If you're a car guy with some extra money in your pocket, chances are, you spend a lot of time on Facebook Marketplace like I do. Whether you're looking for a new project car to start a build, or you're looking for a solid deal
on something to flip for a profit, you've probably noticed that prices on older 90's era cars have SKYROCKETED in the last couple of years. I can remember hopping on craigslist about 8 years ago with $500 bucks and
finding something that I could drive home within a couple of hours. Nowadays, that's pretty much impossible. So today I thought we would go through some of the typical listings you might find while scrolling through
marketplace and just talk about how out of control things have gotten.

What used to be fun. Is now one of the biggest headaches I have ever experienced. Every car is now over $2,500. This ain't just sought after cars either. We ain't talking about running either. Needs a transmission, engine, or its gutted. I just need an everyday vehicle currently for a second car. I'm not going to drop big bucks on something that shouldn't exceed $500. I know inflation plays a role here for obvious reasons. The other issue I see here is people trying to make money whether this is their main job or side cash. Not to mention most of these sellers are extremely rude. Even parts have gotten extremely expensive. Found a 302 ford and they want over $1,000 for it. Not rebuild or even freshened up. Not even running. An old rusted engine block that needs a rebuild. That's fine to me, but not going to pay big money for something that just came out of the grave. I say the best option to deal with this is to only offer a littler scrap value of the product. I know an engine will only net about $100 for a complete engine. Better of with the pull lots now.

You hit the nail on the head. People want top dollar for junk these days and it sucks. The cars I own I've gotten extremely lucky with the prices I got them for, but it's definitely not like that for everyone. I'm not paying 2 grand for a car that needs major work. I see expensive parts a lot too. Especially Honda stuff. You could get a B16 or GSR sub-$1000 5+ years ago, now you can't touch them for less than $3000. It's just crazy.

Pricing on 240s in my area gives me depression, because I want one really bad. I’ve settled on an e36, since they’re much cheaper and they have an I6

350z boys in my area wanting 13k for a DE! with 100,00 plus miles. And IS300's with over 100,000 miles for 12k-14k. They are taking up space on the marketplace because nobody is gonna buy their shit.
