Hey Guys, I’m Alex Etches and I’m a golf professional and product reviewer. If you don’t know me, I started playing golf at 10 years old, turned professional at 22 in the UK, and have been creating entertaining and informative golf content on different platforms for the last 10 years. Im conditioned to view XL as Cleveland. Their gear is amazing these days. I have a 4 iron that i will not part with. Didnt like the weight of the zipcore wedges, but the RTX 4s are perfect apart from a slightly soft face catching a few pits.

I bought the Cleveland HB Launcher about 6 months ago after testing a few "bigger" names. Felt the best of all of them and distance is superb- also of note I'd have to say my slices are a good 10 yards less than before. Just great drivers for us mere mortals and the price makes them an absolute must to test.

Loud and tinny doesn't surprise me from Cleveland. I had a HiBore XL (illegal) driver for a while and when I teed off I could be heard as many as 4 holes away. That being said that driver was an absolute yeet cannon and I did enjoy it while I had it.

Ok, you need to put this in the hands of Tommy. Hell, give hime a whole Cleveland Launcher set up and have him play a few holes. This would be more realistic testing for the rest is us.

Been using my aging Launcher 460 for years now. It’s been ok to me, though still slice on occasion. Ok, lots of occasions, but maybe this is even better?

I played my old Cleveland Custom 588 with the Stockshaft Myiasaki JDL 6 tour issue. A great driver with the best sound and feel, i ever tested/played before and after🤷🏻‍♂️ Sorry Titleist/Taylormade/Ping and all others😉

I just love cleveland products. I Own 3 sets of cleveland irons TA5, UHX, and launcher xl. The launcher hb turbo was loud and long I love it. It sounds like you crushed a grand slam when you square it up. This xl launcher reminds me of the ping g425 driver as far as sound of the face.

Still playing my 1999 TA5 Gold Irons. I have no clue why everyone wants the dead cracked wood sound of a carbon face today, but give me that Titanium ping any day. I want people 3 fairways over to hear me whack that 175 yard monster drive off the toe.

Just went down to get fitted for a 5 wood...ended up walking out with Cleveland XL 3 hybrid....like my Srixon ZX 5 irons....very very under rated clubs and much cheaper than the big brands

Couple of things I just picked up the Cleveland XL driver outside on the tee box it does not sound nearly as loud as it did in your studio so no worries there ...secondly this is Cleveland's first adjustable hosel ... I went to a PGA Superstore in Sarasota Florida tried about seven different drivers my final two were the Cleveland XL and the Ping g425 Max I hit them identical.... the ping was $550 the Cleveland XL was $349... it was a no-brainer to pick the Cleveland if they would have been the exact same price I would have chose the Ping because my 7 wood and 3 wood are ping g425

Would like to know where the pricing sits against the others. Things can often be overlooked at a noticably cheaper MSRP.

Golfbox has them for $549. With callaway rogue, cobra SZ and TM Sims at the same price, i would say these wont sell well. Most would assume last years Callie/TM will still be better than latest Cleveland. Mavriks and Radspeeds are only $649 and golfbox have another $100 off purchases over $500. So for the same price you can have the latest models from two of the big names. (Edit: this deal would in fact bring the price of the XL down as well to $449 obviously, so still a bit cheaper than the other brands) Clevelands need to be $2-300 cheaper if they want their woods to sell. Their wedges and putters sell great because they are far cheaper than the big names at retail, and most people dont worry as much with the tech specs of wedges/putters. Woods are a diff story.

just bought one at my local pro shop... paid $349.99 for it, and i LOVE it... i'm consistantly hitting it in the center of the clubface, not longer than my previous driver, but WAY more fairways hit in 54 holes thus far.. best purchase ever for me.

@@johnlozier3292 if they sold the latest model for that price they must know that it was going to sit on the shelf forever. Problem is alot of manufactures will have agreements that you stock XYZ range. So even if you sell alot of wedges from that brand, you may need to also stock their woods and irons too. Alot of stores would be happy enough to get cost price back on Cleveland woods.

Cleveland is good for the price range, great even. I got my dad a tour edge for like $250 and it’s a perfect fit. So yea there’s a market for these. But I obviously require the Ping TM Titleist Callaway badge on my number one weapon in the arsenal. Also shout out to Blue Steel on the background music

Hate Cleveland clubs, probably a mental block by now, we all have good days and bad days playing but somehow I have had good days and absolutely horrific days using either Cleveland irons or drivers!

Why is loud a problem now? I cannot understand this. When metal came around people wanted the metal and the sound made it clear you had a metal one. Then Titanium came out and wow, now your driver sounded futuristic and no longer like hitting a ball with a chain link fence pole. Now we have circled back to wanting our clubs to sound like a piece of wood cracking each time we drive the ball with a carbon faced driver. I will take my ting sound any day. Makes sense with the age of this guy though, he does not know the evolution of our drivers from wood to metal to titanium. I have been wanting one of these clevelands to replace my older cleveland driver. The 5 yards I may lose to a perfectly hit Callaway or Cobra is not really worth the $200 increase in price to me. And this will go great with my TA5 gold irons I am still playing from 1999.

This is a great purpose built driver. I know a ton of golfers would love to stripe one down the middle and if they could get consistent 255 carry… gold. Pretty much everyone! If you are hitting 80% fairways in regulation who cares what it sounds like. Every weekend we see the top 3 drivers in the hands of many… with nary a fitting… bone stock… spraying the countryside with $4 golf balls for no reason. Please get fit! Ask to hit this club and others like it! It may not work for you…. Or it could be just what you were always looking for!

Spend the extra money and get the Ping G425 Max. The absolute best driver that has come out in the last 5 years. IMO.

Had it, hated it! Almost spend $700 last night on the 10K, but decided to try this 1 first? Al actually saved me about $500! The new Ping is 10,000 points where the Cleveland sits at about 5200, I think? Does that mean the Ping is 2x as forgiving as the XL? 2 me 10,000 moi = hell of lot of SPIN?

Beware the single figure handicap golfer who has one of these in the bag when you are playing matchplay. You might out drive them on most holes but if they're finding the centre of this bat and you start spraying...... well how many holes can you give away off the tee. And if they are concerned about accuracy with the driver they've probably set their whole bag up the same way. It's probably going to be a tough day.

The "Sweet Spot" on all golf clubs, is the size of a pin head! what they are mistakenly referring to, is the EHA "Effective Hitting Area" the larger this area the sloppier your swing becomes and your swing suffers as a result. I can't find drivers with small enough heads any more, everything looks like a pigs bladder on a stick! like a jester would prance around court with! gives golfers a false sense of their abilities and makes them more inclined to blow half a grand on a club, rather than lessons with a PGA Pro.
