So it does make sense when you think about it from an investigative side, the initial fire report is closed and has been passed onto the Law Enforcement & Insurance (possibly homeowners) side which is what is still open. I would say that the box not being checked means no one walked up and threw gas on it followed by a match but it was set up to catch fire at some point in time. Basically it was wired wrong and caught fire.

marking a case as "intentional" can also apply to the original owner. maybe officials looked at the shitty wiring and said "aint no way hes not trying to set his own car on fire" lmao

The reason I assume they said it was intentional but no one was involved, was because of the battery. There has been a number of people pointing this out. I was a master tech at a Mazda dealership, the battery is kind of close to the hood, and with out protection, as well as a hold down, that battery can jump and short on the hood. Now with that said, imagine using an incorrect size battery for whatever reason, if it's tall enough or if he recently did something with the battery per se, that could cause a fire right where you see in the photos. Now, with how he did his wiring job for the starter, this is going to add a fuel to the fire. Or electricity.... Case being, even though the reports aren't clear, I believe this was him showing the world his mistakes. Simple as that.

I love seeing investigative videos like these, a very entertaining watch that intrigues my mind. On the topic of this investigation, it seems like the incompetence of the fire investigators have something to do with hiding something from the public. Just my opinion on the matter however

Most likely a electrical fire but if it was arson, I would have to guess that they used steal wool wrapped around a plastic soda bottle filled with gas. Definitely looks like the electric system got shorted tho as the battery area and fuses box were the main hot spots on the hood, only way to truly get an idea is if we could see a photo or video of the interior and the switch after the fire. Personally if I had a car with some expensive parts on it and no insurance, I would take out the battery and have a bolt hole in the rotor to “lock it”, but if that was the case (he did disconnect the battery) and someone actually did crisp his car then the electric wouldn’t have shorted. Not saying he’s said anything along those lines, just attempting to think logically.

It just makes my initial opinion (that I shared in the comment of your first video) true. We don't need to make him a fool when he just shared his and fireman opinion on his fire. Just wait for answers coming from professional. If we never get it, then we don't really care, and it's just sad that his car caught on fire. at this point i dont even know what to believe as there are so many theories on what could have caused the fire main one being electrical issues but i do think wiring might have caused the fire as you said also nice video man

yeah but heres the thing if it was the starter in the interior would the fire be in the car itself decept in the engine bay?

By the images I've seen it can't be the fuse box that caught on fire as it seems to be on the ground fine, but then again what do I know. A good picture of the engine bay to see if there's any potential glass shards or something even slightly resembling a Molotov anywhere would be helpful as then you could see if it was arson. Still seems very fishy though. Waiting for a second update or such.

Did he need to modify the fusebox location at all to get the wheels up so far? Guessing he would've needed more clearance?

I was a Mazda mechanic for years and I have watched the exhaust on these get cherry red if it’s running a little richer than normal the exhaust manifold is on the passenger side and there’s lots of stuff that could catch fire including plastic oil injection tubes. In my experience this is likely the cause

I own a manual rx8, tweaked a few things (decat, cone filter...) nothing crazy. Been following this whole show since it started and I've not heard a proper breakdown of the evidence we already have from socials... Yes, there may be a case to be made for an electrical fire, but I still think there's enough evidence to suggest arson; - Rx8s have their issues, but electrical fires are not common at all. For anyone claiming a fuse 'blew' and started a fire needs to reevaluate their worldview. - I'm willing to bet that an influencer/car guy's 'hater' probably knows their way around engines. A perpetrator may well have planned this whole thing to look accidental. Despite the engine bay being mostly metal there are plenty of ways to start fires - wire insulation, filter fabric, leaked fuel, tyre rubber and even debris collected(or deliberately crammed) in grills/intakes/under the splitter - without any electrical faults. - Electrical fire even more unlikely if the battery was disconnected. - We can see that the FL wheel arch panel is completely charred, yet the door panel is barely damaged. This tells me that a perpetrator likely doused the bonnet/front area with flammable liquid first. Just an observation. - The bonnet appears to droop down, suggesting there was no explosion from the inside. On top of that, it looks like the metal itself is torn in some way. I can only guess this was caused by an impact from above. Again, just an observation. Now, I'm no fire/crime expert. But it disappoints me to see the destruction of a culture icon like the Rx8, stanced or not, deliberately or not. It is especially infuriating that the Internet has swung the blame to that poor sod who is now a car down, all because of a few suspicious posts. Any fellow car guy would agree that they're probably too busy burying their head in their engine to be making and sharing memes slating this guy. Anyway, rant over. 🤪 drive safe yall

hey bud. so saying "i dont have insurance" is pretty easy, especially on the internet - then collect a check and no one would know. i found the go fund me, it was at like $1200... not 30k. lol it has since been deleted but i was checking every other day or so and tbh i was mad it got that high.

