Blake will never be back to what he was. Many may say never say never. But it is truly sad. He went to the same HS as me. A great athlete he sure was.

I do track and when I was like 6 I fell over one of the hurdles and it was painful to get up so the medic had to carry me of the track come to find out I broke my leg and I had to go to the hospital didn't run for about 2 years

If you want to compare the two fairly you need to look at Bolt's 100m dash with a running start which is actually 8.7 compared to Carters 9.27.

No athlete out there now is showing signs of Gatlin, Powell, Carter or even Maurice Green sonmuch so you are comparing them to Blake and Gay's time. @@otaviorbs Bolt's best 100m was nonexistent til 2007 when he ran 10.03. He was 20 years and 11 months. Depending on who's criteria you go by, Bolt would have been beyond adolescence.

Track is a race to win. Why risk an injury or deplete all of your energy when there is a such thing as recovery, a next race and a career. Do pro basketball or pro football teams keep piling up the points once the game is in hand? Only in college and that is because of rankings. No, once you have the race in hand I say slow down, unless you are going for a world record ahead of time. The name of the game is win the race, not set a record every time you are on the track. Now if you slow down and lose or if running in rounds miss getting to the next round then that sucks. Otherwise who is really going to be upset with the guy who has the 100m and 200 m record since 2009, won Olympic Gold 3 times in a row and has 8 gold medals? Lol sounds nitpicky to me. You probably never ran track...

@@cattycats4 Bob Hayes time was actually 8.74 seconds with electronic timing, his 8.5 seconds was hand-timed. You can't be the best in everything my guy. Bolt ran 8.65 and Asafa Powell 8.68. Move on and stop the hatred.

Well ... Blake ran 9.12 for the last 100 m!!! And, most irritating ... his reaction time was 0.13s slower than Bolt's world record race reaction time. Reaction time ... nothing about running!!! Thus, his "real" time, with a "normal" reaction time, should be 19.13!!!! Just try to absorb that!!!

@@zanies6288 When you factor in the wind speed for their adjusted times, Bolt's time is still slightly faster than Blake's time regardless if their reaction times are included. The difference between their wind speeds had a about an equal affect on time adjustment as the difference between their reaction times. They basically canceled each other, making Bolt's race still the faster effort.

Still, that last 50m kick was unbelievable. I usually see a 'third gear' sprint like that in rugby and football, but those athletes are competing against slower competitors. This guy hit a third gear in the middle of a ridiculous field, overexerting or not, he looked inhuman for a few steps.

In all the sprint races they time the first half of the race, once you have that time, what’s left is the second split and simple math to get the second half time for the race. Taking in account physics, speed is not constant in humans. Theoretically, a human decreases in acceleration towards the end of a race and the best attain top speed at about 30 meters and can only maintain to about 60 to 70 meters. So the longer you can maintain top speed, the faster your finishing time will be. The sprint races are in two phases, the first part is acceleration and the second part is maintaining momentum. Amazingly, Bolt, later in his career and Xavier (X Man) in this race was able to maintain his speed when he was supposed to be slowing down and that’s called a “negative split” when you run the second part faster than the first and 9.92...that is amazing even with momentum helping.

The video is comparing the last 100m in each of their 200m prs which incidentally is tied at 9.2 seconds. He is not comparing the time to Usain’s 100 meter record of 9.58 seconds.
