@@radoslav2913 the overhaul isn’t just about profitability but adding depth. Enchanting is pretty shallow. I don’t know how you add depth to it, which is why I am not too surprised that not much was added.
I'm very excited to start Dragonflight and tilt into Professions properly. It seems like they've really sat down and thought about it thoroughly and that gets me excited to play!
A huge thank you for this video! I've been searching for a good summary like this of the profession changes but yours is the first I've found that goes into enough detail that I can start forming a decision. Has given me much to think about and shown me things that despite reading Wowhead etc everytime they posted on professions, nobody had previously mentioned. Thank you muchly!
Thanks for the guide! Pretty sure you left out cooking though, would also be nice to learn how secondary professions work, with gathering and so on.. 🙏
I have at least one of every crafter and a few of each gatherer, so I'm excited to jump into professions for real for the first time in a long time. Gonna funnel every bit of power I can into my Evoker
@@stevenapier5 custom order stuff for mounts would be sick. You could do stuff for every crafting profession also and would open a huge market for literally everyone.
Or the ability to turn off/on professions on maybe a weekly cooldown without knowledge wiping. GW2 and ESO have perfectly fine economies even with the ability to access all professions.
@@t.ydunston2251 double duration flasks have saved me hundreds of thousands of gold over the years. I haven't actually looked into the phials yet though to see if alchemists still get that.
100% Inscription is always great, being the _aesthetic_ masters & it looks like that will continue. Can't wait to see the dragon riding mods I'll be able to make.
It's one of those things that still exists in retail yet hasn't made any sense in over a decade, because getting 6~8 extra slots when your bags are ranging from 12~16 is a great trade for not being able to use that bag for anything but profession, but that stops making sense when the default bag is already around 30.
I really miss BC-WotLK itemization. I remember when Blizz peeled back enchants, stats, gem slots, etc in Cata/MoP their arguement was that nobody wanted a piece of gear to be a chore. Maybe I'm wrong, but I beg to differ and this profession overhaul would be amazing for that. Let us enchant more slots, let blacksmiths and engineers make attachable gem slots again, put more gem slots on gear in general for Jewelcrafters. Bring back permanent spellthreads and armor kits for more slots. I want to deck my character out to the nines! This also boosts the usefulness of proffs and economies.
Considering my first few characters I will level will be my warlock (Tailor/enchanter) Rogue (Herbalism/inscription) and my Warrior (Mining/Blacksmith) I am feeling pretty good about my choices, might hold my LW hunter back in favour of my Shammy and DK which is fine with me.
Can the blacksmith repair hammers be used in trade? Like the old way of doing enchants, the other player puts their gear piece in the window furthest down and the blacksmith clicks hammer and then clicks the gear piece? Could be a nice way to make some extra cash on the side 😅 undercut the normal repair charges and price your own!
They could give Inscription spell scrolls that provide unique utility, such as: Scroll of Ressurection (Combat res with a cooldown), Scroll of Mass Invisibility, Scroll of Stamina/Int/Protection, etc., Scroll of Regeneration and so on. Thus create another set of consumables that you can use to add missing utility to your group and give value to the profession.
That's actually a good thing. More interaction between crafting professions means more demand. Other MMOs which did this were a lot of fun if you enjoy crafting.
I don't know though, AH will be shared with all realms now, so I assume things will be cheaper for me now since my realm is pretty expensive in general.
I love that you can craft gear equal to that of mythic gear! Thank god! I'm gonna be the super sayian crafter instead of running boring mythics over and over again.
Great vid, professions is among the top reasons I am so hyped about DF. Can't wait to play around with all of it myself, a great part of the RPG that only makes it better :D
I'm really surprised the soul inhaler doesn't say "can only be used outside in the Dragon Isles". Is this going to be useable in raids? Does it count against battle rezes??
Do gathering professions have gear they wear or just the crafting professions? Like if I'm a skinner and a leatherworker do I need to switch up my gear
You dont switch. You equip 3 pieces of gear for each profession and whenever you engage in the profession (craft something or mine a node) you instantly put on your gear for that profession. You unequip the gear instantly afterwards as well. So you have 3 pieces of gear for each profession on you, plus all the normal combat gear. You dont need to switch anything unless you upgrade something. And yes, the gathering professions have them too (mining helmet, herbalism sickle, etc.)
amen. when korthia came out and you making those special higher item lvl rings and necks became available they sold by the dozen for 50k each on my server. the first JCs on the server made absolute bank
@@DonnieDGaming im gonna go mining/herb with the dracthyr because of their racial, so im thinking about a crafting prof for the other character instead of a gathering one. which one suits JC the best
@@Bournesax I cant think of a crafting prof that specifically pairs with JC honestly. I would say choose a crafting profession that makes gear your characters could use. So you sace gold by making your own stuff and make gold with selling JC crafts.
