9k+++ redline with 60lbs of boost thru a Chevy big block. Now that’s an impressive feat that few other builders would even attempt let along show the entire process online. Kudos.
@@DeezGarage god watch the videos dumbass the smx is an all billet water jacketed drag and drive and pretty much anything you want to do 5000hp engine designed and built by Steve Morris have you been living under a rock
Hey Travis I like what Steve said a while back he said if you are running low horsepower say1,000 , I think he forgot who is listening.i guess I'll have to go back to watching shade tree mechanic with some guy dragging I 1.2 ton floor jack from Montgomery Ward through a gravel driveway and kicking dog poop out of the way, hahaha, I love these videos I think Steve could do a Saturday morning on cable TV and there's an other guy that would fit in the Saturday morning slot and that's Shawn from autotopia LA probably more for TV than Steve but I dig seeing new Tek.
I gotta say... the time lapse music on this channel is ON POINT... and Steve is the G.O.A.T. I pick up bits of knowledge every time I watch one of his vids. good stuff.
I come from a turbo import background, and the "shitty" old pushrod technology is actually pretty impressive. The simplicity is appealing for these types of motors, but the downright awesome sound of these engines at 9000rpm is undeniable. Never thought I'd come around to liking these V8's more than import motos, but hey, here I am.
@@turbostyler I think most people don't understand that yes, overhead cams are simply superior in valve control and 4 valves per cylinder do flow more air, but putting cams on top of those heads would make the engine way taller, wider and heavier then they are anyways. That is the reason the 7L LS is much smaller and lighter than a 5.0 Coyote.
Same here, back in the day I had a 1967 GTO with the big block 400, SPC8 ram air cam WT block, 670 heads and a 390 posi, ALL numbers match. BIT, if you pushed even close to 9500, those numbers would no longer match lol
I remember when my cousin was first started running Methonal in his modified circle track car. My grandpa was get 55 gallon drums for either 69 or 79 cents a gallon down in Jackson in the mid 90's. I bet it's much more than that now a days.
Dewey is the star of the show. When my son and I visited Dewey can't get enough attention! Great job on this episode, very informative and I'm always learning something. Great Job Steve and crew 👍
Steve, agree with all the other positive comments below. Great channel/information! Also, the star of the show IMHO is Dewey! He's just so at home in the place and wants to get involved with everything. Not fazed at all by the noise from the high HP machines. Incredible. Have you ever taken him for a race spin in the Wagon?
I just became a channel member and I NEED THAT MOTOR!!!!! My Camaro has a blown motor. I’m a United States Marine Corps Iraq war combat veteran. Semper Fidelis
That's so awesome the way you help and look after all your competitors/customers. Looking forward to seeing all you guys competing in sick week and the other events you Florida guys race in.
Got to admit Steve with everything you know about the cost and time you put into these engines it has to be unnerving doing these pulls. Looking forward to the drawing of your engine and stand giveaway. Awesome video and content !
Excellent empirical data as always. Enjoyed the Rottler videos as well so thank you for sharing those also. Mitch is the auto tool changer which is a cost effective option instead of having some robot do it that lacks personality. Saw Kyles 'stang and wondering how that one is coming along? Dewey still does Dewey things which always brings a smile to the audience! Cheers!
Tom has the right name...... this car is SICK Closest thing you can find to having a body wrapped around a motor...... Awsome No other word to describe it.... Yeah Maybe ..... SICK Keep on keeping on Heads up Eyes open No fear
Yep, and people don’t realize it’s easy to make a dyno lie. You can alter the correction factor, or just change the calibration of it and make a big difference in readings.
Finally someone gets the extra benefit of the exhaust dump pipes pointing in the right direction to add a little thrust to help push the car down the track to gain that little extra power. I don't know what the actual gain is, because every engine is different comparatively speaking, but pushing that amount of air through the cylinders, and even with the percentage lost pushing the impellers to build the boost to begin with. It has to be some assistance in pushing the car that much faster down, just because the velocity has to be substantial due to the volume of air being condensed, and forced out the down pipe.
Got it. Bailey hits traction control while idling in the shop. Steve Morris Engines baby. Got Sack? I love the dog. Oh shit! Bailey's drivin'. Time to mosey. He get's more disturbed when Steve isn't working of a Chevy.
What's the value of the backround props that give ambiance to the video?? Any guesses?? Dual axle pusher, Massive toter in parking lot, the wagon, the stang, don't even know what the stepside is about.... and that's before a trained eye starts seeing the cnc's and other stuff..... Well, Steve doin' it right!
This Sick 2.0 is a "street" car that runs gas on the street..BUT it converts to methanol for the "strip"..It is The Fastest Street Car On The Planet. It has run 5.99 in the 1/4 mile after driving over 1200 street miles and 30 passes at different strips..It is SICK !! It revs to 9500 rpm on the strip !! it is about 572 cubic inches displacement..It is SICK !!
@@KeikoFXDesigns I'd LOVE to see the NPK folks try to tango with this car and Steve's wagon.. They damn sure got nothing that will match them on a drag and drive..
That car really is awesome it works incredibly well and the engine is insane. Anything that runs 60 or 70 lbs of boost and does it often it’s really cool I wish I could learn as much as this man has forgotten
Yeah, it is crazy, I have seen Italian race cars, Formula car etc... hitting these RPM levels, but American big blocks? Man, technology has come along way.
It's making about 50.45 hp per pound of absolute air pressure. For example, 12lbs of boost: (12 + 14.7) * 50.45 = 1347hp, 24.5lbs of boost: (24.5 + 14.7) * 50.45 = 1977hp, 34lbs of boost: (34 + 14.7) * 50.45 = 2457hp, 41.5lbs of boost: (41.5 + 14.7) * 50.45 = 2835hp. So my guess at 70lbs of boost: (70 + 14.7) * 50.45 = 4273hp.
Dude you are freaking crazy smart and your for sure gunna go down in the books of one of the greatest in the industry. It’s so crazy to think that 10-15 years ago making 40psi of boost on a gas engine was unthinkable to some people, and now your over here calling 40psi “low boost” 😂😂
Tom had the best co-driver ever until his co-driver built a car of his own that can beat him. No funny business like Cleeter and his fleet... You guys are still the best to beat. No matter what Jackstand Jimmy Says!
Been a subscriber since the devel 16 days, love the channel decided to become a member today hopefully win that engine!! I have a rx7 that could use that package!! Thanks for all your hard work and tech videos
Nevermind you didn't mention that you have to be a member for a month to win. What a scam when you know people will go sign up immediately and they can't win.
Really hoping to see this car run 5.xx every day during Sick Week. I seriously root for this car more than I do my favorite college football team. (Even though you guys are both from “That State up North”).
@11:20 - the guy in the brown jacket is like - "I went 37 years without being spotted once in a city full of cameras, but that gargantuan hunk of American winning machine split my focus for one heartbeat...one heatrbeat too many..." 😛
