVD. I have a great HD collection of their 8mm concert clips. And yet, I'm learning so much about this band just from this documentary. It is BEAUTIFULLY done. I applaud you, JCM. I cannot wait to see more. I will soon give a donation as well.

Finally some "In through the out door" musical content. Thank you. "In through the out door" is my favorite album from the band. This is probably due to many reasons. For one, I heard these songs on the radio as they were new when I was 10 or 11. Also, I'm a synth player and loved the styling John Paul Jones added to this record, more in line with my personal taste in music than their earlier albums. Still, pretty hard to top "Stairway" or "Kashmir" in terms of musical compositions. This album is greatly underrated. I heard it at a time when I wasn't judging it on their past because I hadn't really heard their past. Nor was it all about Jimmy's guitar for me either like it is for the numerous guitar players out there. For once, the keyboard player gets to stand out. Still really liked Plant's singing here and what the other two added. I wish there had been a follow up to this album, and in the same styling.

Another great video. Thank you for doing this series. I'm not a big fan of Side A (except for The Evening, which is fine, but not great IMHO), but I just love Side B: Carouselambra, All My Love and I'm Gonna Crawl are all among my favorite songs from the band.

Thank you for such a rich and immersive experience- love the spliced in shorts of your soulful musicianship. I don't think anyone has done Zeppelin in quite this way. BRAVO!!!

Carouselambra and I'm Gonna Crawl used to be the two tracks on ITTOD I'd typically skip back during the early days of my Zeppelin fandom. Now, they're my two favorite tracks on the album, and I simply can't get enough of them. Makes me wonder what my teenage mind just didn't pick up on them that my adult mind has become addicted to.

I like the burlwood look of your Les Paul. Nice job with the "last song" or "lost song" experiment with 4 and 5 guitars. my fave Zep tune is Kashmir

This is amazing. Incredibly well done. And can’t tell you how much I’d love to hear your solo acoustic cover of “CAROUSELAMBRA”. ❤️

Thank you very much Ivan! Hope you enjoy episode 7 of the series on 1980. I started another run on Post Zeppelin 1981-1989 about Page, Plant and Jones solo work :)

Bravo! Really cool imagining in your rendition at the end of the video. I could definitely hear Zep in my head.