I've owned a few rx8s and these things get HOT, had a couple of times when the cat got red hot and almost caused a fire, and if you were to fuck about with the fusebox, there isn't much clearance above it, very easy to short out and start a fire, especially if you smash the shit out of the car to get it on a ramp and jump/stand on the bonnet.. 99% sure this will come down to poor workmanship/neglect resulting in a fire

Sounds to me personally that they have no clue what happened, but my best guess this “nobody involved but intentional” would be no external persons besides the owner. My fire captain told me a story how a guy cut his fuel line and started his car and ignited the fuel for insurance fraud. Now I know this guy didn’t have insurance on that car, but it could be a ploy for attention and views for social media purposes. It’s not unheard of for people to destroy vehicles for views (whistlindeisel, Mrbeast) to name a few. The difference between them and this case though is it’s obviously intentional and they address that. But for a medium sized account like him I wouldn’t run it past him to pull such a stunt and create this whole mystery thing of who destroyed his car for clout. People have done more sketchy things on the internet for clout. I’m sticking by my initial thought that either he, set his car on fire intentionally or it accidentally caught fire and he’s milking it for views. Yes the investigator has closed the case but that could just be for now. The fact they have no idea of the ignition source and then to close the case seems off and not like a fire department. 90% of the time they give what they think started it to add insight. Although if this case is clearly that he set his car on fire the report of intentional but nobody involved would make sense. Cant arrest someone for burning their own car unless it endangered other peoples property. If you read all of this thank you for your time.

I'm more curious about the end result, though I find the angst and anger against the car is quite silly. I used to have a push start button, which if done correctly, is a safe trailer park repair. I could see somebody not knowing what they're doing and wiring up directly to the fuse box would burn it down. I feel bad for anybody that spends the wrench time and gets grief. It's not my car, I'm not financially dependent, and if he wants to be an idiot and fail to get insurance, man that's all on him. I do not see how getting worked up benefits you, and he probably doesn't give a crap. Just chill and wait to see if he gets arrested for fraud. Now that's be good tv as the dumbass was driving a car without car insurance, advertised the fact online, and didn't even try to hide it.

Well I guess time will ultimately tell whether or not the real truth behind what comes out or not. My guess is that something DID happen but the story that has been told thus far has been spinned in a way where it currently doesn't add up or make complete sense. Hence why there is so much speculation surrounding the whole ordeal.

It's that the police could dig at it and find out exactly who or what caused it, but being that no other property was damaged and not one was hurt or injured, and they have no solid proof leading them directly to what or who did this they probably won't continue the investigation or ever look further into this. It's just that they have higher priorities they have to attend to first before this. Je probably has full coverage anyways. So I never ever won anything in my life. I could really use this and it would be greatly appreciated. I don't ever have any luck though. Everyone have a wonderful & safe holiday season especially while out driving bc of the drunk drivers on the roadways around those days we celebrate. Be smart, don't drink and drive.

No insurance? What is it doing on the street ? The cops are probably looking into his bank accounts and any other liquid assets. If he couldn’t afford insurance something else is going on. direct power to starter, so a very low current wire from the starter solenoid to any 12v source you think is sketchy ?? erm, you been around cars long ?? this practice has been going on for years and the current draw is low, less than a few amps, so maybe the wire shorts to ground, the wire would melt and be damage up to the switch, then the wire from the switch to starter be un burnt, i doubt it was the starter button which caused the damage.

Honestly, the guy looks scatchy AF, the whole story behind it is scatchy. Claiming to have video footage, and doubling down to say 'There was no good angle' no-one buys that... Claiming to have no insurance, I doubt it. Hardwiring to the starter? Wiring your LEDs straight to the battery? For the love of god, never ever ever touch a car again. There is no-one in its right mind to just set a car on fire out of hate. Specially if there is no actual benefit to it. And with only the engine area being burned down... Someone that actually wants to burn down a car, will soak the whole car with fluids and be done with it. This looks to "clean" Car caught fire by his hand or due to some junk wiring, which ultimately is by his hand. There is no other way.
