Hello and Bonjour! In this trip report, I will be trying out Montreal's new light metro rapid transit system, the Réseau express métropolitain (aka the REM). In this video, we will travel the whole length of the system that is currently open to the public as of production of this video. You can consider this video the sequel to the trip report I made on the Montreal Metro last year.
With full automation and platform screen doors, the REM is one of the most modern metro systems in North America. Like most people who are intrested in public transit, I have long awaited the opening of the REM so I am really excited to try it out. Unfortunately, I don't have as much footage as I'd like as a lot of footage shot on my GoPro turned out too overexposed to be used.

I've been looking forward to this! Great video! So glad you enjoyed it, now you'll have to return for the new branches that hopefully start operation in 2024!

Nice video. I’ve ridden the REM once so far and also enjoyed it. I’m anxious for it to open up at the airport. One point to note though, you mentioned the metro has padded seats while the REM has hard seats. The metro actually has hard seats too , I think you’re mixing the soft seats up with some other city or metro line. We had soft seats way back in the earliest days of the metro but eventually they got rid of them sometimes in the 70s or 80s.

Actually the REM will cross at 3 places the metro , Bonaventure (Orange Line 2)/ Gare Centrale (REM) , McGill (Green Line 1) Édouard-Montpetit (Blue Line 5). but only the first station Gare Centrale / Bonaventure is opened right now.
