I pray to mine every night to help me, resist sin and temptation, and to protect me from all types of harm. If it’s God’s will. I think a lot of people think the guardian angel supposed to protect us from physical harm but remember sometimes it’s God’s will that we do get injured because there’s a greater good that comes from it. Or even death.

I do both believe in guardian angels and have read Aquinas' writings on the subject. Both my wife and I have sensed times when there have been supernatural interventions in our lives. Primarily, I believe the angels inform our intellect through thoughts and insights regarding God's will for our lives.

You song with the rise of the New Age movement in the 80s a lot of Catholics started to want to name their angel and invoke them. This is a big mistake.
