I was a friend with a tall girl (5’9”) in high school. Her mom picked us up from school. In her native language, her mom asked her why is she hanging out with me because I’m so short (5’4”). She told her mom “don’t say that, he speaks the same language”. Silence from there on.

Fat shaming women is a huge mainstream issue while height shaming men is never talked about. Difference is you can control your weight but you can’t control your height.

I've heard of a chinese social gender experiment, made by a teacher. The teacher said that the girls would not be allowed to get lunch that day, only the boys would eat. The result was that all girls ate, with no discrimination, even the ugly and boring ones, because the boys shared their food with them. The following day was the opposite, only the girls would be allowed to get lunch. The result was, most boys starved, the girls shared their food only with the two boys considered "popular" by the girls, in other words, those which they had a sexual interest, that they considered as a potential mate.

If a woman says she has a height requirement, i can perfectly say I have female breast size requirement.

I am 5"11" My brother is 5'0" My son is 6'4" I have seen how women treat men unfairly based on height. I have observed women flock to my son, and I have observed the disparate treatment my brother has endured throughout the course of his life. I am no longer in the business of trying to change women. But, as I want the best for both, I try to do my part to better the situation. I believe us men can do right for our shorter brethren by giving them the respect every man should receive. In other words, women presumably want a man who is respected by other men. It is up to each of us to give that respect to each other --- irrespective of height.

I'm a very tall guy. Whenever a woman utters something to me that disparages short guys, or says that she would never date short guys, I dump her.

Trend #1: Women continue raising their standards higher and higher in what they will "accept" in a man. Trend #2: Women bringing less and less to the table.

Male height is the single greatest variable that predicts success in almost every facet of life. Racism and sexism don't even register on the scale when compared to height discrimination.

I'm a tall guy, and when women start laughing about short men, or commenting on how they're glad I'm not i ditch them immediately. Same thing when they talk smack about a man's hairline or anything else like that. It sort of reminds me of my ex, who used to brag about making her ex's cry. Telling the story of her dominance over men she'd 'dominated' (wronged) gave her a sense of validation. It was a clue i should have paid attention to that she was a piece of sh*t. P.s. i end up ditching 100% of women with these standards.

I’m 5’11”, one of my brothers is 6’2”, and the other one is 5’9”. The 6’2” brothers wife makes fun of me for being short even though she’s 5’1” herself. I always say “I’m not though?” And she’s like “you’re shorter than your brother lol”. Wtf

It's funny to me how short men are made fun of constantly on social media and even real life, and instead of that being the problem, they've created the term "short man syndrome" to refer to those who are affected by it. It's honestly disgusting.

5’5 male here. I’m almost 40 years old and the general energy I’ve got from women my whole life is that I’m some sort of stray dog that wondered into an elitist party. “Don’t mind him, if you ignore him he’ll go away eventually”. How is that not supposed to wear you down to a nub?

As a 6’1” guy, I’m glad I don’t have to worry about this. However, still never had a girlfriend in my life and I’m on the second half of my 20’s.

Fun fact: There was species of elk known as the Irish elk. Female elks were picky over mates and only chose the biggest males with the largest antlers. Over generations, the males became so large and their antlers so big that they could no longer hold their heads up. Their antlers frequently got entangled with trees which lead to starvation or predation and they couldn't fight off predators. The species went extinct soon afterwards. This is an example of extinction by selection. I can't help but think this is our future.

Man I got depressed after watching this video. I'm 27 years old and 1,65 m tall. (5'4). I never was on a single date till now, because nobody ever gave me a chance. I asked about 20 to 30 different girls out. All said no. For all the years I've been questioning myself, what could be wrong with me. So I thought I had to better myself. I got a better job, my own place and my own car. I am a highly agreeable person, because that makes me happy. I also got a lot of friends, so I'm not anti-social or anything. I also got very good hair and a deep voice. You know, stuff I thought girls like. So I thought I was golden. Apparently not really. Sometimes I also got laughed at when asking someone out :( Sorry for sharing so much. I almost have nobody to talk to about this stuff.

Dating a women in her 30s that already has a kid, just know, you never would've been her first pick. Just let them stay alone.

Honestly I'm 5'3 and never had this problem maybe because I'm from South African, but no women has told me your too short and dated girls who are taller then me and never once brought up my height maybe it's a America thing

The worst part of this for shorter men is not even to learn that women prefer taller men to this degree - they already knew that. The worst part is what kind of relationship will they have once they pair up with women who regard them as a last resort? The main problem is that average or below average women feel entitled to an above average guy, last time i checked for men that is not the case.