@SignsofKelani, the engineer's "sucking" machine is not the only way to get the elements. There are a lot of em: mining, herbalism n mobs' drops mainly (secondary most likely treasures, world quests)
There's a difference between rousing materials, awakened materials, and souls. You can get rousing and awakened from mining etc. But I've never seen a soul material drop anywhere else.
@@SignsOfKelani oh yeah, the soul is purely for engineering sucking thingy, they will transform into the elements. The question is whether it is the rousing or awakened at the end of the process, and in what quantities; whether there s a CD on it, or maybe special elite elementals needed to be found for such.
This is such an insane overhaul it doesnt feel real. Just the orders alone is like shocking that they finally did something thats been in mmos since pre wow.
Enginering powers for everyone... And the powers seem so powerfull that they are on par with a legendary from shadowlands! In before: this is just a mandatory borrowed power everyone need. People gonna need to have a enginer alt.
engineering is the most common sense profession for your main tho. It provides such a huge amount of utility: portable bank, mail, wormhole, lootarang the item I cannot play wow without and much more
Im thinking of coming back to WoW with the New expansion, if i start a Evoker for example, do i have to learn all the levels of proffesions or can i Just start learning dragonflight recipes?
Um... As far as I know you pick a profession you wanna do in the new xpac and go learn it in the new xpac region where the teachers for them are and you can start gathering right away. You go to a profession specific teacher that'll teach you your crafting profession but that's when you need to level up the crafting profession by making/building things then you go to your teacher to learn more recipes them more things you make. That's how it has been but this new xpac has a very much different more in depth method of professions. I'd assume it'll work similarly to what I've explained just more detailed you'll still need to put in the work to make things in order to progress. Hope thats helpful
magic chest in second zone in lake under the water. with the elite monster swimming around. cant give exact location. but its pretty much broken blood elf tower half submerged.
I'm thinking about making making gold than anything else with professions. Which professions produce the most expensive items in the lowest quantities? I mean, something like epic gems which i can sell a single one for 500g instead of 10 pots for 50g each etc
I would love love love to see the ability to change gear's coloring. Not just that tho. I'd love to be able to adjust the size of the spaulders, the helms, the gloves/boots, the weapons..... !!! Add those options and sliders to the transmogrifiers services, or the work order options! And anything else to customize our appearances.. Well, I don't suppose this has a lot to do with Dragonflight, but I've wanted those things for a long time.
Hello, thank you for the great overview :) I have questions regarding alts and professions. How do you actually start with the new dragonflight recipes? Do I need to level up my alt before I can craft anything or can I go to the new area and just start crafting? Do some recipes need a certain level or can I do everything at level 60 or do I need to discover most of the recipes during leveling?
I guess its the latter, so just go there and learn dragonflight crafting, thats like it is for a long time now, dont know about any planned changes for that system
Is it a bad idea to have 2 production professions? I was kind of wanting inscription and jewelcrafing, but I worry about how to get the materials to craft. I don’t want to spread my cash too thin buying expensive new mats on the action house. Thoughts?
Either you are a good salesman and are able to buy materials cheap and sell all your stuff for good money or you can have a twink with herb/mining and do some material farm sessions
Would honestly suggest just leveling another toon or two you may be interested in. Have your crafting professions u wanted then a couple other toons can be gatherer specific that way when you go thro and level the gatherer toons you'll run into mats while leveling/questing stockpile them and send to ur crafters to start making what you want.
Its a fresh start, like in Shadowlands. You just learn mining for example in dragonflight and you can instantly mine all the nodes, no requirement. You dont need classic professions before dragonflight.
The repair hammer is pointless. It's not something that will convince someone to play blacksmithing. We have mounts that have a finish line that repair your gear.
How about covering how to get more recipes overall? I'm in Beta and my LW only has the base recipes....no more trainer stuff and can't seem to find anymore. For a profession overhaul the lack of gaining recipes or how to gain additional in a clear way sucks right now.
