The Man From Medina 

Two years ago I made this mini doc. In September of 2017 he was arrested and locked up without charge and denied access to a lawyer. It is now over 16 months since he was taken without any word from the Saudi authorities. I haven’t spoken of this in case it put him at more risk but it’s been a whole 12 months since I last contacted them about him. This is shocking and he is far from the only one. There are thousands of political prisoners in Saudi Arabia with similar stories. Have a look at some articles, the things they are alleged to have been locked up for is incredulous. Many of the female campaigners for women’s rights were locked up the day the government finally let women drive! One of the things they campaigned for. The list goes on and on. Rabea is a good man, a kind man. He has a wife and three young children. They deserve answers. They deserve action. All the people locked up without charge deserve action.

I really enjoy your personal documentary work Philip. This is another great one. Hope it's not too long before the next.

Thanks Mr. Philips. This is an amazing video. While others condemn muslims and Islam, this video give a fresh air showing the true side of Islam and being a muslim. Thanks to Brother Rabea to show the sincere and kindness teaching of Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) and to Mr. Philip for making a sharing this video to the whole world.

This was beautifully made. It's great how you touched on the music part of his life. Many Muslims that learn the qu'ran especially at a young age have a wonderful singing voice. Comes from making sure everything is pronounced and annunciated as best as possible. Great insight and great for others to see of Muslim culture. Breaking down a lot of walls in under twwnty minutes. We appreciate it!

I don't know why this feels so heartwarming for me. Perhaps it's because this shows a more intimate side of a muslim individual, a far cry from the stereotypes that we see on the media. Please forgive my ignorance 🙂

Wonderful work ! i'm not a big fan of the stabilized gimbal look on moving shots on a documentary like this, I don't know why, it feels a bit unnatural.But it's a matter of personal taste :)

interesting how muslim singing is completely different from western singing. Reminds me chinese opera , which is also the whole other thing and it's being liked by millions of people .

This was just a little boring Philip. I'm a huge fan of your work, and I do find this guy charming and interesting but the dialogue was boring, maybe some narration from you would've made it more engaging? Either way, great production!