Women wanting to date tall men is just a new phase. I am 65 and 6’2” when I was in Junior and High School back in the 1970’s most the girls wouldn’t date tall guys. I don't know how many shorter women wouldn’t go out with me. Thankfully there were a few and I eventually found my wife who at 5’10” wasn’t adverse to my height. As you would assume our daughter is tall and she has no problem dating men shorter than herself my wife didn't either as her first husband was shorter than she was. She was a widow when we met.

I’m 48 years old at 5’7. My hay days was of course in the 90’s and I’m here to tell you that height wasn’t really a big deal then. It was mostly about the man your were in the heart, somewhat status, personally and looks, height was dead last. But when the internet blew up and went from your desktop to the cell phone, that’s when it all changed. Women gained more opinions and became more selfish

It always baffles me how Western media nowadays almost always portrays men as being more shallow than women. Every (straight or bi) man likes a pretty woman, sure, but our standards of what constitutes as "pretty" are _significantly_ lower than what women consider "handsome" in men.

My partner once said to me while we were standing on an uneven patch of road, which made me appear significantly taller then her, "Wouldn't it be great if you were this much taller than me?", to which I replied, "If I was this much taller than you, you wouldn't be my partner." The subject was never broached again, and we've been together for over 30 years.

I'm tall (6'2" - tall but not off-the-charts) and I regularly check women who have negative attitudes toward short guys. I don't have to be on a date, if it's my female friend, a coworker, or someone at a party, I step in and say something. Women never hold each other accountable for their unrealistic standards, and women are dismissive of everyone whom they don't think deserve their attention. It's getting to the point that men not only need to hold each other accountable (as we always have) but we need to be the ones to hold women accountable too.

The thing about women being more selective with regards to appearence than men is absolutely true. And this is not only true with regards to height. There was a dating site who tracked how women and men rated each other with regards to appearence and for men you got an pretty decent approximation of a bellcurve centered around 50% meaning that on the assumption that female attractiveness had a standard distribution, men were actually quite realistic in their assessment of how beautifull they were. Women on the other hand if I remember correct rated 80% of men to be below average looking which is absurd. So yes - I think it appears to be very much the case that women are more critical of how men appear than is the case the other way round.

fun fact for short guys: Tanks, fighter jets, and a lot of spacecraft are cramped spaces, so shorter guys are in higher demand or even required for some of the coolest jobs.

As a guy who is 5'7 from my experiences and observations, if you are short you need EVERYTHING to be going for you. You need to have a nice face, cant be bald, good teeth, low body fat yet really muscular, high status job and lots of money, have cool and amazing hobbies. While some boring tall guy that hardly works out gets man women. Im sure in the 80s, and probably further back women where not so picky. I blame social media and the feminist culture. Life is unfair, espicially for men

"Once all the tall men are removed from the dating pool, women are gonna be forced to settle with the shorter guys" if only that were true. Instead what's gonna happen is they're gonna chase down the taller, successful guy even if he's already taken and even though they know they're gonna get dumped. Women never lower their standards, and if they don't succeed in getting what they want it's men's fault, not theirs.

I've always hated how for the longest time women made men sound like "picky pigs" for their preferences (like weight). But then this whole time a lot of women wouldn't date someone for the sole reason of their height. I feel like weight is a better preference since it's controllable and relates to healthy lifestyle. Meanwhile, height is neither controllable nor related to health.

Many women would rather share a man that meets their expectations with another woman, or several women, than compromise on their demands

Here is a way of looking at things! If a woman rejects a man based solely on height then he dodged a bullet! I can understand the attraction to taller man due to evolution but in this modern day to solely reject and not look further is just stupid as its no indication of a bad or good man although it is an indication of HER entitlement and superficiality.

I know multiple couples where the man is shorter than the woman. They all have one thing in common: They did NOT meet on the internet.

I am 180cm - (two inches taller than the National average in Australia) - and I have always found the fact that it is perfectly 'cool and normal' to treat shorter-than-average men with open contempt for something they have no control over is SO f$cked.