You can buy recipes from the vendor, most of which will probably come from world sources like dungeons, maybe raids, rares etc. But a lot of high end recipes are locked behind specializations and knowledge unlocks.
@@Ricu13 Yeah I'm sure on the level 70 realm, but I'm not playing there, I'm trying to experience the Beta like I would if it were Live, hence trying to test everything out for the purposes of testing this in proper way to give feed back. Right now you get three gear recipes then other scales or leather, then crafting gear recipes, and then finishing mats things, that can't be used. You get stuck around level 40 or 50, with out any more recipes to level up on with out using special vendors that is available on the one Beta Realm. I've looked at various vendors that you can find, perhaps not all of them, but renown vendors, artisan vendor and others and there are no recipes to be had beyond the initial trainer ones that I have. So once again, covering the crafting from just the level 70 realm that hands things to you isn't the right way of doing it I feel. So currently if you are doing this like you would in live, all of sudden you become recipe starved. Trying to find new recipes or having no clue where new recipes are supposed to come from currently.
@@SignsOfKelani Read my response to the other person. If recipes are hidden behind knowledge unlocks they don't give you enough recipes to do this with really at times, or perhaps it's needs to be told to the user this is how you get more recipes. Either this isn't implemented properly in the Beta as to how to get other recipes to level up on, or the crafting overhaul has a major issue right now with lack of recipes for people to level up on right now.
Knowledge items in inscription better be very very very draconically limited (ha) otherwise people with the deepest pockets will max their knowledge week 1, and make their pockets even deeper for the entire expansion.
Only thing I hate about the new professions, is the fact that you can't unlearn your skill points and spend them elsewhere. To be honest a new system will also come with a lot of mistake made by the player when choosing where to spend the points. Other than that I'm loving it.
Anyone know how DF professions will impact prior expansion gear or tinkers? Like will we still be able to use nitro boosts / parachute cloak or will they be deactivated or no longer an option. Thanks
Did I miss it or do just some professions have a bonus if you chose them? I mean all a smith can do can also be done on a second character and my main character is jewel and engine for the special gear, right?
He talks about it, like smiths get to repair their own gear for free, they make an item that requires blacksmithing to use, and it repairs gear. He also mentioned that engineers get to make goggles (head slot item) that has a tinker slot. THey can make bracers with tinker slot as well but the bracers are tradeable, the goggles are engineering only. So an engineer can have two tinker slots, whereas someone else could only have one. So some of the professions do give specific advantages to the profession itself, but I can't remember any others outside of the Blacksmith and Engineer (I plan on going blacksmith and engineer =))
THANK YOU FOR THIS! I have been waiting for a professional video! quick question.. do you know if mythic level gear will be bound? aka if I am a crafter and I want to make gear for my alt but don't have the raid mats, am I able to put in a work order for a mythic raider to assist in crafting it but then trade it to an alt?
I'm sorry but they are bind on pickup so you can't trade it to an alt. Also when you create a work order you have to be the one to place the mythic reagent in the order. Some other raider can't give you his, again bind on pickup. Actually very few things can be added buy the crafter.
All I am hearing is an inexcusable hard grind with multiple complications requiring me to make less Quality crap THAT NO ONE WILL BUY… thus eating copious amounts of time AND requiring me to have alt armies to have multiple professions further sinking even more time… customers will be angry because they will want the best stuff but only able to see the magnitude of bad crap and then blame me when what they thought they were buying was actually the bad stuff… concept ensures that the ten million gold holders currently will be at the top immediately and freeze out anyone even stupid enough to try to get into the club… rich stay rich, the rest stay poor
Are the jeweled whelping pets tradeable/sellable on the auction house btw? I think I want to make a couple for myself but would be nice to have the option to sell them too :) Is BS, LW and tailoring still going to be a worthwhile investment despite not having extra unique/exciting things compared to the other profs? Is the gear theyre making going to be a necessity later in the game such as for m+ dungeons?
5:43 Does that mean everyone will be able to battle ress without having to be an engineer? More flexibility for M+ pug I guess. RIP Warlock, Druid and DK - can't advertise for bress service anymore.
Will the trinkets be tradable or soulbound? Want to prepare which characters to play and to see which one get which profession. Would be easier to know if trinkets are tradable to other characters.
