Imagine if you will... It's the early nineties. You just finished a new episode of Pete and Pete and then flipped over to MTV and this video comes on. That's a good day my friends.
As someone who suffers from severe procrastination, memory loss and a lot of other shit, this is the song I always listen to when life hits me too hard.
It was fucking amazing man. Really some of the best years of my life. I was a sophmore in high school when this record came out and ill never forget buying it at a record store. Glad younger folks are still enjoying it. :)
@@imfm He was their manager. He tried to get into a show but was underage so they told him to say he's a member of the band and dance around on stage. The rest is history lol
So glad to have had this band during my teen years; such a rocking fun sound, incredibly gifted lyrically, and a unique sound. Seeing the announcement that they are officially done on FB today hit hard, but what a legacy they are leaving!! Cheers fellas, stay mighty and stay boss!!!
I know right? All the pretentious bullshit wasn't standard. People were just being themselves. nobody was talking about racisim or division hardly as much. Yeah, there were racial issues and people talking about politics but the difference was a lot of people were not giving to the negativity--they weren't letting it become the predominant attitude and thinking. "This is the 90's" meant, "we're past all that stuff and not going to get caught up in it" Fast forward today and we can't for the life of anybody ever stop the drama....
Early 90s were the pits. Mid to late 90s were the thing. I miss plaid skirts, Mary janes, dickies, skateboards & happy jumping around. So much creativity everywhere. And Surge.
I love the scene in Clueless where Josh is dancing with Tai because she had no one to dance with. It was adorable and sweet even though Cher's date didn't approve of his dance at first until Cher explained why he was dancing and then Cher's date was like "Right on" and kept dancing all night.
Take me back to Toad's Place or Tuxedo Junction in the early 90s...half drunk and climbing on the stage to dance with the Bosstones...dive off into the crowd and surf until they let you down...the Bosstones were the quintessential New England music scene and every show was a once in a lifetime experience. MAN THEY WERE GOOD!!!
Love the fact that Dickie is wearing a Stormtroopers of Death hat. When I first heard them I was an instant fan they mixed Ska with metal and hardcore . Seen them live a bunch of time in the early to mid 90’s probably one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen
After all these years I still find myself, out of the blue, humming the brass intro to this song. Then I have to hear the song or it will haunt me for days and kill me.
Let's not forget the way he spits throughout the song, metal or death core style voice but delivers his verse in almost a rap way. Just stumbled on this song an its def got me hooked
93 such an amazing year growing up so glad I saw this video at the time first song on the first mix tape I ever made second song was joker any arguments?
@@cdudeNYR My friend, my friend... This is indeed a great ska band, but what about Suicide Machines--Destruction by Definition? I'm pretty sure they nailed it too! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uUlZPN2hp60.html
Back in the 90's when we had Ska shows in Philly, we had the Head liner and two opening Bands and you got up and danced from the first song till the last, those shows ruled and they were only about $8 or so. Boston could Rock back in the day too.
I enjoy being old at this point... Cuz I remember the way my sisters would, and still do, condescend me... And now every time I say I feel old, I turn to them and go, "oh! But you guys are twelve years older than me. You gen x'ers must feel ancient!"
My first concert, was a free concert that the Mighty Mighty Bostones played, in San Francisco at the Embarcadero. I was in Junior High School at the time, some 30 years ago, and they still bring me much happiness today. Thank you fellas for all the great music you made over the years!
One day, 6-24-20 I find myself in a car reading Jane Austen's Emma, my brother came out and saw me, he sat down next to me and said "y'know they made a movie of this that I want you to watch with me called Clueless, except they made it and set it in the 90's" a day later I watched it with him. Day by day I find myself speaking words like " as if!, I totally paused, and some random none-sense" yet still I still speak none understandably random Shakespearean things. It is by far one of my favorite. Movies. SHOUT OUT to all the 2019 6th grade English Teachers who take away their Ane Frank books and won't read the class Wuthering Heights!
same, basically I made my way here from listening to the band goldfinger and then going from them to listen and find the reel big fish and now I'm here
Correction, a couple of the bands that broke big first in the ska genre - like The Mighty Might Bosstones are truly excellent. Most ska bands are poor copies of the originals. Most ska bands suck ass or are mediocre at the very best and have opinions of themselves out all proportion to reality. Basically if all the genres of music were individual bands; ska would be equivalent to Nickelback. Sure there are some high points - like the Bosstones - but in general it's really best left unplayed.
Great song, great video. Lads are all so young in this one too. Takes me back to a better time. Ska/punk was so good 20-odd years ago. Thanks for the video.
3 doors up and straight ahead if someone thought to lock door...use the fire escape instead...someone's always up to something , if nothing happens in a minute....wait another something would. OH GOD...THESE SONGS RAISED ME
This song is outstanding, the video is excellent. So much energy and passion by this band. They have always been loyal to the ska genre, even though it has had its ups and downs.
So much steez back then, and Bosstones were drippin in it. Nobody sounded like them. So much dope Ska in the 90's. Even the short lived smaller bands like skankin' pickle had more funk and style than anything these days. Buck-O-Nine, Voodoo, Mustered Plug, Toasters, Reel Big Fish, list goes on and on. 3rd wave Ska was the bomb.. i don't even know what "wave" were in these days. Maybe I need to get my old ass out there again and hit the floor. I do miss the rude girls.
I guess all the ones beeing Teens in the 90's and still in love with these tunes ;-) so yess, still in love in 2020 when hearing this... good memories!