I recently had a woman stop serving me in a mens clothing store as soon as a taller guy walked in. She stopped mid sentance and almost threw herself at this guy who was at least 6'2" (I'm 5'7"). This woman had previously ignored other customers who had walked in after me until a guy who was above average in height and looks came into the store. And this woman is the manager, around 24 years old and not even single (I know this because I'm friends with other staff there). Things like this happen a lot.

As a man, I have absolutely no problem with the way any woman chooses. If I'm not interesting to her because I'm not tall - ok, thank you for not wasting my time. For me, the answer "no" - is never a problem. I look forward to it and wish for it. "Yes" is the problem and the cause of everything bad and in some situations - good.

It's crazy how their summary and conclusions go AGAINST the study they made. They say that shorter guys will be wanted as soon as taller men are removed from the dating pool, BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT THEIR OWN DATA SHOW. Women do not settle. They will not just go for what is available if they think they want something else and it is what they see around them. So in the situation where "all the good men" are taken, they will just wait or try to take someone else's man rather than settle. It's like the people who made the study, didn't expect as brutal results for shorter men and then they just wanted to state something that goes against their own study or is false just not to make women look so bad...

I’m 5’7 and I’ve been on both sides of the “sexual marketplace” throughout my life so far. What I’ve learned as a “short guy” is that you have to carry yourself in such a way that commands respect… and it has to be real. It can’t be manufactured, and it can’t be “learned”. This type of self awareness and body language can only be achieved through disciplined lifestyle and self love that will in turn grow the self love that has been suppressed deeply inside so many of us. Naturally, this confident stature will attract negative responses as well. Insecure self-hating fake tough guys will go out of their way to test you, and women (usually above average looking) will also go out of their way to belittle or even embarrass you. These situations are when you will prove that your stature is real, or if it is as fake and superficial as the morals and standards that these women claim to have whenever convenient. Yes it is exponentially more difficult to have a 5 in the beginning of your height, but a strong man adapts to these hardships and makes the best of them. Victim mindset is for those who are comfortable being at the bottom of the pyramid. I myself refuse, and I encourage all of my fellow men to refuse as well. Best wishes Alex, and to the rest of you. It's like that stand up joke about dating apps woman: "how tall are you?" man: "how much do you weigh?" woman: "hey you can't ask that, it's hard for me to lose weight" man: "well it's even harder for me to gain height"

I am 6'2". No matter your height, you need to understand that none of them are capable of love, gentlemen. They love status, attention, money, security, and "tingles"... not YOU. This is why very very few marraiges are happy.

Don't let this scare you. All of my friends who are 5'6" - 5'10" have girlfriends or got married. Work in your personality. Unfortunately, most short men have short men personalities.

For shorter guys it doesn't stop at dating. It continues to business also. Put two people in a room and have someone come in and ask a question. Most will look to the taller individual.

it's not just about dating. it's also about women's tolerance to joking around. I'm 5'5" and my 6' coworkers can say things to women that would get me walked out for. it's only sexual harassment it they don't want the attention.

Even though I'm naturally 5' 10", I was in a car accident that paralyzed me from the waist down, and put me into a wheelchair. This makes me only just over 4' tall, since I'm always sitting down. I've noticed that women pass me over because of it, so I haven't had a girlfriend in about 5 years. The last one I had was the one I had at the time of the accident, but she left a year afterwards. It's definitely really hurt my self image, to the point where I'm trying to work towards using leg braces so I can stand up to my full height again.

Gender relations and dating options have never been harsher for men. The more I think about it, the more I think that this alone, however ridiculous that is, could cause a collapse of western societies. I used to date a far-left PhD student of History who was a specialist of the Etruscans. I never dared suggest to her that the sexual mores of women of that civilisation might be a credible hypothesis for the cause of the collapse of that otherwise incredibly powerful civilisation.

What women say in a survey and what they do are two different things. Demographically after women reach age 30 in the US women face an increasingly uphill battle to get any man. Add to that, toxic feminism, the financial risk men take getting married, and the fact that 10 percent of the male population is homosexual and women have very little chance of getting any man. They're also competing with foreign women who are more traditional and will do anything to live in the United States. Height isn't many womens' only criteria. A lot of them, about 80 percent will only date the top 20 percent of men. Their expectations are absurdly unrealistic. If they're divorced with children they stand no chance.

I once asked a female friend "why do you want a tall guy?" She said "because a tall guy makes me feel safe and protected". I asked her, "what if you met an average height guy who had a black belt in karate. He could protect you. Would you date him?" She smiled sheepishly and said "No, I still wouldn't date him."

