The 2020 Mohican 100 was supposed to be my first 100 mile race. I signed up for it before I even ran my first ultra, River To Sea.
Last year’s race couldn’t get the permits to run through the Mohican State Park so I deferred and I was off to 2020 Pinhoti 100. I would have to wait til 2021 Father’s Day to finish my first Mohican. I can see why there are 10 time and even a couple 20 time finishers😳. The course was tough and beautiful.
I want to thank a few people for their help along the Path. Thank you to my coach, Run Natural Coach - Dawn Lisenby, who had a tight window to work with before the race. The slight improvements I’ve seen over the last 5 weeks have me really excited about the future. It payed off this weekend, I held it together through this whole run and this is new!
My Crew gets the rest of the credit - Stacey, my mom, Jeffrey and even Moo was out there in full support. It was them that acted as my brain for the vast majority of the day and through the night. They made sure I ate when I didn’t want to, and made sure I didn’t linger too long in any of my aid stations. The race course was absolutely perfect, as it ran us past the front door of our cabin on each of the 4 loops. I came here with the goal of running sub 24 hours and with their help and an unmentioned many I crossed the finish line at 23:37. Thank you so much for all your help!
