33:29 British tanks, still to this day, have so called "brewing vessels", or BVs inside them so that the crews can make tea. To be fair to the Brits in WWII, boiling water to make tea was a very good idea, as it greatly reduced the potential health issues from drinking water that would almost certainly have gotten contaminated.

21:12 He addresses Patton in another video, talking about the Crusader tank. there's a section in the middle where he talks about Rommel and Patton: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wKbNPrs8Y54.html Link goes to said video, at the point where LP starts talking about Rommel.

54:13 Historian community seriously have some beef against this guy. And he is someone who actually can be described as “kind of good German”. Except he was not really German, he was Czechoslovak. Not even in matter of nationality, Knispel literally considered himself as ordinary Czechoslovak citizen, who just happens to be born in German family. He and all his family members fluently spoke Czech. He was born quite long after Czechoslovakia established itself as proper country. He never supported separatists in Sudetland, openly opposed Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia. He even been arrested for his activity. Before 1940 he managed to avoid drafting into Wehrmacht by working in car factory. Even more, during service he drove mad all commanding officers and noncommissioned officers, because his behaviour outside outstanding combat performances. Oh, and he wrote all his letters in Czech rather than German, just to troll censorship officers and military police who checked all soldiers’ letters. All of it perfectly explains how the tank commander with such insane records and who been selected for the Knight Cross of the Iron Cross *FOUR* times was rejected every time. Even then he received his Golden Cross he managed to piss off his commanders and been arrested by military police: he participated in propaganda video with King Tiger tanks marching, where he had been spotted on camera for few seconds…Where he was poorly shaved, had his shirt unbuttoned and cover symbol of Imperial Eagle over his chest pocket with his Golden Cross (which he put upside down, as sign of disrespect). Total savage. Gestapo officer, who mistreated Soviet prisoner of war, got few teeth punched off by Kurt in front of everyone. Bastard tried his best to organise meeting between Knispel and the firing squad, but failed. All because Knispel was at the moment made his 85 kill before that incident and supposed to be awarded Knight Cross of the Iron Cross. And he knew that his commanders will not allow him been executed. Again, total savage. All of these explain why after his remains were discovered in early 2010’s Czech government approved to bury him in Czech military cemetery in Brno. Not separate cemetery for German soldiers. And as a cherry on top, staff sergeant Kurt Knispel was only 23 when he died. P.S. If the Valhalla is real, this savage is definitely somewhere there.

The reason Lazerpig brought up the ambulances was specifically because the Geneva Convention protects medical personell as noncombatants. The reason he mentioned the big obvious red cross on it was to point out the fact that Wittmann could see it was clearly a medical truck with no possible enemy force inside it save for possibly unarmed wounded, and filled it full of bullets anyway.

1:00:00 A similar thing went on with the Luftwaffe. The wingman's job was simply to help his leader get kills. Luftwaffe wingmen had a ridiculously high sttrition rate, compared to other nations. The saying in the Luftwaffe was "Every victory kills a wingman". This is largely why some German pilots scored over 100 kills. The other reason is that the majority of these kills, the ones not made up, were things like outdated aircraft, transports and bombers aka very easy targets. The Luftwaffe also didn't rotate experienced pilots so they could help train new pilots, thereby passing on their knowledge. So while some individual German pilots have lots of kills, the Allied pilots had more kills on average.
@removedot
@removedot 5 месяцев назад
America also rotated experienced pilots into becoming trainers to bring up more pilots, while Japanese and Germans tended to keep their "best" out there to continue getting kills. This was a winning the battle vs winning the war type thing, where the American strategy was far superior in the wrong term. Also, Germans faced the Soviets which is like cheating.

@@dylanhaugen3739 same can be said for most nations troops to an extent, especially if where they fought was very contested and violent in general. The biggest crime many Germans committed was accepting the new Germany, but we likely would have mad a similar choice considering the consequences and difficulties of pulling off anything radical against the government.
@removedot
@removedot 5 месяцев назад
@@TeenWithACarrotIDK This is knowing as "The Clean Wehrmacht Myth" because that is largely what it is, a myth. The Wehrmacht was certainly often involved in many of the travesties and crimes of the Nazis. It was largely pushed because the West had to work with West Germany soon after the war so couldn't go too far in condemning them. This also led to many people who were on the Axis to write books and make them look not as bad. "The victor writes history" isn't always true