Related to this, the older a woman gets, the more her dating standards are about prestige rather than simple attraction. You will hear women say "I'd rather be alone than lower my standards" (and I don't think they're bluffing). For them, accepting something "less" would be a blow to their validation. It would literally be admitting inferiority. It's a mistake to think that modern women are looking for a functional relationship. They're in it for fashion; they want to wear you like a garment. Thus, you have to look a certain way, and if you don't, it shouldn't be surprising at all that you don't get chosen.

I was once called short by a girl at a party even though I'm 6'1", thankfully everybody else in the room was quick to shut her down (both men and women), not everyone has lost their minds but some definitely have.

Im afraid of tall men and refused their approaches mostly. My crush soulmate which whome i flirted for years was 172cm tall, but we never got together as he didnt want a relationship anymore... i was so devastated and still sometimes wonder how it would have been, because his soul, personality and looks had a strong impression. Another time i met a handsome guy, which i imagined to be like this, same height, we got together, he dumped me because i didnt reply for some days being in the wild, but i am still proud that he was my boyfriend once. Now i am with a tall guy, a trait, which, as i said i was never attracted to. Maybe i am the exception, but it also seems, that small guys tend to be very picky as well, or have a big ego, as soon as they have a pretty face!

I'm apparently the absolutely ideal 6 foot 2 inches, 187 centimeters, and I just wanna throw out there I VERY actively avoid anyone who mentions or has on a dating profile any sort of aggressive height expectations, even if I meet them. Huge red flag.

There was a girl (can't really call her a woman even if was grown up) that argued with me about tall preference in females, proudly explaining to me that women do that because they know other women have those preference so they don't want their son to be impacted by that and it's in the nature and "duty" of female to ensure good genetics... She was 1.40cm... so I told her "why would any male want reproduce with a dwarf and see their son struggling because they aren't taller? why would a short woman want to reproduce at all if they know her son will struggle to find a partner?" she didn't respond or spoke again for the rest of the evening. I find two interesting things about her argument, 1.She first shifted the responsibility to other women 2)She used the well-being of her hypothetical son to justify her preferences

Women: I wont date a man below 6ft tall (roughly 12% of the world population) Men: Thats fine, I wont date a women over a certain weight. Women: *suprise pikachu face* These women going after men based on height, looks and high financial status are going to be very lonely.

Having a height preference as a woman is absolutely fine. Being rude and dismissive about a man’s height is not. Men need to learn to differentiate between the two.

I have a 11YE son. He recently had some buddies over the house for a sleepover and they were quasi-ripping on a short classmate. Mind you, this is pre-puberty so they’ve all got growing to do. It was good-natured, not mean spirited or anything. I interjected immediately and put the kibosh on that. Told them “don’t short-shame a bro, ever. Even if he’s not a close buddy, stick together in dude solidarity. You guys will have women short-shaming you most of your adult lives.” It was a valuable education they took to heart.

I’m 5’6 and this doesn’t surprise or bother me at all. If a large group of women are willing to disregard me over something I can’t control I don’t care anymore. Honestly with dating these days the chase often isn’t worth the prize. I’d prefer to do things I love and spend time with people I care about then try to convince closed minded women that I’m worth their time. This mentality has actually made me more successful with women. Stop chasing and begging women to accept you and just love yourself.

Women love equality, until they have to consider dating someone who makes less than them or is shorter than them. Or you know, just "shorter" than 5'9, even if they are still a foot taller than them. Women will complain all day about power dynamics and then literally take patriarchal preferences back to bed 100/100 times. No one supports patriarchy as much as women themselves when they're behind the wheel of the entire dating market and ecosystem. It hurts and I don't know what to do anymore. Just trying to talk about these issues and standards makes women so mad that they immediately villainize and silence me for having feelings about it at all. It's always men's fault.

old, short man here. You just got to make to around age fifty. You will then realize having women avoid you is a blessing. I am retired at age fifty five and very content. Once you make to old age women completely lose their power over you. It makes them extremely bitter and angry. You can then just ignore women and enjoy your life. Even if we could brush the unabashed heightism under the rug, that doesn't even begin to touch the entitlement, emotional volatility, lack of integrity, and sloppy-seconds history of most girls on the market. I've dated many woman in the past and Yes, this study is 100% true. Woman do want men much taller than themselves. I'm 5'10" and tried to date a woman the same height as myself and she wouldn't have it. She felt that I was too short. Once a woman puts on her high heels on, they want you to be taller than her while in her heels. I feel sorry for very short guys. The struggle is real.

