In defense of bomber pilots, a quote from my Uncle who flew a torpedo bomber, “Fighter pilots make movies, Bomber Pilots make history”
@Registered_Simp
@Registered_Simp 5 месяцев назад
Everyone makes history. Fighter pilots can't kill shit thatls on the ground (unless they're multi-role). And bombers can't kill shit in the air that's trying to kill them (unless they're multi-role)
@EloquentTroll

@@Registered_Simp back in the day the turrets on bombers got them plenty of air to air kills in days of the .50 cal

Or rather the days of the .50 cal as an aerial weapon.

Good thing Stargate Command wouldn't let the Reformers anywhere near them. Otherwise we would be fighting the Goa'uld with sticks and stones.

Goa'uld are basically a group of Reformers, that's why they lost the war. Despite having super advance tech, their implementation of tech is medieval-renaissance, most of their guns are semi-auto, rarely use grenade, no target seeking missile,.... The 1st Goa'uld army to use automatic blasters is Anubis & his force were truly deathly

In Greece we also got the F104. There is one at the Athens Military Museum. To put it politely, the pilots hated it

To be fair China is a treath but more in economy side than military one. The sheer size of Chinas markets gives them a lot of influence nevermind their part in growing super monopolys that goverments are alowing to happen.

China is not the economic power house you think it is. Their economy is HEAVILY dependent on countries buying their cheap products, they import the lion share of their oil from the Middle East which is funneled through the Malacca Strait, and they had a "One Child" policy for decades which is the cause of their population collapse. They're boned. Admittedly, I try not to tell people this too often because IMO we Americans need an enemy to rally against. and it's better to overestimate your opponents' abilities than underestimating them.
@mobiuscoreindustries
@mobiuscoreindustries 4 месяца назад
@BartimaeusCarbulo I mean even considering that their economy has very clear lifelines (all economies do), their lifelines also cross with the lifelines of their rivals, and therefore the resulting web is what keeps China from being more overt about their expansions. Their economy is overstretched and reliant heavily on the international community growing it at the expense of their own. Yet, they do have it. And their state apparatus is smart enough to employ it. Primarily, their target for economic disruption isn't the state but their component economic elements. Companies, and especially financiers. People that have a vastly different set of goals compared to when your usual corruption loving politician (which is all of them). See a politician is basically always corrupt because they get to partake in as close to legal insider trading as it gets. But that relies on them manipulating and getting advantage of an asset they control. Meaning an asset in their own country. And while this is often used against their own country and citizens interest, it often is done for the benefit of something else in their region of influence, because that is what is paying them. So while their action harms their country, it has an upper limit. And those ill allocated resources can often still produce useful things, if only at 2000% higher cost. Meanwhile financiers and companies aren't so tied to these requirements. They have their power base and friends in high places that they want to satisfy but again there is plenty of choice out there, and they will go for the best short term benefit almost every time... and that opens an opportunity. Look at the real estate bubble for example. While the majority of the money is from the Chinese citizens (as one of the only way to invest they have acess to), the part the CCP cares about are the foreign capital. Because once money gets dumped into the country it stays there, and it is notoriously difficult to get out. However for financiers when the line goes up, everything is good. And every time the CCP asks for more money, they are happy to give in order to secure their prior investment. Ultimately these flows of foreign capital are utterly substantial, and the amount of foreign businesses able to operate there without a CCP member in a major position can probably be counted on both hands. This is a method they have used to great effect, since it directly feeds off the consequences of states profiting from their stagnation through lobbying and thinly veiled corruption. This pushes away a lot of core economic and social elements that end up falling under the CCP influence, simply because in the short term it is a far better deal than what the west offers.

Ah, yes. The axe bath. I remember those people. I remember walking into the Post exchange on Camp Humphreys in Korea where my wife and came across a young man in the Main Exchange who drenched himself in axe. He was three aisles over wearing a muscle shirt and wore enough axe that it was causing people within three aisles of him to openly gag. Even his friend who was with him looked a little distressed at the overly aggressive odor emanating from this young man.
