13:18... Out of the many criticisms this scene gets, this one feels the most ridiculous. The boy couldn't even bring himself to his feet as his best friend (only friend left standing to boot) took his last stand, and you're telling me he's magically been cheered up? As for what it means... It's very clearly referring to Sora calling himself worthless without his friends. They even hammer that point home with Kairi and Donald.
Yes, He couldn't bring himself to his feet in THAT MOMENT specifically. The next scene you see him in, he's fully determined to go and save his friends. Are you implying that a sizable amount of time had passed since Riku told him to not believe that(me asking what that meant in that video was rhetorical) and Sora had a large introspective look on the current situation to collect his emotions and stand back up that we never got to see and are meant to accept? Or are you saying that when you're feeling lost and sorrowful if your best friend tells you to cheer up, you'll cheer up immediately without a second thought? Because to me, the latter is exactly what happened in that scene which I quite explicitly said if you just look 5 seconds after that timestamp you posted
I disagree with that last statement. Soley for the often over looked scene with axel and kairi in kh3. The first with them axel is slowly piecing to together his bond with xion through kairi. Axel celebrating summoning keyblades just like how roxas did the same for xion. And it all comes down to the moment when kairi said " dont hold back lea promise." All he sees is xion and breaks down but doesnt know why. Thats literally showing that even though his memories are gone his heart remembers the feelings he felt. And conisdering how axels quote is "got it memorized" its kinda ironic that he would be the one if the first people to remember. Makes that reunion in the graveyard perfect.
Yea I won't deny that their moments were not done *better* still not really as good. Symbolically, sure, it's great. But how often does symbolism apply in actual conversations and relationships? But I think what I talked about was the most critical points in both Sora and Roxas' characters and how inconsistent Sora's was where he just went a complete 180 from his despair
@@notsaxor id say that those moments with axel and kairi do matter in relationships the only thing with kh3 is that since axel got that closure in the finale we didnt get to see that apply that to his relationships with roxas xion and even saix. but with subject x in the future i feel like we will definitly see axel open up more in the future. Axel in 358 days kept secrets from roxas and xion which caused their friendship to become broken. He is anxious of ventus forgeting him so he never told roxas about him since he feared that roxas would leave him to. But here he is opening up to kairi who is someone he hurt in the past too. I genuinly think thats a heartfelt moment even though it could have been better. Opening up to someone, just talking about your feelings is similar imo to that scene with roxas and namine although with a different tone of course.
You made some good points there! I do think that maybe if the ending section of KH3 was a bit longer then maybe they could've had something like Sora and Riku talking about what's going on. I will say though that I think Riku might've said what he said because death was staring at them in the face, and they needed to act. Maybe if the demon tide left after it killed the others, then they def could've dove into it more
I have no qualms with what Riku did. But Sora's instant 180 as soon as he said that when he was loosing it and then 10 seconds later in the final world he's like "WE CAN DO IT, LETS GO" seems so out of place
I think the scene of sora breaking down extends through the almost silent section where he literally has to piece himself back together after and the whole segment of sora grappling with the concept of death maybe it’s cause it wasn’t voice acted but all those stars that had all those stories of regret and sadness I feel is not nearly talked about enough the subject of KH3 was very much sacrifice, death, return, departure the ending was pretty much KH1 again! The whole game is sorta an homage to kh1 with how open the worlds feel how new and shiny everything is the next game will most likely have a tone similar to kh2’s melancholic nature
I would have agreed with you if the conversation with the nameless star and Namine happened after that sequence and Sora had an epiphany or something while piecing himself back together (if you've played FF7OG you probably know what I'm talking about). My whole point was it was impossibly unnatural for Sora to be back exactly the way he was in like 10 seconds after that Riku scene