14:23 The moment Montgomery arrived, Rommel never won another battle.
@diggman88
@diggman88 6 месяцев назад
The more I've learned about rommel's actual conduct of the battlefield has made me really dislike him. When he arrived in North africa, the Italians told him there were to be no offenses. The Italians remaining on a defensive foot to gather supplies and reorganize. So what does Rommel do? He turns off his radio and swaggers off into the desert to find the British. He then only turned his radio back on when he was out of fuel and had actually captured something of value. This leaves the Italians in the distasteful position of picking up everything in order to get supplies and troops to him. They could have left him to suffer the consequences of his actions but that would have upset Hitler. Italy would have been "responsible" for getting his glory boy captured.

They unironically were socialists. Socialism doesn’t exclusively mean ownership it also means control, government ownership or control of the means of production. They did it in a different manner than the Soviets but they were absolutely socialists. Also, democracy, not the same thing as a republic, almost all NATO members are republics, not democracies. China doesn’t call itself the people’s republic of China, or the Democratic Republic of China, that’s western designations, the correct name of China is Zhonghua Minguo, the literal translation of which is “Chinese people's state”.

The "german army ran on meh" is a myth about as big as the wittman one. So facts are like this they did largely use it in poland which was a disaster and thats the term used by their army command. Overuse of it in particular was often seen as one of the causes for such poor performance and high casualties in poland. They really didn't use it as a standard issue thing after that. It was more of a emergency "we need to go from A to B overnight and we don't have time to stop thing and it wasn't regularly issues nearly as much as pseudohistorians claim(not to mention germany wouldn't even have that much production to keep up if they were to to use it regularly). Basically side effects were seen as too impactful on the performance of regular troops especially after they came down the high iirc one of the documents stated that hey needed ATLEAST 9 days of crash rest for every 3 they used meth. In short the drug nazis is a massive myth just like all the positive germans myths , no different and we got documents and actual historians looking into it to prove it. Not wehraboo and new wave internet pseudohistorian's. Patton was a psychopath thats why people don't like him he was Zhukov except Zhukov didn't have any options or illusion that he was throwing poor soldiers into the meat grinder. Also patton was just an asshole, broke the trust his soldiers put in him and brutalized several of them and accused them for cowardice while they were suffering of injuries and/or shellshock.

Honestly its more a talking point in the British and German tank fan circles the US doesn't really tend to teach about the Battle of Villers-Bocage. Also i just want to point out that Wittman lost 10 tiger tanks under his command 6 at Villers Bocage and 4 more when he decided to banzi charge over open ground in front of British tanks on one-side and Canadian tanks to the other side and they=ir Firefly's tore him and the tanks with him to bits, he even had his turret blow off the top of the tank just to scatter him over a wide area, the man was a idiot who got lucky, he should have been vaperized when he charged into the town and then forgotten..

one of the few good LP videos.. mostly cuz its 95% plagiarized. And because this is around the time when he torpedoed his channel with rampant russiophobia over facts behavior (clearly targeting the propaganda audience with clickbait nonsense to promote his channel) ,accusing people of being russian plants and a lot of other things in essentially a smear campaign because they rationally disagreed with him had good facts and logic to back up their stances on the matter and he didn't even have a leg to stand on in a debate with em. Next was the hissy fit he threw when the biggest armored fighting vehicle expert on YT "The Chieftain" who btw is an actual tanker who operated tanks of multiple countries from both blocks and actually is an instructor that still trains crews so knows a lot more then LP the keyboard warrior . When Chief decided to step in to stop the drama not even taking any sides but just asking him(and the other side) to basically chill , get some drinks so they can all just quit the drama and resolve it in DMs like polite people , LP reacted like this was some grand disrespect and slight against him and was extremely rude and threw insults at Chieftain publicly .

Wow. You're completely wrong about everything you just said. Regarding the T-14 video, none of the criticism he received was backed up by anything. Also, one of the channels attacking him is legitimately a Russian sympathiser, who thinks Russia's invasion is justified. Neither him nor Cone actually refuted LP's video, just some minor details, which didn't affect the overall video. Everyone rightly criticised Cone for his arrogant, smarmy tone in his video. And Cone's "apology" was even worse.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't think Lazerpig handled the "criticism" perfectly (that part about leaving his own sources out so others have to look it up is such a dumb move, regardless if his intentions were pure), but the other side just takes Russia's word at face value.