The issue isn't that women want men who are taller than them, but rather men that are taller than other men.

When women talk about not dating short men, I talk about not dating fat women. When I'm called out for it, I expose their hypocrisy. It's VERY hard not to win that argument.

I saw a segment on 60 Minutes or something like that where they had a lineup of men in front of a one-way mirror and women were asked who they would be interested in dating. They all chose the taller guys. When the moderator told them the shorter guy was a doctor, they still said they liked the taller guy. When they told them the shorter guy was a brilliant pediatric surgeon and fabulously rich, liked children and pets, they still said they liked the taller guys. It's just instinct.

As someone who's 5'6" I see it as a blessing. I'm no longer prey for these emotional vampires. Height IS my silver bullet.

I once met a very attractive girl who was 6' tall, and was not happy about it. I mentioned that many female models are 6'. She said that she knew that, but it didn't cheer her up. So I told her "You're not 6' tall, you're 5'12" I got such a great smile from her! Unfortunately, at 6' tall, I was probably too short for her. Doh!

At 5'8'' I am average in the west and 50% of western women won't date me. Down here in South America I am above average (not by much mind you) in height and most women would date me based on height alone. I am soooo happy I moved out of Canada!

Research should be done comparing the heights in married couples, which would show the reality. Women may say what they prefer, but it is important to see whom they actually marry.

We are living in an age that never seem before, Alex. In the past, people bred only because they are the one that lucky enough to survive. Not because they were tall nor attractive. But past 2012 everything is changed. We face the eugenic age now.

As a tall guy (6'3), I've got to say it's true. I never understood why so many men bitterly complained about women. Granted getting women was never easy for me, and I still faced loads of rejection. But there were always women that would smile and talk to me. Lots of women act overly feminine in an effort to try and get my attention, even the ones I knew from reputation were not. Or try and make eye contact, or move into my physical proximity in public. When in relationships my women would have lofty expectations of what they want in relationships, and when I wouldn't meet them, they would cave and accept the situation instead of becoming bitter, leaving, or cheating. It's a different ball game entirely, and I really do feel for my shorter brethren.

Perhaps people should point it out when women “short shame” men when they announce they will only date men who are a certain height. The same women who would be appalled by racism are not embarrassed by openly judging people by their height rather than the quality of their character. ( Heightism?) I have yet to meet a man that cares how tall a woman is when pursuing a relationship. I find this uniquely feminine prejudice a huge turn off. It really shows how superficial they are and what they’re truly after. BIG red flag.

I'm 5'8" and a woman of 5'4" rejected me because I was too short. She said she only dated guys 6' 0" tall! I was just wow! I was 4" taller than she, but she only dated guys 8" taller?! Women are shallow as hell. They will get all bent out shape if a guy says they don't date heavier women, which is a metric that CAN be changed. But they are just fine with themselves rejecting guys that are 'too short', a metric that can NOT be changed. Talking about a double standard! Body weight is an indicator of health, height really isn't. These women that say that they are a "healthy" fat, are full of crap. They can go on a diet! What are shorter guys supposed to do, spend every night on the rack?!

So I’m only 5’5”. I’m 32. Have only had one partner in my whole life. Most women look right past me. I’m a ghost. But that’s ok. I’ve been working on myself. Life is more than just mating. I don’t even want children to be honest.

My solution is: 1) Good friends if you are alone 2) Therapy if you are depressed 3) Hooker if you are horny 4) Hobby and Job if you don't have life goal

That "silver lining" part is sickening. Do people think all men are just walking sex drives with no feelings? There are so many people who give advice like this to those of us who aren't in the most desirable demographics. That we must accept that we're in the dating "bargain bin" and look forward to the day when the store sells out of the best produce so the customer will have no choice but to select us.

I’m 5. 6 inches 66 years-old. 1:21 married 38 years my wife is 5 3 was a little chubby but cute quiet bookworm we are both Catholic more so back then. We both have our own interests. It’s been like this for years. Just work save your money go to some faith-based place even if it’s universal Unitarians and keep your libedo and expectations under control. If you become single over 55 and you have accumulated assets things become easier but you still have to treat women as just another interest never your prime interest.
