I loved Suzie in this scene. She saw her client was hurting and upset and feeling really down about herself. So, she did what most good managers, what most good friends would do; She had her go back to her comfort zone and prove she knew how to do her job.

This scene is so perfect is many ways. Instead of letting Midge have her pity party in the hotel room, Susie pushed her to do it again even when Midge didn't want to. That was the best thing for her. Sometimes we don't need people who say "there there. here's some ice cream". We need people who say, "stop bitching and get up"

But there is also a line. Amy Winehouse managers went the wrong way Everytime they forced her to perform. So it's also a very slippery slope. I like that she asked after the show whether she is back because that shows she cares. Now the ice cream and pat in the back is an option of the stage didn't work

I think it was abit too all over the place midge was here her parents were there and joel with the bar and then lenny popping in at random, theres nothing wrong with Midge being the focus and everyone else being fleshed out gradually, they tried to juggle to many characters at the same time and half finished stories at the same time

It was good, but it lacked great the monologues by Abe and Rose, because they themselves are pretty much insecure about their lives right now. And yeah, like the other person said, it felt a bit too much discrete, it jumped both place and time a bit too much. It´s still better than 99% of TV though, with the last 1% consisting, among other series, the first two seasons.

Had many great moments, but a terrible ending for nearly all its plots, completely irrelevant stuff like the racing, and bewildering aimless plot threads with Abe/Rose in particular that went in the opposite direction from what made them charming to most viewers.

Exactly--what about that 10 minute voodoo chicken music? What the **** was that? There were scenes that were great like Midge helping Shy in the boat but some of it was not up to the quality writing and editing of the first two seasons. Not saying I won't be watching and waiting for next season but I hope the writing is tighter. I kind of liked the Casablanca ending--although Midge and Suzy already have a beautiful relationship.

Oh I agree! I feel like the first three seasons had a smooth trajectory with the story getting better and better as it went along. And while four and five weren’t BAD, it felt like the show lost it’s footing just a bit after the thrid’s dramatic finale.

This scene makes me sad for Midge and Shy's relationship. Midge fucked up in a way that could have put Shy in physical danger. It wasn't intentional, but it was a tricky situation.
