@@craigsands2567Honestly it doesn't look similar in the slightest, The new design has that dumb comb over swoop to one side look. Like he asks for the manager every time he enters a supermarket. Here he looks grunge and a little unkept which makes sense lore wise for tekken 4.
I know Tekken 4 doesn't get much love from other Tekken fans but I liked the vibe and aesthetic of 4. I don't even know how to describe it, but designs were great, the vibe was dope, only thing I think that holds Tekken 4 back from being a fan favorite is like you mentioned, balancing and roster. I legit think Tekken 4 gave us the best designs in the series. Like c'mon King's outfits in 4 has not been topped.
In my opinion the top 3 best Tekken character designs are all from T4: 1) Ling Xiaoyu's tracksuit outfit 2) Damselfly Yoshimitsu 3) Jin Kazama's hoodie outfit Also, from an art direction standpoint T5 was so hit-and-miss compared to its predecessor.
It was probably just how changed some stuff about characters were like kazuya's ewgf not launching normally, And the stage walls not being implemented well. Still a great game and i feel like the tekken story went to shiet when 5 started when it came to some characters
It was the first to do alot of things hence the hit and misses. 1st Tekken to have walls, Wall combos, Wall tech rolls, characters being wet in water, breakable objects, inclining and declining environments, stages that actually curved around during a match that changed the fighting dynamic entirely, the only one to date that allowed characters to move around before the match started, the 1st one to have characters speak in their native languages, the first time true side walking was introduced etc etc etc they really swung for the fences with taking Tekken to the next level which I respect the hell out of. I loved this game for sure, but with doing so much at once, its inevitable that some things are going to misfire. All in all, T4 had some great ideas that I hope can be implemented properly down the line with more experience and planning. Until then, the effort given in this game will now and forever be praised by me. Greatness is never achieved without taking risks💯
It was ahead of it's time in things, way too soon. Tekken 3 had only become a global phenomenon around 2000, so by the time even eastern-Europe picked up on the game en mass (and home consoles have become available everywhere finally), the new console and the new Tekken was already out, effectively ignoring a large market which only started to get their hands on the previous generation. There was literally no chance that the global audience picks up on it even if it had come out on ps1 after a massive hit like Tekken 3 was (one of the most perfect fighting games every created). Also it changed very much about the core aspects of characters who have just become superstars globally - you can't do that with everyone this soon. And even if this installment was the aesthetically and artistically most refined one in some things, it was doomed to fail because of the release window and way too many changes, way too soon. And because of these decisions (and some game-breaking gameplay mechanics) the game flopped, sentencing the series to recycle itself until it barely resembles the essence of Tekken 3 (which really was the first proper fighting game in the series, artistically was a milestone, etc), and as I see more and more gameplay from Tekken 8, it slowly descends into being a Street Fighter copy with different mechanics. Sad.
@@sorakazama7031 My personal favorites are probably Tekken 4, Tekken 3, and Tekken 5. Tekken 5 is not the best if we're gonna talk about story though, however, I like it.
T4 had some of the best designs that we never saw again... Paul and king being my faves The simple hair changes add a lot their characters and what point they r in life... Both being at a dark place... Paul for the tournament forfeit and king for the loss of AK to marduk
I’ve never played a tekken game personally, but your editing and humor is hilarious and entertaining no matter what. The kiryu coming in with a heat action joke was exactly what I what I was thinking at that very moment too lol
Tekken was a household game for me growing up. When T4 dropped, my mom got it soon as it dropped in Wal-Mart. Remembered playing it thinking "damn they got Jin as a secret character", then spent hours learning his new fighting style lol good times.
For Street Fighter 6 Capcom asked if they could borrow Paul's Tekken 4 Design for Ken cause of how smooth it looked back then and how smooth it looks now
"Brother what are you doing." "What did you just hit me with?" The Yoshimitsu experience, bonus points if the Yoshi main tells you they don't know either.
Tekken 4 was one of my favorite Tekkens to play as a kid, despite how it was received back then. By far my favorite character outfit by far "aside from Paul and Yoshimitsu" has to be Hwoarang's military outfit. Dude looked so badass
I think reducing the roster so considerably from tag hurt the game, and they mixed up some move sets such as Jin and Yoshimitsu. Had the best story cutscenes
Tekken 4 for sure had the best atmosphere and aesthetic to it. Still holds up well today. All the Tekken games were ahead of their respective times. Hopefully Tekken 8 won't disappoint.
Tekken 4 is such a classic game. I remember when Magic Mountaintop had this game in the middle of the arcade w the giant projector so everyone could see you play. I remember spending all of my MM coins in 2 hours on this game and the line being out the door JUST to play. So much nostalgia.
i just discovered this channel man i gotta say you are underated asf most people with 14k wouldn't be as funny as you but your stuff is hilarious man definitely subbing
I think its easier to appreciate the way this game tried experimenting with things now, but I remember being a little turned away by how "different" it was from Tekken 3/TTT1. Something about its mellow tone and presentation just felt off at the time compared to T3. It's definitely an interesting game to come back to these days.
T2 at my cousin’s house was my first time playing a video game as a kid. my grandma (RIP 😢) bought me a PS2 with T4 and the incredibles for xmas when i was 12...good times. i spent so many hours playing tekken force as nina. just out of curiosity have u ever played soul calibur? tekken will always have a special place in my heart but SC definitely overtook it as my favorite game.
Though Tekken 4 was broken in the competitive scene due to the environments, but yeah Tekken 4 was a solid vision. Kinda like an aquatic fever dream when it comes to the music and designs
I wont lie i enjoyed every tekken game. I've never played 7 and 8. But all i can say Tekken 4 was more advance since they were abiut to shift to PS3. For PS2 console this game was ahead of time. The graphics were sick as hell🎉. The sound tracks damn❤. We were into some real ish here
The best part about this game was the juggles weren't ridiculous! And the reposition grabs, overall it focused on the positioning and bare martial arts and not all the special flashy 1 hit death juggle shit you see today. I much prefer games like this.
absolute banger game. when jins hood came off fighting my brother would alway say'' its about go down now'' lmao, they he would kick my ass lol, good memories playing all nighters when life was simpler !
When tekken character had normal body propotions , now they have gone the street fighter route by making every single character super buff. They dint even spare hworang
